Apr 14th 2010 5:35PM @Adeany:
Actually, I do play a Shadow Priest. It isn't my main, but it is one of my primary alts. On top of that, I work with two separate Shadow Priests on a pretty constant basis, and know quite a bit about how they've felt through the expansion.
Shadow Priest DPS was more than fine for both Naxx and Ulduar- the only reason they began falling behind in ToC was because of the sudden new prevalence of Haste on most caster gear, especially at the detriment to other stats that Shadow Priests found very important at the time- Spirit, and Crit, for example.
The Haste buff was put in as a way to fix that slowly widening hole- but it did not take the entire expansion. Furthermore, you spent the entire Burning Crusade expansion as one of the few Hybrid specs that could compete with pures all the way to Illidan and Kil'Jaeden. You were indispensable on the Yogg-Saron and Hardmode Anub'arak kills as well.
Please. I do know quite a bit about the history and play of Shadow Priests.
Apr 14th 2010 5:03PM I'm sorry for how long and belligerent this post is, but I think it's needed.
First off: We have no information on Life Grip. You assuming it'll be Holy, and you could certainly be right, but which is more important- a single GCD spent saving the raid, or wiping with higher DPS?
You also nail Inner Will for something that even Blizzard says is situational. I'm not sure if you knew this, but, there is substantial evidence that shows that the strongest enchant on your character, bar none, is your boots. Why? Because any fight that has you moving for more than 5 seconds every minute, it is a DPS buff of 80+ DPS... with ilevel 200 gear. In modern gear? You can expect it to be much closer to 300-450 dps.
You also insist that you have no clue how Shadow Orbs works, and that is a valid complaint- but then use Hunters in your example of classes that got 'better' reviews. You realize they are changing to a completely new, impossible-to-check Resource system? Furthermore, Marksman gets a similarly confusing Mastery? Or perhaps we should point out that Enhancement gets a flat nature damage bonus, which currently is only 25% of our damage, assuming we don't use the fire steps in our rotation? Add to that, that a fire spell is going to be taking situational priority from one of their nature-based spells, and you see another issue.
Also: You're unsure if Blizzard has /earned/ the benefit of doubt regarding Shadow? Lets look at what they did to Shadow in the course of WotLK:
Made it one of the top Hybrid DPS Specs
Made it one of the favorites for a DPS spec on an Arena Team
Gave it several buffs in the haste patch where every other benefiting class got only one spell tied to it
...do Shadow Priests have nothing to complain about? Of course not. But your entire post is little more than whine and QQ, with huge, obvious logical fallacies at nearly every turn.
Furthermore, you make the complaint that Priests are losing quite a bit of utility- a relatively valid complaint- but fail to realize you still carry quite a bit of utility by simply being a Priest. Fortitude is still a buff exclusive to your class. Shadow Protection is an incredibly powerful buff, which you sacrifice nothing but a reagent to put up- where a Paladin must sacrifice one of their own raid buffs to put it up.
Please, in the future, temper your posts with give and take, and understand the relationship your class plays to the roles set up in the game that other classes play as well. This entire post reads like a tantrum from someone who knows incredibly little about other classes and specs- please, educate yourself.
Jul 12th 2009 3:01AM I'm sorry Mr. Rossi, but I just couldn't pass this up again. You prove yourself time and time again as someone who knows very little about the Shaman class, or at least, you feign ignorance well enough to make such horrible comments as "Hardly massive changes, but at the same time pretty welcome." in regards to today's changes.
The separation of Wind Shock into Wind Shear and a separate cooldown from the rest of the Shaman arsenal is a gigantic change that could singlehandedly change Enhancement Shaman PVP forever. Combined with the MW:Hex change, and the ghost wolf change we've known about, this could propel Enhancement Shaman to a place we simply haven't been in the world of arenas, ever before.
Honestly, I do my best not to read your posts on this site about Shaman, because as well as you know a few things, your overall knowledge of the Shaman class is not only lacking, but it's harmful to the community as a whole. I hope WoW.com finds better to write their Shaman posts.
Jun 15th 2009 9:18PM Oh, settle down. I was thoroughly entertained. Sure, it's not JUST LIKE GAMEPLAY, but seriously, I'm not entirely sure anyone wanted to see that.
And the giving a shit about the female vs male thing? Yeah, seriously; Looking too far into it. Settle down.
Nov 9th 2008 7:33AM I probably want this more than anything else. I've wanted to get into the card game for awhile.
Nov 8th 2008 11:47AM I would love that. It'd fit my Draenei's anti-Naaru stance well.
Oct 12th 2008 3:10PM What items do weaponsmiths have to look to in the beta? I'm a Shaman, and outside of the sockets, its looking like nothing in Blacksmithing will fit for me very well.
Sep 14th 2008 11:56PM Enhancement Shaman won't be hit hard at all. Chances are, we'll be the #1 DPSers in the game after 3.0: I'm getting 400 AP from 3.0 alone.
Aug 17th 2008 7:16AM You guys ought to do a writeup on Whisp. WIM and Cellular both took so much to do what I wanted them to- they aren't very elegant solutions for tell handling at all. Whisp on the other hand, is beautiful. Not tons of features, but the instant you use it, you realize you didn't need them.
