Feb 4th 2010 4:43PM Moonkins are definitely turrets, and suffer hugely from movement. That said, having played a boomkin and also an elemental shaman I can say with certainty that an ele would be an even worse choice for having to move. Ele suffers even more.
Feb 4th 2010 12:18PM Except that a paragraph from Blizzard's PoV would still say that it IS on fact broken (they already admitted this), as would a paragraph from just about anyone who knows what they are talking about.
There is no argument here, all raiding voomkins can easily tell that it is in fact broken. The only question this article addresses is HOW is it broken. Whether or not it is broken frankly isn't under debate by people who know what they're talking about at all.
Feb 4th 2010 12:11PM AE is rarely important enough for your point to be relevant, and the AE cap comes into play in exactly one WotLK encounter. But let's look at it anyway.
Hurricane? Underpowered? Is this a joke??!!
In my guild, the boomkins are less geared than most others and always always ALWAYS at the top of the chart on AE. I mean if you look at the meters and how hurricane compares to volley, even Mage and lock AE, hurricane comes out so far ahead it's ridiculous. The only class that i've seen come close is a skilled DK.
Whether it's the trash at the beginning of ICC, or the whelp of Onyxia, from what I've seen Hurricane is the best there is.
This obviously isn't a difference of skill between my guilds' boomkins and yours. 100% of these numbers come from hurricane, one button. So I don't understand where you are coming from, hurricane is easily close to if not the most powerful AE ability in game.
Jan 9th 2010 5:10PM @tapuk: I respect your opinion, but tend to disagree with the notion that more nerfs come about as a result of PVP than PVE. It seems to me to go both ways. If someone is doing too much damage in PVE, they get a nerf. That affects PVP as well.
Regardless, I'm most certainly not trying to argue that PVE shouldn't affect PVP -- rather, I'm suggesting that nerfs affecting both PVP and PVE are an inherent part of a game that has both PVP and PVE. I just don't think it's something to get so up in arms about as much as people do. Blizzard does a really good job of making both aspects of the game fun.
Jan 9th 2010 4:58PM Some of the things I said came across much harsher than I intended and I apologize. Normally I would have edited them to come across less QQey, which was the very problem I had with the post to begin with. This is my fault and I apologize.
You can disregard anything I've said prior to this. The one and only point I want to make is that instead of insulting people (and yes, "LEARN. TO. READ." IS an insult, don't try to convince me otherwise, that is how it was intended, and that is how it came across) we can have coherent discussions about changes. This is the problem with the WoW community (and I'm sure not just the WoW community but the Internet and the world in general). It is possible to disagree without thinking the other person is scum of the earth whose opinions mean nothing.
Now, like I said, I understand I wasn't doing the best job of this myself, and for that I sincerely apologize. Let's all try to make progress towards discussing our points constructively without belittling the people on the other side. If you can't agree to that at least, you're not a person that's even remotely worth communicating with.
Jan 9th 2010 4:15PM Downrated for saying hurling insults isn't the best way to communicate?
If you disagree with what I said before so be it, but downrating THAT? You people are clearly going to be oh-so-successful in life. Not.
Jan 9th 2010 3:18PM Matt, I can read just fine. You really need to calm down.
I regret starting this with "this is a bad article". That was clearly not the best way for me to open what is otherwise just a constructive feedback post.
It is possible to disagree without hurling insults, or claiming someone can't read. I can read, I have very good reading comprehension thank you. I'm actually a genius. That doesn't really have any effect on this.
CALM DOWN. This change is NOT the end of the world and it does NOT warrant yelling and treating other human beings like shit.
Jan 9th 2010 3:05PM Lol, make some reasonable posts on a warrior nerf, get downrated and insulted by angry nerds. Not sure my I expected any less.
Jan 9th 2010 3:00PM Ever think for minute that PVPers are sick of PVE "ruining the game"? You are so selfish and angry.
Cool it. The game is not ruined. if you honestly think it is, go play something else. Quit making every little change sound like the end of the world.
I and many others like this game because it does a fantastic job of balancing both PVE and PVP. Both aspects of the game are very fun. Not perfect, but fun.
This is Blizzard's game not yours. If you don't like that this is a PVE AND PVP game and not just the part you like, seriously, go find a PVE only game. You might have more fun. I for one love arenas almost as much as raiding hardmodes and much more than the rest of PVE content which lacks any challenge at all, it's like watching movie. I like WoW. That's why I play it.
Now instead of saying the game is ruined every time a tiny change is made please go play a game that isn't ruined for you. you'll have more fun, and people won't have to read through your selfish, near-sighted QQ.
Jan 9th 2010 2:49PM Matt maybe you should learn to read yourself. Seriosly. Read what I said. Did I say you didn't even mention the changes? NO. NOWHERE. I said you didn't explain them and that remains true.
Given the nature of this QQ of an article in the first place I don't really expect you to take constructive critisism well but this article is just really poor and you can do better.
If you disagree with the changes fine. But don't add to the cesspool of unconstructive QQ. This whole post feels like reading a troll on the wow forums. I guarantee you ghostcrawler wouldn't find this to be constructive or helpful in any way.
At this point continuing to debate this topic seems rather pointless. I've said what I feel take it or leave it.
