Snakes + Cake = Snakes on a Cake {Slashfood}

Aug 12th 2006 8:36PM I've been complaining about this movie all week - being utterly terrified of all things snake related and constantly exposed to the commercials for it. However, this cake brought a smile to my face and will probably be the first thing to come to mind next time I see another silly commercial. (For which I'm most grateful!)

Healing in PvP {WoW}

Jul 31st 2006 3:50PM You get HKs if you are grouped and in proximity to the kill (not entirely sure what the proximity is). If you aren't grouped, you will only get HKs/honor for doing damage. This is one of the big changes in patch 1.12 - you will automatically be grouped upon entering a battleground.

PvP in the Burning Crusade? {WoW}

Jul 28th 2006 10:15PM Needing the expansion came out in a blue post on the forums this week, and while I can't find the first post it was mentioned in, Eyonix confirms/clarifies here:

Beta Forums Stress Test {WoW}

Jul 27th 2006 11:43PM Eep. Now you know my dark secret...

On the topic of farmers... {WoW}

Jul 26th 2006 5:15PM Hmm... I'm not sure about overvaluing these robes. All of the craftable class robes are probably the nicest things you're going to find outside Blackwing Lair/Ahn'Qiraj/Naxxramas (depending, of course, on the specific stats you're looking for - these are very good spell damage robes, though their stats are limited), and a lot of players find them worth dropping a profession for.

The mage robes have quite similar stats to the warlock robes, and the pattern for the robe of the void sells for in the 100-120g range on my server. I could explain the price disparity by the numbers of each seen on the auction house, but that just goes back to the initial question - why are there so many robe of the archmage patterns up for sale recently?

Extended Weekly Maintenance for US Realms {WoW}

Jul 25th 2006 6:44AM I've read CM's commenting along the lines of "there's a bad time for everyone" - and thus Blizzard has simply picked a time and stuck with it.

However, it really would make sense for the specifically Oceanic flagged servers to have maintenance times that were outside of prime time there, such as it were.

Sneak Peek at the WoW Trading Card Game {WoW}

Jul 24th 2006 8:04PM Err... good point, thanks. :)

Breakfast Topic: Fixing Faction Imbalance {WoW}

Jul 24th 2006 11:40AM Chad - long before this recent announcement, Blizzard had posted (preliminary) lists of classes available for each new race. Draenai were to be paladins, though Blood Elves could not be shamans. I imagine WoWwiki is simply reflecting the original class announcement info, which is no longer the case. (Though this is mere speculation on my part.)

Breakfast Topic: To Addon or Not to Addon? {WoW}

Jul 21st 2006 12:35PM To stapleboy - I agree about the Blizzard UI's "target of target" feature. I used to use CTMod to see my target's target, but Blizzard's addition has a much cleaner look than the CTMod version.

And as to CTRaid, there are some componants that are quite useful and informative - especially to a healer. The's a monitor that can show you who is targeting who for a rez - which I always found nice, since not everyone has macros to say who they're targeting. Then there's the emergency monitor, who will show you all players who fall below a certain level of health. So for raid healing, you can keep an one eye on your own party and the other on the emergency monitor.
