Aug 15th 2009 10:48PM Actually, I'm prot. Thanks for asking, though. :)
Aug 15th 2009 9:35PM "Clearing the vent channel" has aways struck me as something of a laughable nerd stereotype. Though we only run tens, so the vent chatter is lower by default, I think anyone in our guild would be laughed out of vent if they were seriously asked to keep quiet during a boss fight. Now "Hey dumbasses, shut up while I explain the boss fight." is an entirely different matter! :D
Indeed, when we were organizing Magtheridon PUGs at the end of BC, people who asked "H-hey guys, can we keep the chatter down?" were mocked mercilessly. You don't come into someone's vent channel and start dictating etiquette.
Really, to be absolutely frank about it, I play this game to have fun. That's talking about politics or cracking jokes in vent while we down bosses. You don't need PRECISION ULTRA FOCUS when you're taking down XT hard mode, nor will the flow suddenly be ruined if you have to remind someone to drop a spark near you. WoW is an incredibly easy game, it does not require silence that'll let you hear a pin drop. It is very, very easy. Let's not make it boring too.
Aug 14th 2009 5:38PM Nuts to that. With Ulduar bosses hitting for up to 60% of your health at times, the only stats pretty much ANY tank should be thinking about are the ones that keep them alive. If your threat takes a hit, let the DPS pay attention to Omen for once since 3.0. God forbid a hunter actually feigns death ONCE in Wrath.
Every patch I get progressively more miffed about Blizzard trying to balance talents for both PvE and PvP, invariably it just means nerfs to my specs for a part of the game I don't even do. Thanks for making the interminable CD on Hammer of Justice even longer again.
Aug 7th 2009 3:19PM Seeing as how every bit of DPS plate this expansion has been suffesed with hit, I can't imagine a player NOT wanting this axe. Our arms warrior has sometimes sat as high as 13% hit because there's simply nothing he can do to replace it.
Aug 7th 2009 3:14PM Re: prot/ret paladin keeping up demo on Vezax... just have him put vindication in his ret spec. Lord knows ret has like six extra talent points to play around with. He can afford it.
Jul 16th 2009 9:18PM Whining that paladin tanks bang out high DPS on Emalon seems akin to crying that a holy priests can hit 10k by spamming holy nova on the spider packs in Naxx. These are DPS numbers that don't matter, and really don't have any relevance. The only time they do is in situations like MAYBE Freya's adds, and even then the difference is negligible because 400 extra DPS over a whole twenty seconds is nice, but not exactly heartbreaking.
Paladin and warrior dps single-target is pretty close. I'd say within less than 400 of each other on our Uld 10 runs.
Jul 11th 2009 8:43PM Paladins have had thunderclap since the pre-Wrath patch. They're getting a demo shout equivalent next patch.
Jul 8th 2009 12:50PM Saying "But I can't PUSH THE BUTTON to make it work!" is the dumbest counter argument in the world. Here's the score: Ardent Defender only works when you ABSOLUTELY NEED IT TO WORK. This is last stand only firing when you die, it can't be "wasted" because if it wasn't used THEN YOU DIED. That is why it's ridiculously overpowered. It's automatic. I play a paladin myself, quit lying to yourself. I still maintain I'll be shocked if it hits live.
Jun 26th 2009 2:10PM If you are casting a spell you cannot block/dodge/parry/anything. Casting a spell in combat as a tank takes a lot of precision (and a good internet connection). In BC, Prot had to be VERY careful about when to weave AS into their rotation. Exorcism will not get a lot of use in combat, which sucks because I was getting used to it as an extra "taunt"
Jun 26th 2009 2:07PM I'm not sure if this is exactly what you meant, but I've heard it so many places on the net. This "complaint" about Ardent Defender makes no sense. Get it through your head: THERE IS NO WANT IT OR NOT with this talent. If it gets used, it gets used at a time when it was NECESSARY. Because if it didn't get used YOU WOULD DIE. That, in fact, makes it -better- than Last Stand.
WAY too better in my opinion. I play a Protadin, and I'd be shocked if this actually made it through to live. It's way too good.
Ibid the Beacon of Light change, which I didn't realize until now makes it possibly for a Holy paladin to keep up two tanks basically by himself. Crazy.
