LFM: Massively is looking for a few good bloggers! {Massively}

Aug 13th 2009 1:05PM This is a cut and paste of something I replied to someone else, but I wanted to be sure you saw it, so here goes:

Most of this is about writing, of course -- but a little bit of knowledge about HTML goes a long way in helping your writing look its best.

Most of the time, you don't need to know anything about HTML. But knowing a bit of HTML can help you format your posts better. (Yes, we use a WYSIWYG tool to write posts, but there's a lot more you can do with HTML.) And sometimes, something goes wrong. Maybe you've cut and pasted something that had some extraneous HTML code in it. This can make a mess of your work and sometimes the entire site. You need to know a little bit about to figure out what's wrong and fix it.

As to image editing, you at least need to be able to grab images and resize them to fit in your postings. If you know more, sometimes this comes in handy for turning a boring screenshot into something more interesting. Take the screenshot from this post, for example... it's pretty, but kind of dull (though I did think it was a nice "hero embarking on an epic quest" shot). It could have been a lot more interesting with a funny speech bubble or a giant angry Hello Kitty menacing our hero. A great image is nearly as important as a great post.

Aug 13th 2009 12:51PM Well, sometimes we get beta keys, too.

Wow.com burns for a Warlock columnist {WoW}

Aug 10th 2009 11:47AM So long as you can pull off English spelling and grammar, your native language hardly matters.

WoW.com posts coming to Massively {Massively}

Jul 4th 2009 1:24AM We're not planning on increasing WoW coverage -- just changing the source of it. It would be silly for Massively to have as much WoW coverage as WoW.com does, but there's the occasional larger bit of news that's of interest to the MMO community as a whole. That's what we're interested in integrating.

Jul 4th 2009 1:18AM We're not aiming for more coverage of WoW on Massively -- we just want to be sure that when there is big news that may be of interest to the general MMO audience that we get it up quickly, and without simply duplicating work that we already have writers doing on WoW.com. The easiest way to accomplish both of these things is to simply use WoW.com's content, and let Massively's writers focus on covering other games.

Jul 4th 2009 1:13AM No worries, this will definitely not be every other post. Just the occasional bit of bigger news.
