Apr 4th 2012 6:37PM It's interesting to read your article and I'm glad that so far the Beta has brought to you a sense of wonder that you felt like you had lost with Cataclysm, this however has just not been the case for me.
I remember having my mind blown the first time I stepped through the Dark Portal and was presented with the wonders of Outland. The excitement as the boat went through those amazingly high cliffs as I entered Howling Fjord (less excited by Borean Tundra), and even though I ultimately hated Vash'jir as a zone (water levels, bleh) it was still exciting to explore a strange new world and exciting new ideas for WoW.
When I loaded into the Jade Forest, my first thought was Meh. No excitement, no sense of wonder, nothing new or interesting for me to see. Just another forest in Azeroth, albeit yes a pretty forest, well detailed, etc, but really just more of the same jungles I've been looking at since I first encountered STV 7 years ago.
I felt the same on the Wandering Isle, yes it is pretty and polished, and I do love the architecture, but by the end of it I hadn't had a single moment that made me go "WOW" - like I had with the starting areas of Worgens, Goblins, and Blood Elves before them (less so with the Draenei)
I haven't researched to see if any of the later zones hold anything new or interesting, but so far Mists have not cleared to reveal anything interesting for me.
Apr 4th 2012 6:19PM I'm actually worried about this very same thing. I did get in the Beta and hopped right in and made a Panda and transferred over my favorite shammy, but now that I'm chugging along with the thing, I'm not sure what reason I will have to play Mists when it launches. That's probably my WoW Burnout talking, but as of yet nothing I've seen in the Beta has convinced me that it's going to be worth sticking around. After 7 years of non-stop WoW, I may finally be done.

Feb 29th 2012 5:41PM I'm in a similar boat to you. Having played the game for the last 6 years or so, I finally hit a point in this expansion back in Dec. where for the first time since I started playing I felt like I've accomplished all I care to accomplish in WoW and there wasn't really anything keeping me around. In January I started playing SWTOR, and I haven't logged back in WoW since, so now am in by far the longest break I've had from WoW since I started playing it. Like you, I went in for the year pass for D3, and have yet to figure out if it's more cost effective to bag the rest of the year and buy D3 when it comes out, or just keep my pass going for when Mists come out or when SWTOR loses its excitement. #firstworldproblems
Feb 16th 2012 7:38PM Is there a way to see crits and only crits. I haven't been able to find this option, and I find it hard to believe that I'm the only one who doesn't want to see all the numbers flying around the screen, just the big ones.
