Oct 6th 2008 12:46PM While your points are valid, consider that those concerns matter to EVERY class. So what about Hunters makes them unique from every other DPS class? That would be Pets, and thus, that is why people like to talk about them.
What made people choose to play a Hunter vs. say a Mage, or a Rogue, or whatever? Odds are it was because the Pet concept was appealing and satisfying.
The Devs could address EVERY concern that you have, and "fix" every issue, but if alongside that they said "And Pets will go away" or even just "And now there will be ONE pet, with one graphic, a random name, and identical stats" people would go ballistic. Because to them the concept of unique pets is so integral to what they want out of the class.
Sep 29th 2008 8:43AM By simplification he means streamlining and homogenizing mechanics. All casters are going to rely on the same stats, all Tanks rely on the same stats, etc. There won't be an obvious difference between say "Warrior Tanking Plate" and "Tankadin" Plate because in Wrath they'll rely on the same stats.
In theory gone will be stuff like "For encounter X you need 2 of class Y and 3 of class Z, and class A is worthless" -- Now it will be very much open by role Tank, DPS, Healer should all be fully homogenized. A War is not better than a DK, a Priest not better than a Dru, a Mage not better than a Lock, etc.
Sep 26th 2008 11:38AM I could see some possible strategic value in PvP. Nothing more annoying then getting sapped by a Rogue while your teammates keep riding away. Now a squad of 4 will roll up simultaneously when the mount poofs.

Is PvP challenging? Sometimes.
Is Raiding challenging? Sometimes.
Raid bosses drop the same loot whether you barely beat the encounter or have it on farm. The fact that Raiders can "farm" certain bosses implies that it is of inconsequential difficulty, yet they can get shiny lootz!
Now, do I believe that PvP and Raiding are the same? No. And I think Blizzard is trying to come up with a happy medium. But PvP isn't always "easy," and Raiding isn't always "hard."
