Pre apps successfully installed on non-rooted phone, world waits for details {Engadget}

Jun 22nd 2009 9:11AM I have my first gen as well and I am not wasting my time with the 3GS. AT&T is doing a great job of sucking as much money out of their customers before they lose their exclusivity.

In July I'll be jail breaking my phone and moving to T-Mobile. I'll wait for a year or so to see what Apple releases next and with which carrier.

I expect Verizon to be expanding their network with the new bandwidth they purchased from the FCC. AT&T also won a share but I just don't see them building their network to be as robust as verizon.

Pre sets first day and first weekend device sales records for Sprint, almost ruins a wedding {Engadget}

Jun 8th 2009 6:44PM I went to the Sprint store last Saturday to finally check out the phone. I liked it. I noticed that Apple had trained me into how I should gesture and what results to expect, so it took me a little longer to get used to the UI. I kept waiting for the vitrtual keyboard to show up. I think I prefer a virtual keyboard to the physical one. I never thought I would say such a thing but Apple did a great job with their implementation.

The biggest problem at the Sprint store, the lack of Palm Pres. I think Palm and/or Sprint miscalculated the demand. My wife liked the Pre so much she was ready to buy it instead of waiting to see what Apple came out with today. Pre lucked out that Apple produced mediocre results today. So I am pretty sure we'll be a Pre/iPhone family for a while.

So congratulations Sprint, but it could have been at least +1 than the current numbers if your supply had matched demand.

Poll: iPhone 3GS or the Pre? {Engadget}

Jun 8th 2009 6:18PM Dear Apple,

I am so underwhelmed. You came out with a great product 2 years ago. Revolutionary. I still have it, and love it 2 years after purchase. My contract comes up in July but you have given me no reason to stick with you and AT&T.

For a new iPhone 3G S, I get the pleasure of paying $15 more per month to have the same kind of service I have now with faster networking. $360 more over the next two more years, not to mention the $199 for the phone itself. What have you added? Faster processor? Mine works fine. A compass? Search? Palm beat you there. Video, you're late to the party.

AT&T is ruining your product with terrible pricing schemes, poor service, and a dismal network. Why should I pay such exorbitant fees for 160 bytes of texts when I can send megs via email for free? It doesn't make sense. Sprint figured it out, why can't AT&T? No tethering to use data we are already paying for without extra money in s subscription based service? MMS messages are not even implemented by AT&T. They are dropping the ball and trying to extract as much as they can while the have exclusivity at the price of your reputation. Sprint is offering simply everything, EVERYTHING, for $100. AT&T, $150.

I don't see myself buying this phone. Nothing has changed that would wanted me to upgrade. I will keep my iPhone off contract until it dies. You have until then to try and bring that revolutionary spirit back to the iPhone and its terms of service, otherwise; I am gone.
