Spiritual Guidance: Don't panic {WoW}

May 10th 2010 3:04AM I think the issue with chakra is pretty much just what you said.

All the other healers will have to be able to heal both single target and AE. But they won't be required to cast three spells in a row before they can really get started. So if chakra is going to be worth taking, then the way you heal with chakra active needs to be significantly better than the others because otherwise people will shrug and say 'We could use a priest but they have to ramp up, just let a shaman/ paladin/ druid do it instead."

The Daily Grind: When did giving a MMO a second chance win you over? {Massively}

May 1st 2010 9:03AM I'm going to get burned here for this but it was WoW for me. When I first played it, I levelled a warrior, thought it was fun, got bored and then quit.

Later I was persuaded to go back and play with a friend. We picked a different realm and faction and this time I tried a healer. And it just clicked for me totally.

Balancing class strength and flavor {WoW}

Mar 13th 2010 1:21AM There is one thing I want on my warrior and that is the ability to smoothly switch from tanking to dps mid-fight, the way a DK or druid does. Because right now, I think Blizzard has this confused setup where two tanks can do that and two can't, whilst it is STILL a core part of the role for any fight which needs off tanking.

Officers' Quarters: The A team question {WoW}

Mar 9th 2010 12:32AM You seem to be assuming that every player can aspire to the A teamm, and you can rotate people in and out at will. But in practice, if 10 of your best players have gone off and organised 10 mans privately, they'll exclude everyone else on purpose. So the players who are good but not in the 10 man clique will either have to settle for a mostly B player run which they may have to organise themselves, quit 10 mans altogether, or leave. Whatever happens, you've pissed off some of your best players who just don't happen to be in the A clique.

The Daily Blues {WoW}

Mar 5th 2010 11:27PM Those links at the bottom aren't blue posts! (Maybe a separate post for the other Blizzard related news, rather than sticking it in at the bottom of the daily blues?)

WoW.com Guest Post: What Cataclysm might mean for guild alliances {WoW}

Mar 4th 2010 8:16PM Good post. I am in a guild alliance between three guilds and it's been going strong for years. That's years in which each individual guild has it's own atmosphere, own history, own /identity/ and yet we still get together to raid.

It's quite sad that Blizzard didn't support guild alliances at all. We don't have any options for an alliance bank or alliance chat channel for example (sure, we can use custom channels but if they can do guild channels and officer channels then why not an alliance one?). Because an alliance like ours means that our guilds can be friendly and social and the people who want progression raiding can still get together and do it without having to leave their friends.

We don't want to form one big guild and leave our guild identities behind, and be pushed into something we just don't want. I think it would have been better for the game if Blizzard had encouraged guild alliances and casual progression raids that didn't require people to leave their guilds and join 'a raid guild', but instead they don't seem to really get it at all.

The Daily Grind: Would you pay for a trial? {Massively}

Feb 25th 2010 8:29AM I think it's a great idea, especially if they give you a fast download.

The Daily Grind: Massive raids or minimal raids? {Massively}

Feb 12th 2010 8:51AM I've enjoyed both types of raid, but I do miss the huge public raids we used to run where everyone could just turn up and take part.

WRUP: What we're looking forward to edition {Massively}

Jan 30th 2010 10:12AM I'm going to try to get some time in on the STO headstart this weekend with the rest of my fleet, really enjoying it so far.

For the rest of the year, I'm looking forwards to the dragon age expansion, FFXIII and XIV (yes, FF fangirl :) ), and cataclysm. I still have to finish defence grid the awakening and psychonauts too.

Drama Mamas: When the boot feels like Das Boot {WoW}

Jan 29th 2010 9:12PM I think you have a rather different view of the PUG raid leader's responsibilities than I do. If I was leading a raid for friends or alts then no one would get booted, but people who got recruited from trade chat? If my husband wants in, then one of them gets a polite 'sorry, one of my guildies needs the spot' and a kick. Running a PUG raid is hassle enough without not being able to bring your friends, it's actually very easy to lose count of the numbers when being spammed for invites.
