Mar 27th 2009 11:54AM Orc peons WTF. I LOVE them.
Mar 20th 2009 3:35PM Summoning stones are only for use by those who meet the "level range" of the dungeon. What does that actually mean — is there a strict "level 48 can use but not level 49" cutoff? I thought that Outland stones wouldn't work anymore for level 80s, but yesterday I was proven wrong, so I'm curious how much leeway we actually get. (Another complicating factor is heroic difficulty, which means all dungeons in an expansion can qualify as max level dungeons.)
Mar 5th 2009 12:56PM Falling off the cliff behind the Valley of Trials is actually a brilliant thing to do! Well, not on your first character, when you need to stay in the area, and not until you have a tiny bit of money. BUT: you fall into the water, the shellhides kill you in about 20 seconds, you'll rez at the *Ratchet* graveyard, and the flight master will automatically give you the flight link to Org. Boom, your level 1 is in Org four minutes after being created.
Mar 5th 2009 9:32AM Vendorbait really is awesome. I felt like the laziest person on earth for choosing to install it, but I LOVE IT. It's extra great as a clothie, where you can't equip more than 1 or 2 of the rewards anyway, so I'm able to turn in quests and walk away with either an upgrade or the biggest possible chunk of change in 3 seconds or less.
Feb 25th 2009 10:45AM Wow man, I have no idea why you're so down on Frostbolt proccing Replenishment.
First of all, it only covers 10 people. Two casters proccing it in a 25-man will just help cover all of the raid. Seems to me that ranged DPS is more sought than melee DPS these days, so it's VERY likely that there will be more than 10 mana-users in the group who could benefit from the buff.
Secondly, as a dyed-in-the-wool Spriest, I would love if proccing it was so easy as casting one spell! With 5 talent points in Improved Frostbolt, Frostbolt is a 2 second cast. Mage then spends 3 talent points in Enduring Winter. For an 8-point investment, you can proc Replenishment every 2 seconds! By casting a spell you'd be using anyway!
On the other hand, I can only proc it by casting Mind Blast while my Vampiric Touch DoT is up. Vampiric Touch (purchased for 1 talent point) is a 1.5 second cast and lasts 15 seconds. Mind Blast is a 1.5 second cast with an 8 second cooldown, reducable to 5.5 seconds via 5 talent points. I have invested 2 fewer talent points, but I can only proc Replenishment twice in a specific 15-second window, IF I'm paying attention, casting in the correct order, and managing my DoTs and GCDs well. Fights that involve a lot of movement hit Replenishment uptime hard. On trash pulls? Don't make me laugh, I have no time to get both of those spells off before that specific mob goes down. (Unless I pull a DPS no-no and specifically attack one of the unmarked mobs!)
Not QQing, I like both classes. (Spriests lost their glory when the old awesome Vampiric Touch was nerfed to Replenishment; at this point I don't really care who else gets access to it.) But I say cheer up, frost mages getting a straight-up gift here!
Feb 17th 2009 2:04PM This one...was a weird one. I really don't know why this set of dates was selected. It's NOT Valentine's Day, it's Ridiculouly Contrived Holiday Alterna-Name, so there's no reason it couldn't have been shifted to start on Sunday, or Wednesday a week later. Particularly because it *overlapped* with another holiday! That's just silly.
I was really stressed the first day, until I figured out the guards vs. citizens thing and that the gift collection turn-in gave you *choice* in the drop items. Motored along relaxed for two days, got my perma-peddle on the second gift and a collection of dresses. Then I panicked upon realizing that the candy bags were only RNG and I hadn't seen any yet. Even with concered effort (and believe me, we are dedicated "trick or treaters" in this household after Hallows End), I only ever got two bags of candy; thankfully those were enough. The second only came at 2am Sunday night, collected by my lovely GF after I'd gone to sleep!
On the other hand, I did enjoy interacting with others during this event. Listening for a /cry to locate hearts in need of mending, pitying the fool, and flirting with guards of every sex were all entertaining to me. I also got kissed by a HUMAN (/shudder) late Sunday night when I logged my troll rogue into Dalaran briefly. I think I made his life.
So, a draw in the end? Emotional rollercoaster, but some fond memories. That human though...would rather kiss Jeremiah Payson any day of the week.
Feb 13th 2009 10:17AM I can also verify this. Saw the red roses drop off the Prince in regular UK last night and they did trigger the achievement.
Feb 11th 2009 2:51PM Healbot is a nice alternative to Grid that's easier to use out-of-the-box. It still offers click-to-heal functionality (including indication of incoming heals from other healers running the add-on), HoT indicators, support for 5 mouse buttons, color-coded buff tracking, etc.
Feb 10th 2009 11:53AM There are A LOT of times that druids get the shaft though, because of things they can't do while shapeshifted. On my UP run last night, the *tank* had to shift back into cow form to activate the pillar that brings the statues to life. That's like a warrior starting battle without their armor on.
The majority of activation things in the game (right-click to start or collect or open) won't work while shapeshifted...you just sit there for 5 seconds spamming click wondering why it's not working.
Feb 10th 2009 11:44AM No, the riding turtle from the TCG already moves at normal foot speed.
