You'll still want both stats. Int will serve to increase the throughput of your spells, while spirit will increase regen. You're not losing one stat, it's just not increasing your mana pool anymore. So it really hasn't been simplified, it's just one stat does slightly less.
Still not a fan, and it just seems like an incredibly silly response to what I think was an overblown problem. I'm going to miss seeing my mana pool grow as I level and gear, even if it was only slightly.
Apr 2nd 2012 5:34PM Beyond the issue of simply resulting in gating, there was another very serious issue that they wound up having with restricting people, or imposing requirements on people to keep them out of instances...
People chose not to fulfill those requirements in an effort to limit what dungeons they got from the random dungeon queue.
Maybe the instance won't make sense without the quests...but undoubtedly there are people that just don't CARE if it makes sense or not.

I have to assume that playing like that is going to be suboptimal. Because of mastery making your spells weaker as you burn, as well as the fact that you'd suddenly start spending probably 1/4 of your time evocating...I doubt AB/evocate/AB/evocate is going to be a real successful style of play.

Restricting the testing threads to actual testers makes sense, and it doesn't really limit your ability to comment on something like this.

As far as quantity it will be the same. As far as getting weapons instead of armor in an effort to get essences instead of dust...most of the quests that give weapons ONLY give weapons, and most of the quests that give armor ONLY give armor. I assume that will be the case even more often under this system.
Still, it's overly restrictive, and (as is starting to become a theme IMO) a really really inelegant and superfluous response to a largely manufactured problem. I didn't see too many folks at level 84 bemoaning the fact that they didn't realize that priests couldn't equip plate. About the only people that this might help, would be those like hunters, that equipped some leather pieces, losing out on their "all-mail" bonus.

Absolutely nothing about that sounds interesting to me. At all. I don't want to spend 4 weeks pouring VP onto an item, thinking to myself: "hey, the raid item that I would replace this with is on a boss that we haven't quite downed yet...I'll work on increasing the power of it!", only to see that item drop the first time we kill that boss, while failing to get upgrades on any other single slot that I could've used that VP on upgrading. Sorry, but that doesn't strike me as "fun" or "insteresting"...that strikes me as EXTREMELY frustrating, and just another manner in which RNG can minimize how much your gear can improve.
Yes, getting Valor gear isn't as terribly exciting as when you finally see that damn trinket that you've been wanting for months drop from that boss...but it does make the wait a whole hell of a lot less irritating. Gearing your character should in no way be frustrating or irritating. To me, that's not a reasonable way to design it. I understand that they need to gate gear, and I understand that a certain amount of frustration comes along with that. But doing ANYTHING to increase that amount of frustration come across as, frankly, stupid in my opinion.
Leave it how it is. Give me options, and give me a way to get comparable upgrades to the rest of my team when my gear just won't drop in raid. I absolutely understand not wanting tier gear to come from valor vendors. But at least give me a chance to buy gear for not only my too that I DO raid on...but something to get on my toons that I DON'T raid on.

Mar 24th 2012 5:46PM With Ignite no longer proccing off of crits, I don't think fishing will be a big issue anymore. We'll be able to give ignite a 100% uptime through fireball, pyroblast, and fireblast, so unless it doesn't operate like it does currently, by creating a stacking dot, then we won't necessarily need to wait for that big phat Pyroblast! crit.
Mar 23rd 2012 5:09PM Why? There could be folks who have played this game far longer and far more consistently than the folks that signed up for the annual pass. There's no reason that they should be held back for essentially being the same paying customers who pay the same exact amount.
The beta isn't designed to be fair. It's an extra perk of the AP, but at the end of the day, the most important thing is that it's a BETA! They should ensure that they get as wide a range of testers as they can, as opposed to trying to ensure that none of us that signed up for the pass don't get our feelings hurt because someone may have opted in and gotten in earlier.
I think people need to stop thinking about the beta like it's a full game, or early access.
