Mike Morhaime on the Activision Blizzard merger {WoW}

Dec 3rd 2007 6:25PM I ran into a bug late last night and had to ticket a GM. Didn't get any help though the ticket was 'escalated'.

When asked if there was anything else he/she could help with, I asked what they thought of the merger.

The GM is looking forward to "World of Guitarcraft".

PvP reward inflation leaves newcomers in the dust {WoW}

Nov 29th 2007 4:21PM Nah, just have a gladiator/gladiator team arena. No rewards other than honor points but you can use your armor and weapons.

PvP reward inflation leaves newcomers in the dust {WoW}

Nov 29th 2007 4:19PM I'm not advocating removing rewards from BGs or Arena or PvP in general. Sure, keep giving phat lootz to the top 5% but remove the gear requirement so it's about smart talent choices and skills.

As for the others mockingly wanting to run BT after dinging 70, I've had enough trouble with just SL and this 'just honored rep for heroics' hoopla. Point matching is a start but even you can just start another team over and over, what's the point other than sink money in because A) you suck *cough*, B) you're pwned by purps, or C) all of the above?

Nov 29th 2007 3:35PM This whole 'The better you and your gear is, the better you kill, and get better gear' thing ruins arena.

"Arena" makes it sound like some sort of fair competition, matched levels and what not. It's more like a pyramid scheme where anyone up top makes off with everything worthwhile. This wouldn't be a problem except that it simply makes them even more powerful in the arena.

Arena should have been with premade gear sets only. Talent however you want and pick pieces from sets tailored to one of your talent trees. Everything else will be a matter of team makeup and skills, not epics loaded with epic gems and 500G enchants.

srly phail bliz :(

Around Azeroth: Meet Murmur {WoW}

Nov 29th 2007 12:57PM Ah, Murmur. I'd much rather fight it than Mr Mass Mind Control or Jerkbutt 'Hey, watch me summon a billion elementals that assplode, killing you and healing me!' McOrc'lock.

That said, GET IN THE HUT! GET- ok, well, I'll just go over --> there and you can bandage yourself.

Good times....

The Light and How to Swing It: Command vs. Blood {WoW}

Nov 28th 2007 7:47PM I didn't mean SoV for PvP. I was just talking about how alliance gets that and horde get SoB.

Maybe they're just trying to give people a headstart on how to Deathknight....

Start stacking that parry rating!

The Light and How to Swing It: Command vs. Blood {WoW}

Nov 28th 2007 4:40PM This is more @ Scott but can't reply directly so...

I dunno.... I like the idea that they're branching the talent trees as far as necessary even if it does screw some out of hard earned gear.

This way, ret pallies aren't chasing after strength, intellect, spell damage/hit/crit, and attack power/hit/crit. Yeah, Belfs get a lead here but you know, some variety is nice. I haven't been able to play with SoV but from the sound of it, I think it'd be a nice addition to the tanking seal/judgement cycle...

SoCr(usader)
JoCr
SoV
...stack DOTs...
JoV
SoR/SoW as needed...

IIRC, the SoV DOTs don't go away when judged and it keeps the initial Judgement of Crusader +holy damage so long as the DOTs don't go away.

The Light and How to Swing It: Command vs. Blood {WoW}

Nov 28th 2007 3:12PM Oh, said mana costs could even be halved if three talent points are invested into Sanctified Judgement. Very PvE friendly.

The Light and How to Swing It: Command vs. Blood {WoW}

Nov 28th 2007 3:09PM Ok, so this is all about damage so far but what about mana cost (your's and your healer's)?

Healer mana cost is easier to quantify.

6,825 + 4,495 = 11,320?
6,825*0.1=683~
4,495*0.33=1483~

Ok, so 2166~ over a minute is nothing to fret about. A renew (450MP) would overheal after four ticks and, when I was shadow, Mind Flay, SWP, and VT would heal around 80-100 per tick.

Judging and resealing is another matter. With talents, you can judge 14 times over 2 minutes. With Benediction (and to go with the damage per minute), that's 1343MP for SoB and 1785MP for SoC....

Ok, so yeah, Blood seems like the winner. Cheaper mana-wise and easy enough to heal through. I wouldn't expect Belfs to be using it all the time in all situations; sometimes you need every cooldown for the tank or there's AOE damage.

That all said, 10k-11k damage over a minute doesn't seem like all that much.

Any ret pallies want to chime in on this?

To WoW, perchance to dream {WoW}

Nov 26th 2007 4:41PM Since this is sure to bring out the "This one time, I dreamed..." replies, I'll add my recent one.

I healed BM twice and I think there was some other instances that went on all in one night. First BM was with a pally tank but the second was with a warrior so it was more hectic. ...and that's what I dreamed (or could say had a nightmare of) all night in a half asleep sort of way. Can't wake up or we'll wipe!
