Mar 9th 2011 8:14PM My "system of choice" is Mumble, but since everyone else in the guild uses Ventrilo, I have no choice.
Oh wait, I'm the GM! I can boss people around!
Mumble here we come!
Feb 10th 2011 9:09PM Agreed. I switched from a custom unit frame mod (Pitbull) to the Blizzard Raid frames, and I have a hard time seeing what "must-have" functionality other raid frame addons give. Sure, if you want dramatic visual changes, get an add-on, but I've found the Blizz standard frames (with most of the extra options turned on) provide every bit of info I need, and the presentation & layout are clean.
Jan 22nd 2011 9:44AM I can't help but channel a part of my character's personality when I play, and Cataclysm has got the most emotional reactions out of me, with the characters and the stories woven.
My new gnome priest was enjoying the Thousand Needles quests up until the point a gnome wanted me to start a war over oil. Though I may slay every critter I see, it just felt so wrong, to my character - especially being given by a fellow gnome.
I'm sure the same quest-line for my smarmy self-serving rogue would be just fine.
Jan 9th 2011 10:42PM Oh, I totally agree. Not healing to 100% is the first thing I learned (thanks SFK!).
Jan 9th 2011 9:49PM There's also a Dwarf in Wetlands who uses "gorram" a bit in her speech. ^_^
Jan 9th 2011 9:07PM This is similar to how I've been healing, but I didn't think of using less HP for more PotL procs.
I've only healed a couple of guild heroics so far (walking in the front door - I've only just got my iLvl up), and I've found if I'm not careful, I do run out of mana very quickly. I mostly use HS, HL during the quiet times, and when things go pear-shaped, I do find I'm mostly just healing the 3 DPS, as PotL & Bacon keep me and the tank topped up.
I've had fights where I've ran out of mana early, and still managed to get through the whole fight. Whaling on a target with melee to get mana back is important, and a pretty big shift from the whole hang back at range & heal practice of old. A balance between meleeing for mana, top-up cheap spells, AoE heals, and the odd spamming FoL, etc, seem to get me by.
LoD after an AoE damage hit is great, and Holy Radiance is awesome for bringing a group back from AoE devastation, esp with an Avenging Wrath boost.
Dec 20th 2010 9:53PM I really like the way the quest-lines flow, but one of the problems I do have is the levelling experience is optimised so much for solo gameplay. Now more than ever, it seems easy to solo, and if you group with a buddy or two, then things die way too quickly. I've had groups where the poor skinner's DPS is 0, because things are dying faster than they can skin! Got a buddy who's a healer? Well, they won't have much to do, since most of the mobs seem to hit like giant pansys!
I miss the group quests, and elites, too. Sure, it was a pain some time to find a group for the tougher encounters, but 2-3 person group quests could be done with a buddy, and soloed when they're green by many classes (and yellow by a few classes ^_^).
So - 1-85 is a giant solo-fest, with a side of dungeons (which I've missed a few because I've solo-levelled too far to access via the dungeon finder), and then end-game is group-only stuff?
Don't get me wrong - I love both sides, and the revamped zones are fantastic, but it seems like the experience has been pushed to the extremes of Solo and Group play...
Sep 15th 2010 11:32PM So, if you do the same thing with another race, can you do the starting zone with them, and get the racial worgen abilities?
I'd love a Gnome who could transform into a Worgen! Aroooooooo! ^_^
Mar 27th 2010 5:32AM @xabra All you'd need to track head position is a camera on the PC with some smarts. Look at the PS3 and Xbox 360 motion controller stuff - both do a pretty good job at identifying a person's head position.
And watching non-3D is as simple as sending the same 2D image to all 3D screen buffers.
Jul 2nd 2009 12:04AM Yep. Ten HD is no more, and instead we have One HD - Hi Def Sports like Poker. WTF!
