The Lawbringer: Mailbag 7.0 {WoW}

Oct 24th 2011 5:07PM I'll throw this out there:

I haven't read anything in detail on the whole "Battle.Net Wallet" deal -- but I'd guess the wallet is an escrow account. That is: Blizzard is holding the money for you, but until the money hits a bank account of your own, it's not reported income. If you receive, say, $2,000 on the AH and spend it all back in, you earned nothing. If you receive $2,000 on the AH and withdraw it, that is realized income and you'd have to 1099 it I'd imagine.

I'm no CPA, but that makes sense to me.

From iPhone to iPad: Plants vs Zombies {TUAW.com}

Apr 14th 2010 3:21PM One question I've had on the iPad version of PvZ:

The iPhone version was missing a number of features from the desktop version. Does the iPad version have those features reinstated? If it does, that would explain a lot of the higher price for it. If it doesn't, then it's a really severe case of double dipping it would appear.

(Some of the missing features: the challenge modes, survival modes, etc.)

Mar 16th 2010 9:06AM I would love a GRENADE. The TIny won't do me much good being Horde and all.

Win a copy of Things for Mac and iPhone {TUAW.com}

Feb 6th 2009 5:30PM I'm currently using a hodge-podge of Outlook, GCal, and a ton of legal pads. But I've tried the Things demo and have been really really impressed with it!

Ask TUAW: Mail.app problems, copying Time Machine backups, replacing an iPhone, GUI mockups and more {TUAW.com}

Aug 11th 2008 10:52AM Actually, the article is false in regards to getting a 1st gen iPhone. You can take your 1st gen iPhone to an Apple Store and asked for it to be repaired. They will tell you the screen crack puts your phone out of it's warranty, but you can have it replaced for a $249 charge.

I did that this weekend with a severely damaged 16gb original iPhone I bought from a guy. I saw it was under warranty, asked about repair, and was told by the Genius at the B'ham Apple Store I could have it repaired for a $249 charge. They pulled one from the back and I was good to go! (I don't know if it was brand new or refurbished -- but it came from a retail box and had all the plastic still wrapped around it. It doesn't have a single blemish on it.)

So Frank, if you're close to an Apple Store, go by and ask them to have it repaired. The worst thing they can tell you is no. And $249 at your current data rates is cheaper than $199 at the new rates.
