Jul 25th 2008 8:56AM Yea, it's coming up soon!
I'm in a similar funk I was in before the last expo came out, all I really am doing is hording honor/gold and levelling some alts I might play as there's probably only 3 months left till we're back in greens.
This was the timeline for the burning crusade release so if it's anything similar we might see the new talents and things patch into the game in Sept/Oct with a release as the sales sites are projecting in early November.
September 27, 2006 - Beta testing signups
October 10, 2006 - Beta Testing Started
December 5, 2006 - Burning Crusade related changes on live system (Honor/Talents)
January 17, 2007 - Burning Crusade released US
Jul 24th 2008 12:30AM I think that maybe had some valid points before, but with death knights starting out at 55 anyway and skipping hours of gank zones very few people will play anything else.
All they need to do is make it so you can only transfer a character PvE->PvP if you have a character on the PvP realm equal or higher level than the character you're transferring and *almost* everyone will be happy.
Either that or all us to start a any class at level 55 like death knights, as I can't do 1-55 all over for the 10th time again.
Jan 15th 2008 8:25PM Yea, well if the game let you solo BT before going into the expansion, I'm all for it, I'd have liked to be able to do BWL/AQ40 solo to be able to see the content and bosses. Maybe have some epic NPC follow you through the content and 1 hit stuff.
Otherwise based on what a ghostland the old world is, this would never happen. I've leveled 2 characters 1-70 since BC hit and haven't ran ANY old world end game instance raid or otherwise. I wish there were a reason for them though, making it mandatory isn't it.
Dec 11th 2007 11:50AM One of the biggest gripes I've always had with a druid is that in their forms you don't get to see the gear you've collected. For most people yes, WoW is one big game of dress up, collect new epics so you can show off the sparkles on your shoulders or weapon. For a druid the only time you get to show that off is when you're walking around a city as every form completely hides everything. A bonus for PvE but a big letdown for PvE. I love the class and made it to 70 but haven't played in months would always roll a base class or one of the other hybrids instead, and since the leveling is so fast you can do that too.
IF they actually had the gear upgrades change the bear/tree/moonkin appearance somehow (and how is the new WoLK hairstyle and customizations going to matter to a druid), then a druid would be an awesome class probably going from one of my current least favorite to my second favorite after warlock, it could even get me over having to play a night elf or a tauren.
Also, a druid like other hybrids is not for the indecisive player. Sure they can do 3 things but you'll never get good at anything unless you focus on one specific talent tree and gear set.
Nov 29th 2007 3:01AM One of the problems I'm seeing in the near future is with the lack of any tanking gear obtainable from PvP, seeing that the only 2 specs that are not viable in PvP are prot pally and prot warrior, it's still super time consuming to gear up a tank to do PvE raid content.
It's super easy now to spend a few hours a week to get DPS ed out with crazy epics but all of the tank gear is still in the 5 mans, raids and buyable for high numbers of badges (assuming you get around 15 from a kara clear, and run a few heroics, it'll take a month to buy the 75 badge chest). I was already *partially* established with my gear from having hit 60 a few months ago and running instances, but someone new wouldn't be able to step up as easily with most of the DPS I've seen this week. And the tanking drops from heroics aren't much of an upgrade.
At least healers get good gear.
Nov 23rd 2007 12:55PM I cruised to 60 then got to around 63 and then the grind started, now I've been stuck there for days, I think I'm gonna give up till my rest builds up. Having to get a million XP at the normal rate seems huge.
And then theres the gear up grind at 70. When they lowered the heroic difficuty it seems like a lot of people are skipping this, we had a group last night where the tank (me) was pushing more dps than 2 of the dps classes in the group, who were dressed in half greens. Yea, we had to call that run.
Sure you can do 1-58 in like 100 hours compared to like 200 now, but it's still around 150 hours to get 58-70, and (for most people) it's still at around 100 hours or a couple runs through all the normal instances or many hours of PvP until you replace all your gear with level 70 blues for heroics or raids.
Nov 13th 2007 1:34PM Along with adding back in the hardware sound, they also added in the line about Dual Core processors I haven't seen before. Over the last few patches my FPS has dropped off about 10-20 fps every patch from like 80-100 in December before BC to around an average of 20-30fps before 2.3.
"The latest patch of World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade shows a benefit on today's popular multicore processors like the Intel(r) Core(tm)2 Duo processor family. The enhanced patch has demonstrated higher frame rates by spreading the work across both processor cores. "
Nov 13th 2007 3:14AM I've had to play with sound off since the last patch since I finally narrowed it down to my game crashing if I try to play with sound, so I haven't tried voice chat. Sound worked great until 2.2. I'm hoping the next patch brings it back again, it's been so quiet.
But I don't think I'd have used voice chat otherwise, nobody every asks about it in pugs. Interesting idea on paper but players wanted so much more before this one.
