Blizzard introduces tradable "Guardian Cub" companion pet, purchasable through the Blizzard Store {WoW}

Oct 10th 2011 1:16PM While I understand why this is being done, and it'll be interesting to see what happens, I don't plan to purchase one for myself. If it were BoA, I would; I love buying a pet that all of my characters will have. But I can't see myself purchasing one of these if only one character would get it. If I get one, it'll be a treasured gift the same way my sparklefart horse was an out-of-the-blue gift from my fiance.

I'll pass -- but I hope more BoA pets are available in the future.

Jul 22nd 2011 3:56PM I'd love a French client that works on the US servers. I want to improve my French vocabulary, and instructions and quest text in French will be an incentive to work on my grammar. So why is it that Canada, which has decided that French is an official language, doesn't get a French client? In Quebec, there are many Francophones (French-speaking people), and some Quebecois don't speak English (as you say). So why is it that the French client created for the EU doesn't work for NA?

I'd get a kick out of a Greek client, too. I'm half-Greek and never learned the language. But I don't think even the EU gets one.

Jul 12th 2011 5:56PM And the raven, never flitting, still is sitting, still is sitting
On the pallid bust of Pallas just above my chamber door;
And his eyes have all the seeming of a demon's that is dreaming,
And the lamplight o'er him streaming throws his shadow on the floor;
And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor
Shall be lifted nevermore!

Around Azeroth: This was pretty much inevitable {WoW}

Jul 7th 2011 12:32PM Finally -- someone else out there recognizes that the silver coating on the outer skin of the Hindenburg and Graf Zeppelin was comprised mostly of the same compound used in solid-fuel rocket boosters like those used by the shortly-being-retired Space Shuttle.

Airships built by the Zeppelin Company for the US Navy (USS Akron and USS Macon) used helium to lower fire risk but I believe the same flammable silver dope was used, so there was still some risk.

But just like the Concorde, the Graf Zeppelin and the Hindenburg carried a huge number of paying passengers in perfect safety before a single highly-visible crash caused loss of public trust. A second Graf Zeppelin was to have been built but it was scrapped before going into service, partly due to the Hindenburg crash. Concorde, meanwhile, was pulled from service even though the crash wasn't even the "fault" of the aircraft -- the cause was determined to be FOD from a Continental jet that took off just minutes prior to the doomed plane.

We're collectively very stupid about such things and place blame on people/things that don't deserve the abuse.

Patch 4.2 class balance explained {WoW}

Jun 17th 2011 1:21PM "Broken" apparently means "It was designed to work in a different way than what I'm trying to do" to some people.

"Broken" means "not working as designed, intended, or manufactured". Since the problem here was "not working as designed", it's being fixed and no longer will be broken.

I could try to tip my car up on two wheels and drive it that way (it's been done as a stunt) but the simple fact that I can't normally do that doesn't mean the car is broken. It just means I'm not using it the way it was meant to be used.

Patch 4.2 class balance explained {WoW}

Jun 17th 2011 1:18PM I think that would be a good thing, actually. People may not like change once they're set in their ways, but at least being told why something is being done will help many (but not all) people feel as if things are being done for good reason.
