If Blizzard does think this is a thing to make live, I hope they make it hard so people who don't try don't get best in slot items.

The current VOA is stupid. Pug Naxx till 4 Horsemen or Thaddius or do a 10min instance and really not needing to do anything.
Get 2050 personal rating or do a 10min instance and not needing to do anything.

It's an absolute joke. Yes I will benefit from this, but It will feel wrong.

It's stupid that Blizzard tries and balance PvP and as a result it resonates and affects PvE. Why can't they make it certain abilities behave differently in PvP and PvE situations like other MMORPGS have done.

Mar 6th 2009 11:57PM Howling Blast - Two sides. The changes is a *buff* to Frost DPS and Frost *single target* tanking. But, it's a major nerf to frost AOE tanking. If a "frost" DK wants to specc for reasonable aoe threat then they specc hybridily into unholy or blood for unholy blight or improved blood boils. The cooldown on 10sec is too cruel, and the removal of damage delt by pestilence hurts them. Pestilence no longer does snap threat, minor but significant. You need to wait for the dots to tick to redeem the threat. Blood boil buff isn't compensation enough, it does not proc Blood of the North, nor does it do as much damage as blood or unholy's aoe. Frost is now a single target tanking tree and the aoe tanking element of it, has died. I am talking in encounters like Sarth where a tank needs to pick up adds and hold them. Why have poorly specced tank for that sort of job when your dk can be unholy or blood and do a more efficient job?

Frost Presence - Don't mind, I'll live.

Guile of Gorefiend - Buff for Tanking DKs as they have passively low base crit anyway (without taking in account specific talents).

Lichborne - It makes me cry... But I'll live. Maybe it was a little too OP but the CD was reasonable/little bit generous. Give us an alternative that's on a 6min CD? Then again, frees me a talent point.

Might of Mograine - Tank buff, look at my comment of guile of gorefiend.

Vampiric Blood - Fair change, was rather overpowered in its current state.

Blade Barrier - I am sad about this. That 10% was awsome avoidance and threat through runestrike procs. On the other hand, the advantage of maintaining 5% damage reducation is lower so screw ups are less punishable. And with upgrades with gear, 5% damage reducation > 10% parry in some cases.

Bone Shield - I felt dirty using boneshield anyway. Least I feel a little bit comforted that unholy got e-slapped too.


In short: I don't care about blood, nor unholy tanking. Just I'm saddened that the changes to howling blast and pestilence has destroyed pure frost aoe tanking, and that the most efficient way to specc to aoe tank efficiently is hybrid or go unholy/blood.
On the other hand, gives me an excuse to not go on small add duty and specc full single target tank specc.
For my own selfish reasons I hope we need to use CC in Ulduar.
I suppose the bloodboil buff allows frost DKs to do more ranged DPS on encounters like Kel and 4 Horsemen when you don't want melee stacking up closely or Malygos when standing on a spark patch and he's flying off for phase 2.

Frost isn't viable enough for PvE so my concerns is Fire. My calculations is that with my gear, Molten armour gives me 11mp5 less than Mage Armour but it gives me 3% extra crit which over a period of time would result in more damage than the extra 5.5mana every second.

Is Spirit still a dead stat for mages?

Also, where is a good website source for Death Knight theorycraft? My main concern is that Frost seems the more dominent tree for Raid Tanking and there exists duel wield specialisation. Wouldn't duel wield mean you hit the boss more often thus the boss has a higher chance to parry your attacks and reset its swing timer = spikier damage. Therefore needing a chuck loads of expertise in relation to the speed of your weapons. And tanking with a 2her would mean lower tps of less frequency of hitting the boss.

And at 80 are arcane mages and retradin paladins dominating PvP and hunters face-in-the-mud?
