Warcraft III's Orc appears on fireworks {WoW}

Jul 4th 2008 2:22PM "Posting a few support phone numbers doesn't constitute copyright infringement anyway"

That would be fine if all you guys did was post a few numbers. But you didn't do that. You copy-pasted most of a paragraph from another website. At least the fireworks people photoshopped their work. You guys didn't even change the wording, which is exactly what brought it to my attention.

Don't get mad at me, I'm just pointing out the irony of a post on copyright infringement having pilfered text at the bottom of it.

Arrow me down all you like, Mr. Schramm, that's what it's there for. I still find it funny...

Jul 4th 2008 1:36PM Stereotypes are fun! Do some more. Do some more!

Ironic, considering the name of your server as well.

"C'mon guys, let's roll on the server named after a Rogue faction!"

Warcraft III's Orc appears on fireworks {WoW}

Jul 4th 2008 1:19PM Although copyright infringement might be a no-no, I wonder how many people here are smuggling fireworks into their home state illegally?

That would be places like:
IL, IA, ME, OH, VT, DE, MA, NJ, NY, RI, and good 'ole AZ

Of course, even better, I like how wowinsider thought it was cool to just copy the support paragraph from blizzard's site and paste it at the bottom of their page:

Apparently, blowing "copyright law completely out of the water" is fun for everyone!

I love the taste of hypocrites in the morning...Mmmm...salty...

Blood Sport: Do and don't, pro-style {WoW}

Jun 30th 2008 4:58PM "Help for this class is on the way in both patch 2.4.3 and Wrath."
How so? All I see is:

Shaman
* Earth Elemental: This pet will now leash back to its totem when pulled beyond 50 yards away.
You can't use elementals in Arena, so it's not this...

* Lightning Overload: This talent will no longer do excessive damage when used with Lightning Bolt Ranks 2-10.
This DOES apply to Elemental Shaman, but I wouldn't really call that "Help for this class".

Am I missing something, or was that an error? Wrath might be full of win for Shamans, (Ribbit!) but 2.4.3 has nothing that I'd consider an improvement for the class.

The state of WoW on Linux {WoW}

Jun 30th 2008 1:56PM For me, performance has been pretty horrible:
Intel Core2 Quad
8GB RAM
Nvidia 8800GT
Distros tested:
OpenSuse 10.3, Ubuntu 7.10, PCLinuxOS, Mandrivia, Debian, RedHat 8, Sabayon

-Framerates are consistently 10-50 fps lower than their windows counterparts.

-When you exit the game, you have to sit there for ~90 seconds waiting for access to your desktop again.

-Rotating the camera around your character causes the framerate to plummet to near single digit levels.

-Sound delays are atrocious (hit a mob, and hear the sound of the impact almost a full second later)

-Mouse cursor is inaccurate (doesn't always click exactly where the tip of the arrow is.

And that doesn't even cover trying to get other various issues with wine cleared up or the 32bit vs 64 bit cpu problems or some of the texturing bugs in the Nvidia video drivers.

That might be good for some people, but why should I settle for that when I can just boot into XP and get flawless performance and a consistent HIGH framerate (60+ fps)?

Maybe it's a tweaking issue, but I haven't been able to find any acceptable solutions to these problems so I've pretty much given up on WoW under Wine for right now.

Jun 26th 2008 1:27PM Here’s one you can win money on in a bar if you’re within reach of the right reference book: Chomping at the bit and old stomping ground are incorrect. Some Saturday afternoon when you’re getting bombed on your old stamping ground, you’ll be champing at the bit to use this one.

Sorry to sound so picky, folks, but I listen to a lot of radio and TV and these things have bothered me for a long time.

Insider Trader: Fair wages {WoW}

Jun 13th 2008 6:30PM In the real world, I'm a very generous tipper. Usually though, that's because the person providing the service (waitstaff) are not the same people who get the money from the bill. In WoW, the service is being provided by the same person who gets 100% of the money from "the bill". Therefore, I feel it's unnecessary to tip unless given a REALLY good reason (you traveling to where I'm at, giving me something else for free, etc).

If the crafter wanted an extra 10G for their service, then they should have included it in the agreed upon price of the enchant or whatever. It's already a "fair" trade because they aren't forced to provide the service to anyone at all.

Sidenote:
"Requiring" people to tip smacks of the same psychological-mindgame BS that stores use today when they price everything at 99 cent intervals (Only 9.99! That's less than $10! Wha-ta Bah-gin!)

Basically, you tip to help out the "little guy". To show your gratitude. There is no "little guy" in WoW, so tipping isn't really necessary.

Jun 11th 2008 12:08PM If you just want to "clean" poison, etc from your pet, don't forget the value of down ranking Mend Pet. Mend Pet (Rank 1) is still able to clear curses, etc from your pet, but costs much less than your current level of Mend Pet.

15 Minutes of Fame: Tamzin on being a girl gamer, movies, music {WoW}

Jun 5th 2008 5:15PM LOL. I"m so goofy. Instead of writing ALL THAT, I could have made my point by just referencing the title of the posting:

15 Minutes of Fame: Tamzin on being a girl gamer, movies, music

"girl gamer" is the first thing mentioned after the verb. I guess that Cartographer "corpse-run arrow thingy" is right: I really AM a silly sausage...

"Out of 4,282 words we've devoted to profiling Tamzin, only 239 of them had anything to do with gender."
Ha! I'm so silly...
