Ghostcrawler: "We still are not convinced that Warrior tanks are operating at some huge deficit" {WoW}

Feb 17th 2009 8:29PM I gave up my warrior tank towards the end of BC for my pally tank. It has made my raids/heroics so much more tolerable, because as a pally:

-I never lose threat in AoE or single target situations (unless the dps crits it as I pull)
-I can cleanse myself of magic/disease/poison (and others) if my healer can't or is otherwise busy healing
-I have very versatile buffs
-I heal myself to full instantly every 20 minutes, in addition to possessing divine shield/protection
-Wipe recovery (divine intervention) & Resurrection
-Hand of freedom/protection/salvation/sacrifice

I'm actually working on making a death knight tank now for more of a challenge -.- From what I've seen, warriors are not inferior to DK or druids at the moment, but from what I've seen/experienced, pallies are definitely the favorite child :)

The great hunter nerf of 2008 {WoW}

Dec 9th 2008 11:46PM OK, so I understand that hunters are doing some insane dps atm... my hunter in northrend blues and a few old 70 epics is capable of pulling 3k dps on heroic boss fights with a kindred spirits/readiness spec.

Steady shot nerf...ok fine

Volley nerf... yea it really was doing incredible damage, probably fair

Serpents swiftness pet nerf... ok my pet was 40% of my damage, maybe fair, but I hate decreasing pet damage.

Kindred Spirits nerf... once again, I hate pet nerfs because requiring your pet to be alive for a significant portion of your damage is a risk that Bliz doesn't seem to consider in balancing

But really... *READINESS* was it necessary to make readiness NOT affect bestial wrath?!?! What the hell is the point of speccing into it now?! It really only increases your use of RF & Kill Command now to boost dps, definitely not as cool anymore.

I've seen plenty of crappy hunters barely pulling 1k dps with BM spec... I don't think we should be nerfed this *hard*

I plan to re-roll Heavy when Bliz releases them.

Earth Shock replacement to be implemented due to downranking changes {WoW}

Aug 19th 2008 5:18PM As a discipline priest, I have to say I'm disappointed to see the new down-ranking prevention. Already at a disadvantage against skilled rogues, now there is an even higher penalty for using an already crappy spell (holy nova) to flush them out at an already pathetic range (increase the effective range if we're forced to use max rank). Blizzard seriously never could have intended holy nova to be used for healing, because the heal per mana is pathetic. It's a multi-purpose ability at best (it's a talent as well, so we're already investing in it). No PvE priest in his right mind will ever use it, it's only currently useful in PvP for snake traps and un-stealthing.

Also, I cast rank 1 fortitude/inner-fire/renews when a pesky mage starts yanking all of my essential buffs from me, to at least penalize his mana pool somewhat for spamming that godawful ability on a class that relies entirely on magic for protection. The extra 10% dispel protection being given to priests is not enough to cover what we're losing with down-ranking going the way of the buffalo.

A Shadow Priest's take on the new Priest glyphs {WoW}

Aug 9th 2008 10:34AM These awful glyphs are pretty demonstrative of blizzard's opinion of the shadow spec...some unwanted sideshow to their interpretation of the priests' class. You guys seem to forget that blizzard wants to pretty much to minimize the usefulness of shadowpriests. From the original unsolved problem of mind flay range (ask a SP on VR how much you risk death using this spell), to the lack of a permanent aggro dump (lol Fade), to the awful +dmg scaling of mind blast, to the new nerf to vampiric touch, Blizzard wants to relegate shadow to a leveling spec and a niche raid debuff to allow warlocks and mages to shine. I'm fine with how awful shadow priests are at PvP because I see Disc as the "PvP spec", but with the lack of progress incorporating shadow into a solid raid role (hunters and pallies give mana back to their party now), I'm quite dissapointed.

The lack of a buff to mind flay, our bread and butter, and ditching the usefulness of vampiric touch (I don't see the damage scaling to fill the -3% nerf) have all but guaranteed that if I do decide to waste more of my time in WoW when the xpac comes out, I will only be using a shadow spec to level my priest, because the usefulness of shadow is going the way of the buffalo.

Scattered Shots: The dev team takes on PvP {WoW}

Aug 8th 2008 10:30AM As far as the steady-shot not clipping auto-shot anymore, I'm pretty sure you just cast your specials whenever (I think only steady and aimed actually clipped autos prior). You don't need to weave shots anymore, so you can delete that ol' steady shot macro and put steady shot vanilla in it's place. Now just press that button every 1.5s and you're golden (depending on spec) =P
