Feb 10th 2009 5:51PM I was never a fan of the apps that forced you to add them before doing anything. I've always made my apps (since they've allowed it anyway) viewable by those who are curious so you aren't forced into that vicious cycle of add and hand me all your info.
If you follow the link to me, you can go straight into the app for example in 'Public' mode.
For those unwary of showing off everything, there are settings -- for example you can tell it not to publish to your wall at all, and in app you can modify per-toon privacy settings (see http://apps.facebook.com/hearthstone/news/13/item) to further restrict (though it's not fully guaranteed ;>).
It's not for everyone, there is definitely those who strictly want to keep their WoW time separate and anonymous (I mean how many of your guildies full names do you even know?), but there are those who play with a close circle who do want everyone knowing when they sneeze, and there are yet others who just want the world to know how great they are too!
Some users (though I'll mention it is against facebooks policy) create a separate facebook account just for their hearthstone -- that way you get all the history features (a log of when you leveled, and what gear you've worn for example) layered on top of the armory dataset without ever having it mixed with your day to day social network. That can also then be used for bloggers to embed their toon on their blogs with a nice wowhead style tooltip.
Feb 10th 2009 5:27PM Hi Dersunde,
Check out the link from the first paragraph -> http://www.facebook.com/apps/application.php?id=5245357721
it's the 'About Page' which gives a few details -- though it was on my todo list today to re-write it as it's a tad out of date.
Also, see the screenshot section on that page to get a few ideas of what it's all about.

Feb 10th 2009 6:39AM I used the Launcher to patch for the first time (I usually just go straight through the game) and during the whole patching processes there was a blank 'Patch Notes' window, and then when it completed it just went back to the normal screen full of ads.
Any way to see the patch notes, or where not any?
Feb 6th 2009 8:50PM Just to correct the comment about having to quest for your Pally mounts. Nope, trainable at 61 if you have the skill. No need to do the quest any more. I assume the same for the warlock steed.
Feb 4th 2009 9:05AM First boss drop was Lawbringer Spaulders in MC.
First pvp purchased was Don Julio's Band (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=19325)
First world drop was Bow of Searing Arrows (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=2825) which ended up getting lost in the mail when I sent it to my backer to sell and well... never got around to selling it! Doh!
Jan 29th 2009 1:10PM Note: this page isn't tagged 'Shifting Perspectives' -- I tried to find it via the tag from the balance gear guide and it didn't come up. Went in via the author to find it instead.
It is 'categorized' though, but I didn't see that as separate until after.
Jan 19th 2009 9:50PM Hi Kelly,
I'm sorry to hear you have been having troubles.
If you want to contact me via the app's discussion boards, or directly on Facebook I'll see if we can resolve what ever it is.

Jan 19th 2009 9:49PM It happens very rarely. More often than not, the person added the US or the EU realm instead of their own, and they had a common enough name that it matched.
If it ever really becomes a problem, screenshot or it didn't happen -- send over a cap of your character selection screen.
Jan 19th 2009 7:44PM There was a period of about 15 minutes there when things were not responding quickly enough. I've got it all resolved now -- except for the armory delays which are no longer getting well trapped -- the EU armory in particular has been really slow today and if it times out during the add, it'll fail and you'll have to try again.
I'll respond more when I'm sure things are operating smoothing.

Jan 17th 2009 12:08PM Wow -- Thanks for all the great comments about Hearthstone!
My wife and I are the authors and really appreciate the Kudos!
I do feel Nick and mine's apps fit different spaces so take a look at both and see what works for you. It's interesting to hear the different parts that appreciated -- the equipment histories (more to come on these soon!) to the achievement publishing -- even the leveling messages (which I had been thinking of removing so I'm going to leave in now!).
Mr. Schramm, let me know if you'd be interested in an interview or what have you (but yeah I'd want to upgrade my server first :-P).
BTW -- you can find the app @
