Gold Capped: Tracking the most frequently bought and sold items {WoW}

Jan 16th 2012 8:30PM I think a significant cause of inflation in this current expansion is the "Cash Flow" guild perk. Basically it caused a 5-10% increase in the money supply, and that was after the currency had already been devalued quite a bit in the previous expansions.

I remain convinced that Blizzard does this intentionally in order to make professional farming less lucrative.

(By the way, one good way to measure inflation is to note the value of a gold piece against the U.S dollar over time. Just because currency trading happens on the black market doesn't make it any less valuable as a tracking tool. And from what I've seen in advertisements, one dollar buys far more WoW gold than it used to.)

20 observations from a leveling tank {WoW}

Jan 3rd 2012 5:29PM Awesome and timely post. After 6 years of playing ranged DPS and healers, I decided to try my hand at tanking. I rolled a Prot Warrior who is now level 37. I'm doing it without any heirloom gear (the reason I roll alts is because it's fun to get upgrades).

I ran Maraudon last night, with an over-eager Mage who would start pulling on his own if I wasn't fast enough. Rather than complaining though, I decided to just go with the flow, since the healer seemed geared enough to handle it. You're right that you need to quickly get a feel for the mood of your group. If they're all laid back and don't care about being sloppy, just run with it. :)

Shifting Perspectives: Retaining key talents in Pandaria {WoW}

Nov 18th 2011 5:15PM While we're speculating, I wouldn't be surprised to get a glyph that makes Wrath castable while moving. Blizzard dipped their foot into that pool by giving Mages Scorch on the move, and later made a glyph to do the same for Lightning Bolt. I think they were extremely cautious in going down that road, but that it's been working for 2 specs, I'd expect to see more of the same in MoP.

Shifting Perspectives: Upcoming talent changes for balance {WoW}

Oct 28th 2011 6:29PM With regard to Force of Nature, I'm guessing that for Balance Druids it's going to give us one or more burning Treants. In other words, a near copy of the T12 2-piece bonus.

Shifting Perspectives: How to raid as a balance druid {WoW}

Jul 15th 2011 8:41PM I *look* for opportunitues to use Tranquility in 5-mans. The graphic is just so damn cool, that alone makes it a fun spell to use.

As for raid healing, I distinctly remember healing 10-man Archavon with one other healer - in my Balance spec. (And yes, this was early in the LK expansion when Archavon was still relevant content). I'm pretty sure something like that is no longer possible though.

Oh, and I *love* the new Solar Beam graphic.

Shifting Perspectives: Why there are moonkin in the world {WoW}

Jun 3rd 2011 11:10PM A Mage gave me Focus Magic in BH-25 last night, and it made me wonder... are we still the best target for Focus Magic? Wouldn't an Elemental Shaman be a better choice? Or are the spec differences so small that it comes down to who has the better gear?

WoW Archivist: World of Warcraft patch 1.2 {WoW}

May 17th 2011 6:21PM I really liked Maraudon back in vanilla. I thought some of the graphics were among the most beautiful in the game. Trouble was that it was an absolute pain to get there as an Alliance character, and a full run could take upwards of 3 hours.

Drama Mamas: Raiding deaf {WoW}

Apr 8th 2011 1:29PM My guild has been raiding since vanilla, and we've NEVER used Vent (or any other voice chat). We completed all of the content in LK, except for a few bosses in Ulduar (ToC came out before we finished it). Vent is certainly a useful tool, but it's not a necessity.

Secrets of the Tuskarr: The Cheena Vala {WoW}

May 11th 2009 1:44PM I can't help but think of Wilford Brimley every time I interact with the Tuskarr.
