Raid Rx: 5 reasons why you're not getting healed {WoW}

Aug 20th 2010 8:22AM "Yes, and usually it's because I'm tired of 12 year old children spamming racist and homophobic crap in party chat."

My rule: in LFD runs, the first person to say something is "gay" stops getting healed.

In a raid, that person gets a /w warning for the first offense and a /gkick for the second.

Yeah, they're probably kids... I'm not their parent, and I can't teach them to stop spewing homophobic crap, but that doesn't mean I have to put up with it. And if they're not kids... grow the hell up.

Upcoming Adjustments announced for Old Kingdom, Nexus, Culling of Stratholme {WoW}

Jan 12th 2010 7:18AM Because he gives quests for AN as well. And Dragonblight, I think.

Drama Mamas: Dungeon Finder loot advice {WoW}

Jan 8th 2010 9:54AM So here's my Battered Hilt situation.

I've seen it drop 4 times, all on patch day. I didn't win those rolls (we thought they were so common, nobody really worried about it). I've never seen it since. I run the new 5-mans every day with my Priest, Shaman, Druid, Paladin, and DK. If it drops in any of those runs, I'm mailing it to my Priest and completing the quest.

So what happens if it ever drops during a run with my Priest? Am I really expected to pass on the Hilt even though I need it for each of my 4 other toons? No way; I'm rolling along with everyone else.

What we do with loot once we win it is our own business, but I don't think it's entirely fair to say that gold is the main factor in determining whether someone tries for a second Hilt.

The Queue: Why won't you move, Mr. Bubbles? {WoW}

Jan 5th 2010 3:36PM The druid is massively, massively wrong. Not only don't shields stop bears/warriors from generating rage when hit anymore (as of patch 3.1), but Discipline specs into Rapture, which will give the Bear 8 rage when the shield is consumed.

My main is Discipline, and it still shocks me how many rage tanks are still running around complaining about being shielded. The 3.1 change was SEVEN MONTHS AGO.

Dungeon Finder bingo {WoW}

Dec 29th 2009 10:35AM "# Melee DPS attacking from the front. It's really not that hard, folks."

Every. Single. Run.

Seriously. The best was in H.AN, though. Only after our 2 melee dps got Pounded to oblivion by Anub did they listen when the tank asked them to attack from behind. Props to the Tree healer for not wasting a battle rez on them.

In defense of ignorance {WoW}

Dec 23rd 2009 10:41AM "tanked all the new icecrown 5mans last night, +defence is currently 528, still 12 shy of the cap.. so no, you don't. "

See, this is why the LFG tool is such a mixed bag. Because people assume that their own good groups and good luck mean that the normal rules and numbers are garbage.

You need 535 def to tank heroics. Period. I don't care about your gearscore or your DPS, but I do care about your def.

528 means you're not eating a ton of crits, but you're not eating zero, either. And it's not exactly tough to get to 535 either. Crafted BOEs and some well-placed enchants will get you there.

If you're not going to take the time to gear yourself up to tank heroics, then DON'T TANK HEROICS.

The ups and downs of the Battered Hilt {WoW}

Dec 16th 2009 10:41AM I saw it three times on patch day. The first was off the very first trash pull in the Forge. We agreed to greed roll on it. The tank needed and dropped the group.

Next group, we agreed to greed roll. I mean, after all, this thing was dropping ALL THE TIME, so there's no need to go crazy. Each of us had already seen it once. Rogue needed and dropped.

Next group, we all need rolled and I lost straight-up. Haven't seen it since.

Two of my guildies each got the hilt for TWO of their toons on patch day. They haven't seen it drop since either.

Breakfast Topic: Your random dungeon experiences {WoW}

Dec 14th 2009 10:27AM I'm most of the way to getting my Perky Pug on two toons (a DPS DK and a healing priest), and for the most part, I've had great experiences. There's the occasional undergeared hunter, but my tanks have had obscene avoidance/mitigation/health stats, and everyone was very competent.

But last night, I was thrown in with 4 guys from the same guild on the Maelstrom realm. The first surprise was that my priest was pegged as DPS, which is the first time that's happened when I sign up as hybrid. So I swapped to my Shadow gear and spec and decided to have a nice, brainless H.CoS run for a bundle of quick badges. We hit the timed window with a couple minutes to spare, despite the fury warrior's suicidal best efforts. The truly awesome part was where we downed Mal'Ganis, and these four idiots kicked me before the chest was lootable.

Now, even in my off-spec, I'm massively overgeared for H.CoS, so it's not like I needed the loot. But it would have been nice to be able to roll on shards. I'm not sure there's much Blizz can do about this, but it's happened to a couple of my friends when they go in with partly pre-made groups, and I'm beginning to think it's going to become a common practice.

Patch 3.3: The Dungeon Finder Guide {WoW}

Dec 8th 2009 12:34PM Maybe I missed this, but when does it tell you which dungeon you've been assigned to? Only when we zone in? Or when we're told our assigned roles? I could definitely imagine a situation where a hybrid might not be entirely confident in his/her ability to handle a certain role in a certain heroic.

Say you're fine to heal everything except H.ToC. Do you go into the dungeon finder as heals/dps, get told you're healing some mystery heroic, and just hope for the best? Or does it tell you that you're going to heal H.ToC before people zone in, so you can decline without showing your shame?

Which makes me wonder when you get the 15-minute debuff. Does it get applied when you accept, when you decline, or both?

Those fragile Venomhide Ravasaurs {WoW}

Aug 6th 2009 11:31AM I've done this on two toons now, and can confirm that you only get
splashed when you're actually attacking the venomhides. Take off
anything that has offensive stats and go unarmed. Depending on crowd
conditions it's probably faster to let the raptor reset when he gets
low on HP, but if you're relatively alone in Un'goro, feel free to
keep swinging til he dies. Unarmed and with no boosts to your
offensive stats, you can auto-attack for quite a while on the same
raptor.

Unless you're on Baelgun and anyone from [Armed and Hammered] is around. Then you'd
better expect to spend a lot of time getting your venomhides taunted
and killed.
