Warrior Q&A Analysis {WoW}

Jul 16th 2009 7:03PM Props for the Black Company name-check. It gets to what it's always seemed like the developers were aiming for with the separate Arms and Fury talent trees: Arms should be cool and efficient, where Fury should be about adrenaline and boiling blood. And they reinforced that in the Q&A, but it kind of brings up a fundamental problem with that approach.

The thing is, if they go for that philosophy, it's hard to see how an Arms Warrior would feel "right" while still using rage. Shouldn't a "soldierly" Arms Warrior have a slow, steady source of energy and not get stronger or weaker depending on how angry s/he is? Isn't the whole rage mechanic antithetical to the kind of playstyle that Blizz describes as "soldierly"?

Breakfast Topic: The ardent Argent {WoW}

May 25th 2009 12:01PM I ran through the intro quests on my druid main, did some more dailies, got used to jousting, and then couldn't figure out why I should care anymore. I just got my DK up to 80, and I probably won't bother with the Tournament until I decide I want a new title. Having been through the WoW.com guides and looked at the official Blizzard information, I still don't really understand the point (from the player's perspective; I don't care about the lore) of the Tournament. Is it just about doing some dailies for gold and maybe picking up a title or a mount? That's all cool and everything, but Blizz hasn't done much in-game to make me feel a sense of urgency or excitement. It's just sorta... there. Maybe there's more to it than I've seen.

The Queue: Uber Epic DPS {WoW}

I get what you're saying there, but it's really not the case that heroics are some big, scary thing that require absolute perfection right from the beginning. They're dungeons that are tuned for lvl-80 players. Let's not pretend that it requires a particularly high degree of skill to DPS in a heroic without causing your group to wipe.

The Queue: Uber Epic DPS {WoW}

May 11th 2009 9:07PM I don't have a dog in the DPS fight, 'cause I stand at the back throwing balls of light at my friends. But it sure seems like people are using this question as an excuse to brag on their leet DPS, and aren't really providing helpful information.

I've been running heroics with my guild and with PUGs for a couple of months, and I'd say that MAYBE 1/4 of the DPS players in my groups have been able to crack the 2.2k mark on bosses. 14-17k is what I see most often. And yet, we make extremely good time, get our bronze drakes, and rarely wipe.

So maybe those DPS are "doing something wrong" if they can't push out 2.5k in quest gear, but that's not the same as being unready for heroics.

The Queue: Noblegarden free! {WoW}

Apr 28th 2009 6:17AM I heard that there were problems with certain AOE effects and how they displayed on terrain, but did Blizz really make Consecration an invisible effect? I can't seem to find any setting to change or any patch of ground that will show its effect. I can watch the cooldown and I always have a good feel for about how long it lasts, but invisible Consecration makes being a Paladin a lot less cool. What's the story there?
