WoW, Casually: It's great to be level 70 and casual {WoW}

Apr 11th 2008 10:03AM Yeah, it's scary to think what things are going to cost in the expansion. I've got my epic mount as well and have become a complete cheapskate...I've saved up another 4k gold and I keep hording more. There are going to be some ridiculous money sinks in the expansion I'd bet, and I'd like to be ready for them.

Raid Rx: Are tier token drops fair? {WoW}

Apr 9th 2008 9:39AM First off, token drops came along LONG before BC. ZG, Naxx, etc all used tokens. Secondly, the first BC token drops were Tier 4. Basically, Blizzard started using tokens after BWL and hasn't stopped since so it is not really all that new of a concept.

I really enjoy reading WoW Insider, and one of the big reasons that I enjoy the site is that it is a cut above the WoW forums - usually intelligent and well thought out posts that stay away from the short sightedness of the forums.

Having said that - please keep theses types of posts away. Random loot is random. In the short run there may be trends but in the long run it evens out. 12 kills is not the long run. That is a very, very, very short run.

I just dislike seeing my favorite WoW site basically post the same things I can see on the main forums - "ZOMG, I've killed XXXXX 8 times and NNNNN hasn't dropped for me/my guild/my party yet! How unfair!"

Random loot is random.

Breakfast Topic: Fun surprises {WoW}

Mar 29th 2008 9:15AM Crimson Whelpling was cool - I wasn't even really trying for it at the time. I was running through the area (don't remember why) and saw a whelpling flying. I randomly killed it and looted the whelpling. Couldn't believe it.

Anytime I get a world drop alchemy recipe is pretty cool... I just picked a new one up last night so that was pretty sweet. Especially since they go for about 600g on the AH, it's nice to get them for free.

Whirligig: the generation, jury rigging, and joys of the gyrocopter {WoW}

Feb 22nd 2008 9:29AM Hilarious! You sir, are the best writer on this blog. I'm not an engineer but absolutely love reading your posts - they are 100% full of win.

Breakfast Topic: Consumables: Buy, gather, or make? {WoW}

Feb 19th 2008 8:33AM I'm an herb/alch. I refuse to drop it because I have so many old world flask recipes, as well as 4 of the new discovery only recipes and the super rejuv potion discovery. I can't bring myself to drop the profession and lose all that.

I make a lot of stuff and sell it on the AH. The prices may be what a lot of people call price gouging, but I'm only making 50 silver or so on a stack of 5 elixirs. My auction just doesn't support mark up on the stuff. The materials requirement for Major Agility is a perfect example - 1 Terocone, 2 Felweed and 1 Imbued Vial.

2 Stacks of Felweed - 16g
Stack of Vials - 6.40g
Stack Terocone - 19g

It costs about 42g in mats to make the pots. Now, yes, I could gather those mats and sell the pots cheaper, but why would I? If I'm going to try and maximize my profit I'm going to sell the herbs themselves.

The only reason I put pots/elixirs on the AH is because I make a ton to get discoveries...

So I do apologize to everyone for high potion/elixir prices, but it's the prices of the herb farmers that really set the elixir/potion prices. I'm not selling my stuff for cheaper than the materials.

Breakfast Topic: Can gear be too ugly? {WoW}

Feb 18th 2008 10:18AM The mage Tier 4 helm is ugly as sin. The graphics are definitely off... it's not even a helm, it's a neck brace.

Forum post of the day: BOE Vortexes {WoW}

Feb 17th 2008 4:52PM The post on the forums is deserving of the Drama Queen tag. The "slap in the face" line is the biggest clue :)

Are daily quests leaving casuals behind? {WoW}

Feb 12th 2008 3:25PM I should mention that the tone of my message sounded a little dour, and it shouldn't. The dailies served their purpose - I was able to easily get the gold for my epic mount, a ton of really pricey enchanting mats (Sunfire, +15dmg to bracers), a pile of gems and enough herbs to grind up the discoveries I wanted...and I still have 2500 left over. So I really don't need the dailies anymore.

As far as leaving casuals behind goes though (and I am casual...I only play a couple days a week lately for an hour or two a go) I don't think so. There is more stuff than ever for casual people to do.

Are daily quests leaving casuals behind? {WoW}

Feb 12th 2008 3:16PM I've given up on dailies to be honest =/

I started doing Skettis dailies to earn gold for my mount. Somewhere in there I opened up Ogri'La. Started doing those for gold. By the time I got the gold for my mount, I was exalted with Skyguard and hit exalted w/ Ogri'La near after. I spent about a week doing Netherwing dailies to get that mount. I did dailies for a few weeks after, getting back up to about 2500 gold and now I just can't bring myself to do them. I have every enchant, every gem, every mount...what the heck do I need the money for? Dailies really were seeming like work. I might do the new ones, but I need to learn more about those necklaces to see if they are even worth doing. I never even bought anything from Ogri'La, the gear just wasn't that great for a caster in comparison to heroic rewards.

Get Grumpy, Faster and cheaper than Figure Prints! {WoW}

Jan 31st 2008 12:35PM I know, that thing is terrible! I actually kinda like the T4 shoulders, with the little ethereal smoke and all that coming off of them, but man...that helm..WTF were they thinking?! I think it might look okay if you had the T4 robes, but I don't really know anyone going after Magtheridon anymore. I just turn my helm off =/
