Aug 24th 2008 10:35AM I love it when idiots say "You do the math". Its usualy because they cant count past ten without taking off their shoes.
May 30th 2008 11:18AM Oh I know what this is. This is a reference to Alice in Wonderland. There is a catapillar smoking a hooka at the bottom of this mushroom iirc. this is the smoke ring he produces.
May 14th 2008 9:41AM This site is not an appropriate forum for race discussions.
And now this crap post will be up on the right side of the main page for the next month.
Shame on you wowinsider for pumping up your post counts by piggybacking onto a topic that obviously neither you nor the bulk of your readership has much to say that is any help whatsoever.
Apr 16th 2008 12:20AM Chilton is a tool. But he is an effective tool.
Get people to complain about useless crap like world pvp nostalgia and perhaps no one will talk about how broken his precious Arena system is.
Every wonder why your 1500 ranked team looses 18 points to teams with perfect focus fire and good pvp gear who obviously play together all the time?
There is your answer. Some jerkwad is leveling back their loosing team after dropping all their points to their 2000 ranked primary team. Your precious 18 points will be handed over to a top team so that they don't have to earn them by fighting good teams.
But hey... as long as we are complaining about buying arena team spots and world pvp nostalgia... he can just ignore it and act like it doesn't happen.
Apr 15th 2008 6:02PM If any of you were wondering what Win Trading is all about... check out this handy post from four months ago right here on Wowinsider.
I know it sucks to tell people how to cheat... but no one seems to know what this is or to understand how bad it is. Read it and think about it. Hard Core PvPers are farming their 2k+ ranking off of 1500 ranked teams because they know that even by cheating only a tenth of a percent of players can reach those ratings.
Apr 15th 2008 5:55PM Its done with two different teams man.
Ill outline it for you. I know I'm telling people how to cheat here but hopefully if enough people know about it then it will be fixed.
Take two teams. Fill one with your elite PvP mains. Fill one with PvP alts. Level your alts up to 1700 or 1800 (more if you can). Then pick an off peak time for your Battle group (like 2 am Wed morning) and que both teams while on vent with each other. Looser enters Arena first. If Winners have the same BG pop at the same time then they enter it and likely are against their loosing team. if half your matches are against this loosing team... and you win half of your other matches... then you have a 75% win percentage for the week. Now its your turn to loose to your buddies with a different team. Then.... and here is the worst part... the next day... they take out their loosing team which now has a 1200 rating having lost 20 games in a row the night before... and start PvPing against you and me and all the other midlevel teams in the 1500 bracket. They are geared in good gear, they are experienced pvpers who play together almost every day, and as you would expect... they melt faces untill they get back up into the 1600 - 1800 brackets.
This is how they farm points off of average players and give them to their high ranked teams.
This happens every day.
Posts about it on the boards are deleted.
Wowinsider had an item about it four months ago and yet no one seems to know about this stuff.
Apr 15th 2008 5:31PM Notice also that in the interview he doesn't at all address the real problem facing Arena PvP right now. The biggest exploit in arena right now is Win Trading. They have never addressed that problem at all. They dance around it by stopping people from buying their way onto teams and what not... but really... who cares about that. Does it affect the average player? Not at all. But win trading has effectively farms points off of low ranked entry level teams and pushes them onto high ranked "elite" teams. Its so prevalent that I have no respect at all for successful arena players whatsoever. I pretty much just assume they are win trading cheaters scrubs unless I know them personally. And most of the time I'm right about them.
So T.Chilton... why ignore the elephant in the room? Could it be because you and your friends are doing it yourselves?
Apr 15th 2008 4:32PM Chilton is a scrub. He explains off the lack of representation of hunters and other classes in high level arena by saying that they are hard classes to play but that a good player on a hunter will be as good as any other class.
Soooo... in a round about way what he is saying is "hunters are fine lrn 2 play"
We are talking about a class whos entire dmg portfolio can be canceled by one of two strats.
1. Run behind pillar.
2. Run up to hunter.
And what is Toms fix for that?
Give hunters Mortal Strike. Only make it a three second cast time so they cant actuality use it against anyone who is paying attention. Oh and make sure the cooldown on it is longer than its duration. Oh and lets nerf their mana regen in the next patch too so they are totaly screwed in arenas where mana is as important as life.
And what class does he play?
SUPPRISE! Warrior! Spamstring FTL.
His friends get inside info and post hints about upcoming changes on the forums. And then when people realize how unfair the situation is all of his friends posts are removed from the official boards so no one can see his shame.
He has repeatedly damaged the PvE viability of classes in order to try to balance his precious PvP. And at points it seems that the nerfs and buffs are less a result of any attempt to balance PvP... but more of a result of his personal interests in improving classes that he and his friends enjoy playing and nerfing the classes that are particularly strong against those classes.
It is impossible to balance PvP and PvE. It will never happen unless they make every class identical. But as of now PvE aspects of the game have taken a back seat to PvP because of people like Tom Chilton.
Apr 14th 2008 6:36PM Yeah check the numbers on the site. None of them even add up. But if you were going to take any info from it then look at the percentages. 82% of people above 2k rating don't even qualify for the new shoulders.
Only a tiny percentage of people will qualify for the new gear.
Just look at the armory. On my Battlegroup only 25 5v5 teams currently have the 2200 rating or better.
There are 4000 teams with a 1501 or better rating in the same Battlegroup.
Apr 14th 2008 3:15PM Arenas are a joke. They are filled with cheating and win trading. Win traders farm points off of people in the low rating brackets while leveling their alt teams up and then transfer those points to their main team by loosing over and over to them in pre-arranged fights. This drops their alts back into the 1200 -1300 bracket for more point farming the next day.
Your average player is faced with teams that have the organization, skill, and gear of a high level arena team but a measly 1200 or 1300 rating. At best the average player could hope to pull a 10 win out of the deal while the cheaters are pretty much guarented an 18 pt windfall off of the fight.
And Bliz has no desire to shake off the cheaters suckling at their bovine teats and trampling on the bulk of pvp players because most average players don't even know they are being scammed! They figure "hey they must just be lucky or something" and continue on their way loosing over and over. I honestly dont understand how anyone trying to get into the PvP system now without having Teir gear to bolster them on their way could ever hope to bypass the barrier to enter of these cheating alt toerags.
Bliz knows this cheating happens every day. It would be fairly easy to track down who is doing it and punish them. But it will never happen. Why? I couldnt hazard a guess. But by upping the rating requirement for these items and not cleaning up the cheaters that ruin the system for most people all they are doing is encouraging more cheating and eliteist prickery that is based not on actual skill, but cunning, guile, and lack of personal character.
Bliz... making better people for a better tomorow.
