Feb 4th 2007 2:08PM @#9&10 : I really think the English word is a derivative of the French word, since the French word literally means "to the purpose", on the contrary, the English word literally means, well, nothing. (see http://www.m-w.com/dictionary/apropos )
And usually when you write a word in italic, it's to warn the reader that you're using a foreign word.
So it would have been correct if it hadn't been written in italic, but for the present case, it's a French mistake.

The pet is cool, by the way :-)
