Sep 11th 2010 4:33PM Husband and I feel that anyone who can abandon or mistreat a cat is less than human. I would have made a bigger stink about it than even the OP did -- not out of rational thinking but out of my feelings. Mistreating a cat (not just any animal but cats specifically) is like abusing a kid to me. It evokes the same gut-wrenching sickness and horror.
I've asked people waxing on about their cat hatred in gchat to stop or to take their conversation to whispers. I do this because it makes me angry and I don't think I should have to log to get away from it.
I'm a meat-lover, I'm not morally opposed to hunting, but there's a difference between killing animals cleanly for food or sport and causing them pain.
Living creatures deserve a minimum of care, even if it's "wasting gas" to take them to a shelter (which is just plain practical because then they won't populate the neighborhood with more homeless cats).
