Aug 11th 2009 3:38PM Ah, rereading the OP and I noted you tried nameplates. I think focus assist macro would probably be the best way to ensure that you're going to target something and be able to cast damaging spells.
Aug 11th 2009 3:33PM In this case, you can make use of a focus target macro and a targetlasttarget macro. I normally make the main tank my focus. Should you need to banish, you can target the banishable mob, banish, use the macro to target your focus target (also called a focus assist macro), and should you need to target the banished mob again, use the targetlasttarget macro.
Xperl and other unit frame mods also can be configured to show your group/raid's targets, giving you another icon to click on instead of tab spamming or hunting through the cloud of melee for the mob.
One final suggestion, if you're not into macros/mods is to show enemy name plates, the big ones with health bars. Only show the enemy ones and you have several large icons to click on.
