Apr 2nd 2012 10:46PM I absolutely would give the same advice if the genders were reversed. Why wouldn't I? In fact, isn't it more usual to have the wife be at home (stay at home mom for example) and the husband be the 'breadwinner"? I would have said the same for same sex relationships as well.
If Partner A is working all day and Partner B is playing a lot of the day, then Partner B should make some time for Partner A in the evening. It doesn't matter if B is disabled, independently wealthy, doing all the chores, running errands, volunteering at the Y, etc. If B is able to play WoW for many hours of the day and A would like a little A+B time in the evening, they need to work it out so it happens.
I also don't care about the other side of the story. The "widow/widower" thing happens all the time and not just in games. Partner B watches sports every time it is on and Partner A feels neglected. Partner B goes to clubs several nights a week and Partner A feels neglected. So even if Shannon is flat out lying about her situation, it doesn't at all matter. There are many people in her position (regardless of gender) that can use the advice we gave.
Apr 2nd 2012 2:14PM In the bum's defense, he could be disabled or have some other reasonable excuse for not working. We just don't know. Also, she does not accuse him of not cleaning house or getting chores and errands done. She says he has "many hours" during the day that he can play, not that he plays all day.
With all that said, even if he is a model house husband otherwise or is disabled, he STILL has plenty of time in the evenings to spend with his hardworking wife.

Mar 30th 2012 4:47PM Ew moving! May it be completely boring and uneventful and go speedier than you expect. (Unlike every move I've attempted.)
Mar 30th 2012 4:45PM This also applies to superpynks below.
When the guild was first formed, the powers that be (which did not include me) flipped a coin and it came up Horde. We only have two factions to choose from after all.
I am sorry that there are factionists that can't participate in a fun little event every once in a while, but to each his own.
Mar 21st 2012 12:06PM I really wanted to say something about this, but ended up just summarizing with "enjoy your solitude". I am so glad you both wrote this.
The Other Woman needs to love herself or else she will continue to make these kinds of mistakes. If she treats herself the way she wants to be treated, she will soon learn that she should settle for nothing less. Take herself out for dinners, pamper her body, make herself feel beautiful in her own eyes, etc. And yes, I think salsa classes or something similar is a fabulous idea.
So again, thank you for stressing something I wish I had elaborated upon.

I definitely should have used that for the embedded video.
Feb 16th 2012 4:44PM You know, I wrote this thinking that someone was going to make the obvious joke and I tried to come up with a better way to put it and failed. So then I rationalized that this joke was so very obvious that no one would actually make it, particularly since it is obvious what I'm talking about.
This rationalization shows that no matter how long I have been on the internet/bbs/chatrooms, I still have more to learn. The fact that this joke was voted up just underlines and puts exclamation points on that.
