WRUP: Everyone else gets drunk while I get beat up edition {WoW}

Sep 25th 2010 1:35PM Recettear is totally addictive... I'm also deep into it at the moment...
I blame 4chan hehe

Free for All: So, what does "MMORPG" mean? {Massively}

Sep 8th 2010 10:50PM Not difficult at all, use game taxonomy:

RPG = Role Playing Game. Which means pretty much levels, skill ratings, a means to improve your character / mech / weapon / spells / abilities through grinding / experience points. Item collection (another staple of the genre) and whatnot, pretty much all conventions of the RPG genre. But leveling is pretty much the most important one in computer RPGs (unlike pen and paper where actual role-playing takes place).

MM = Massively Multiplayer which just is a gimmicky marketing term used to denote the possibility of teaming with lots and lots of people, even if, like you said you only quest and do things with the same ten or so at a time.

O = Online. Uses the internet as a means of communication.

Pretty simple huh?

Just mindblowing.

WoW Moviewatch: Blue Sunny Day {WoW}

Dec 18th 2009 1:01PM Great video. Kinda sad but funny at the same time, I love these. Future Soon is also one of my all time faves, no cutting edge 3D stuff here, just simple, but well crafted machinima, and thats part of the charm, so cool!

The Daily Grind: Do you read the quest text? {Massively}

Nov 14th 2009 8:06AM Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't.

If I'm RPing then I try to read it carefully, as it helps me get into the atmosphere and get useful info about the setting for my character's own bg. If I'm just leveling fast or PvPing then I usually skip it.

As for my opinion about quest text, I think developers should try to ditch it. It's very old fashioned. I'd prefer some sort of machinima-like stuff with text ballons coming out of characters instead of reading pages and pages of quest logs... I won't demand Wrathgate style cinematics for every quest (one can dream) but real-time cutscenes with the same game models and just a bit of dialog ballons would be better and shouldn't be that demanding from a developers PoV, still a lot more demanding and resource consuming than the good 'ol text.

Dungeons and Dragons Online stress test tonight {Massively}

Jul 27th 2009 11:49PM This is where trolls say stuff like "LOL nub what stress test? This game has like one player k lol thxbai"

Please, I'm not a troll, just thinking.

I want to try this game, I'm big on D&D and since its free, I've got nothing to lose.

Mythic's Mark Jacobs leaves EA {Massively}

Jun 25th 2009 2:19AM Meanwhile I'll just keep playing WoW...

Good bye Mr. Jacobs. Good luck with whatever you do next.
