Microsoft set to destroy Apple in every games market {Download Squad}

Mar 8th 2010 5:46PM "but can you really see developers siding with the iPhone when Windows Phone 7 is just around the corner?"

Developers almost always side with whichever platform has the larger installed base and would give them the most exposure/sales.

So right now:

iPhone/iPod touch installed base: 10M+
Windows Phone 7 Series installed base: 0

The answer seems rather obvious to me :)

1.1.3 iPhone Update Liveblog {TUAW.com}

Jan 15th 2008 4:25PM So....did it work Erica? From what it sounds, she got OktoPrep and the symlink in and updated to 1.1.3...does that mean it was successful?

DoCoMo to carry iPhone in Japan? {TUAW.com}

Dec 20th 2007 2:03PM I'm also echoing some comments earlier about Japanese cellphones. I'm Japanese, and I regularly go to Japan, but I can tell you that the UIs on these cellphones are horrendous. Yes, there are a lot of features, a lot of them really useless, and they're usually buried under a confusing set of menus.

Also, internet usage is still charged per kilobyte in most cases - I don't know of any unlimited internet use plan in Japan.

I've used the current iPhone Japanese input (go to a Japanese page and when you enter any text on a form, a Japanese keyboard will appear if you set it up right in the International Settings), and it's pretty nice. It could be faster, but it has predictive Japanese text, and it works pretty well. In fact, I find it easier to enter Japanese text than English because the predictive text input works so well.

So I think the iPhone might be a nice offering for Japan.

Nov 28th 2007 1:24PM Our guild has Kara and Gruul on farm. So far we've downed the 4 avatars (bear, eagle, dragonhawk, lynx), with the lynx being the easiest so far and the dragonhawk being the most painful.

ZA is a very healing intensive instance, as you need lots of mana to outlast the fights, esp if you have kara-level gear.

The dragonhawk boss was the most painful so far because of all the hatchlings to deal with, and the ~4.5k fire damage blasts to random people. I'm the pally tank so I'm watching the hatchers, gathering up all the hatchlings, and then avoiding the time bombs - crazy fight :)

May 4th 2007 2:37PM Umm...I'm Japanese, and although it looks like they are trying hard and do a decent job, they're still way off from sounding fluent. They clearly have an American accent, and it totally detaches me from the show. Me and my relatives chuckle and imitate their accent when we watch the show :P

Any Japanese person would instantly say that they don't sound Japanese.

New details to feed your Dragon Quest IX addiction {Joystiq Nintendo}

Apr 25th 2007 3:21PM As a veteran DQ player (I started with DQII in 1989 when I borrowed the game from my friend in Japanese school), I'm really disappointed that they went back to the turn-based system.

I felt it's time to break tradition and make the experience feel more dynamic. The turn-based system and random encounters are mainly holdovers from the 8-bit era, and they need to go. I was happy to see real-time combat in the first demo I saw, but now they're back to turn-based, probably because people complained.

I hope they don't bring back random encounters.

But can it cook? {Joystiq Nintendo}

Oct 11th 2006 5:38PM My wife and I actually used a few of the recipes in "Shaberu DS Ryouri Navi", and they actually taste pretty good and are easy to make.

A lot of the stuff in "Ryouri Navi" is basic, Japanese Cooking 101-type that most (Japanese) people know how to make, but it's still a really useful reference. It's perfect for searching for recipes based on the ingredients you have.

I'm looking forward to "DS Kondate Zenshu" (which literally means DS Complete Recipe Guide) :)
