WoW comic #22 preview {WoW}

Aug 19th 2009 6:43PM Not newstands, but your local comics specialty retailer.

Armory temporarily disabled to cut server load {WoW}

May 16th 2009 5:00PM They really need to take advantage of the cheap cloud computing options out there. They could have added 50 servers for the 2 hours they needed them for $0.10/hour /shrug

WTB Armory online -- I've got things to track in Hearthstone.

WoWHorn tweets your achievements {WoW}

May 8th 2009 8:45AM Check out this post over on Project Lore

http://projectlore.com/blog/integrating-wow-into-your-social-graph/

where they describe connecting your Hearthstone App's minifeed into twitter stream using a few common web2.0 style sites.

Much easier than running your own client script.

Fixing FPS issues with patch 3.1 {WoW}

Apr 19th 2009 9:56AM If you're running less than 20% free diskspace when you patch, you should also defragment your harddrive. The patch files are large, and it gets re-written many times in teh course of the update so it can get spread all over your disk causing high seek times too.

If you're on a mac, you need to do some tricky stuff to get it done. Open up a Terminal window (in your Applications => Utilities) and then do the following script (caveat emptor)

cd "/Applications/World of Warcraft/data"
dd if=patch.MPQ of=copy.dat bs=32768k
mv copy.dat patch.MPQ

If you've never done this since upgrading to Wrath, then also do it for the lichking.MPQ too.

Fixing FPS issues with patch 3.1 {WoW}

Apr 19th 2009 9:52AM We had the same problem with the fire wall's in OS10 yesterday. It was the whole raid, so I don't think it's a video card setting though?

Phat Loot Phriday: Jaina's Signet Ring {WoW}

Apr 3rd 2009 10:49PM Exactly. A lot of people forget that gear used to be phased in as you leveled. If I remember right, this was the first ring reward I ever got. Like the Argent Dawn Trinket was the first trinket ever received.

JewelCrafters and PvP twink trinkets etc didn't always exist.

At the time, you took any and every ring you could get even if it was 'meant' for your class.

Using city gift collections for extra Love is in the Air supplies {WoW}

Feb 15th 2009 1:26PM It should be said that you get 5x of each of the reward you choose, not a single. So you can get those achievements done in two turn-ins if you're getting unlucky with those parts.

I spent the time to go get two stacks of arrows since I hadn't seen any of those drop, and of course the next two hours after that I get the arrows all over again :-(

Also, only the arrows are soulbound so if you're an entrepenur, you could do these for the rockets and rose petals if you have the gumption to try and hawk them on trade you might make a bundle.

Updates to Love is in the Air {WoW}

Feb 12th 2009 8:13PM For those concerned about the candy -- I haven't tried it myself yet (cause I trashed the 8 of the 10 I had before it occurred to me) but they aren't bound. Can you trade them with others to get the ones you don't have?

Updates to Love is in the Air {WoW}

Feb 12th 2009 8:12PM "WoWWiki's pages are updated by the community, but they're still pretty darn good."

Ah... you probably could have worded that better. You sound as if you're saying any thing not done by the chosen elite is inherently poor? It's the opinion of many these days that the crowd is much better off than the expert.
