2.1.0 forum reaction: Paladins and rogues {WoW}

Apr 16th 2007 1:38PM Blizzard has said they intended rogues to be the top damage in the game. Most good rogues were already at the top, now were just going to smoke the dps competition in raids by a mile and there will be no question, even for crap rogues to be top dps.

PTR notes: Welcome to Ogri'la {WoW}

Apr 16th 2007 9:35AM I did the 5 man quests to kill the sons of gruul with 4 other guildies. I don't know if it's bugged or not, but what the quests asks you to do is kill the sons; after you kill each son the spawn a big clickable skull you loot to pick up your quest reward. We killed one on our own then headed to the place above shattrath for our next mob. There was a group already there killing the mob so my group was hanging out waiting to tag the next respawn. When the other group killed him, he spawned the skull and everyone could loot it, even my group. If it stays like that it shouldn't be too hard to complete the quest line at the beginning, especially with a high pop server.

Breakfast topic: How close are you to your friends in-game? {WoW}

Apr 16th 2007 9:29AM My raiding guild goes by a first name basis. We all have our own little 'clicks' we like to hang out with everyday, but every single person knows everyone. We always talk about RL stuff. It's conversation, and it makes raiding/farming go by faster. I can log on and not even play the game. I find myself sitting in Shattrath half the time just talking to friends on vent. I wouldn't be able to be in a guild that was 'strickly business'. I like to know the people I talk to and associate with everyday, it makes the guild stronger imo.

Under development page updated with new end-game content {WoW}

Apr 10th 2007 12:38PM So we can expect this patch in January 2008?

Brainstorming some new world events {WoW}

Mar 22nd 2007 1:29PM I agree with the holiday comment. Every year its the same thing...Holly gets kidnapped by the same elves, the same orphan needs to be saved..etc. etc. I think holiday events especially should be changed up every year. As it is now I don't even bother with half of them anymore. The first year we played wow I had fun figuring out and finishing all the holiday quests, as the rewards were new and exciting...Now its just, meh.

Brainstorming some new world events {WoW}

Mar 22nd 2007 1:24PM The possibilities are endless as far as world events are concerned. So many ideas have already been given. The main problem I see is how do you manage the process of world events through so many servers. Developer run world events are stuck on a few servers at most, like the ones mentioned. They went in the right direction with world events with AQ. It was a turn-in type event, with a gate opening.

I just think its not fair some servers to have real time live gm events and such, because most servers get left out. And you have to think about time zones..what if an event happens and I'm at work..I and many others have to miss out. Events like AQ that everyone can be involoved in at anytime - for a period of time, is the right step to take.

All in all, im getting pretty bored of raiding at the moment. My guild has kara down, maulgar and working on gruul with the new hotfix. SSC and such are coming soon, but its getting repetitive, and very boring. I'd really love to see some new stuff to do while I'm not raiding. Farming is getting pretty old.

An expansion a year? Blizzard says "we'll try." {WoW}

Mar 16th 2007 7:13PM Its the same old word war that blizzard has been waging since the start of WoW. They say one thing to shut us up, then when we call them out on what they said, they play the 12 y.o. word games saying 'nuh uhhh, thats not what I said'.

Anyone playing WoW should know by now not to trust anything about what you hear or read until you see it happen.

They have 10 months to put out an expansion based on the information they told us they were 'planning' to do. Based upon how long it took them to produce BC, I don't think we will have an expansion any earlier from a year and a half away from now.

Current content such as The Black Temple isn't even finished/released yet.

If they plan on staying on track with an expansion in 10 months, I'm thinking the only thing that will be in it is a few new opened instances with some fancy quirk to pvp somehow. It will be nothing like what BC brought such as a new continent, new races, etc. The next expansion is going to be a very big content patch they make you pay for.

IMO they need to straighten up the game they have before releasing new content and making everything unbalanced with classes and itemization. They especially need to work on raid encounters if they want anyone over a 1% of the player base to see end game content.

Blue Notes: Alchemy is random, the Consortium are swindlers {WoW}

Mar 9th 2007 10:41AM On our first week of starting kara with my guild I was at the entrance to kara making pots to hand out and I got the fortification flask recipe. It gives the guild the edge in progression. Being the only fort flask on the server, my guild is loving me for it. I farm the living crap out of mats and I have a couple of flasks for every single night on our tank(s). If I can score the assault one, I think I might quit the game and head straight for vegas.

Forum Thread of the Day: Karazhan's timer too long? {WoW}

Mar 9th 2007 10:22AM My guild runs two consecutive groups, and A team and a B team if you will. Our A team has cleared all but nightbane, our B team is on prince.

Having cleared kara with the A team for almost a month now, we do a full clear minus nightbane in two days of raiding. (We raid 6 days a week). The week long timer makes me, well, bored. I like the extra time to farm herbs for mats and such but having 4 days to be bored when your a raider is bad for business. I'd rather go from raid to raid than clear kara in two days and leave myself to twidle my thumbs for the rest of the week.

If they shorten up the timer for kara, it wouldn't be disastrous. If you can even clear kara, all that means is more t4 for your group. I think everyone would agree that t4 isn't even that much better than blues/various epics we already had.

As our A team gets faster and faster with the clears, we can sub out some of our more geared guys into the B team to help them progress. Sooner or later they will be on par with us. If we are able to clear in 2 days on a 3 day timer, it would allow us to swap into the other raid to help them without putting a damper on the A team's raiding schedule.

Quite frankly, the gear in kara isn't good enough to merit a week long timer. The more you do kara, the easier the boss fights become. If everyone in A team got 2 pieces of t4 in a few weeks what would that change? I know certain people that don't even want there t4 because its just that bad, and they even nerfed the rogue stuff...week long timer just to stall us on 25 man progression it what it seems like. Blizzard is smart yet linear in their intentions toward progression.

Breakfast Topic: Is raiding just too hard? {WoW}

Mar 2nd 2007 10:55AM Bramd, no offense but moroes, opera, etc, are easy. You can kill half the stuff in kara with blues/greens. Kara isn't the problem, you haven't even seen the problem yet. Try kazak, try mauldar, try getting 25 people keyed for any raid after kara. It's not about 'wanting' to raid and waiting to get gear to progress. Trust me, my guild has slammed kara, we have epics, we have the best gear possible to start gruul, and Comsumables, gear that isn't any better than quest rewards and dungeon 3, mobs that hit for 13k...Kara is a walk in the park compared to a 25 man.
