Feb 27th 2008 8:32PM @Everyone.. Seriously, there is no need to try to compare Windows to OSX to Linux. People saying how Apple got it right and OSX is so much better than windows. Well of course it will perform better because Apple also owns the hardware designs so they KNOW what will be in that machine! Amazing how tuned you can make an OS when you have very limited hardware to deal with. BTW, even to upgrade to OSX (Leopard) you must meet certain hardware requirements for upgrading, as well as be prepared to have slower performance than a brand new iMac. Its common sense. Microsoft and Windows on the other hand has to take into account hundreds of thousands of different possible hardware configurations when designing their OS. My computer flys with Vista, but I build it knowing what worked well with Vista. If you have an old machine and are running XP fine, then leave it alone. Don't upgrade and then bitch about it being slower. Many of the issues are with the hardware manufacturers not working on new drivers for Vista as well, not the OS itself. If you're not willing to upgrade your hardware from time to time, dont upgrade your software. Also, on that BMW rant earlier, that has nothing to do with PC's and would be more of an Apple comparison. Now, grab a custom built car, slap the BMW logo on the hood, and take it in. Not their hardware, they wouldnt know what to do with it, and may tell u to upgrade your shit or suffer slower performance. The rest of u saying Vista runs slower than XP, well, did u bother to go in and turn off all the extra services and such on Vista that XP doesnt have before making that determination? I didnt think so. Feed and older car premium fuel and u dont see much change if any at all, but put that same fuel in a high end sports car, and now its worth it. Don't expect more from your hardware just because of a software upgrade of that scale. Finally, those on that apple bandwagon, their stuff is great, but they cannot do what MS does. Go grab a $4000 game machine and load up that faster OSX Leapord.. what? It won't run? Hmm.. Vista will..
Dec 18th 2007 8:31AM I've never felt as heroic as I did the first time I stepped into Stormwind City! ALLIANCE ftw!

Nov 19th 2007 11:40PM Second: PSNetwork vs Live / DVD9 vs. Blu-ray
"Playstation network is better since I dont have to pay anything to use it" , "Blu-Ray is necessary for future games unless we want to swap multiple dvds like in the days of CD"
There is one main reason XBOX Live is paid service.. It is a costly, maintained, regulated, reliable, supported service. Yes, Playstation Network is free, and there is a reason for that too. There is nothing they can charge for at this point. Compare the two like you would over-the-air television and paid cable or satellite TV. They both provide some of the same stations, but cable is more reliable, provides more channels, comes in clear, easy to use. Over-the-air may have static, require adjustment of the antennas, very limited in choices, but, yes, it is free. There are of course ways for Sony to make the service better, but based on Sony's hype machine, wait until it comes out to judge the change it will really make. Also, keep in mind much of Sony tech and ideas are "borrowed" from other companies (2.0 menu and Sprint's recent marketing campaign anyone?) and that which they do try to push on their own is often over rated and not quite what they promise. For those worried about DVD9 not having the capacity and think Blu-ray capacity is needed... Crysis, the most visually stunning power hungry game created to date, is 5.46GB on DVD.
Nov 13th 2007 9:24AM I pretty much have to agree with #20 about the PS3. I work for a theater design store and we sell PS3's as the lowest cost Blu-Ray player with additional features. Gaming rarely comes up in those conversations. At home we have four xbox 360's connected to different media systems in the house, two Wii's, and one PS3. We play the crap out of the 360 on all kinds of games across the board. The PS3, is a blu-ray player for the theater room. We have games for it that have not seen more than 10 min play time total. By dropping the price of the PS3 and removing BC they further show commitment to the MOVIE industry, not gaming. They may be selling, even close to the sales of the 360 as they were, but you have to look at what's being sold. The 360 is being sold on those margins as a GAMING machine, many people buying the PS3 are doing so for movies, or are past sony fanboys(girls). There are far more dvd players in homes than game machines, so if look at those numbers keeping in mind xbox is gaming, sony is really mostly a blu-ray movie push, then as a gaming maching the PS3 is skydiving without a parachute. Unless Sony finds a way to open a reserve and bring their company full circle on the idea of a game machine it's not going to go well for them in the long run. BTW, in closing, anyone else like the direct ripoff in the PS3 2.00 update of the Sprint marketing campaign. Sony needs to find something of their own for once...
Oct 8th 2007 10:14AM This shouldn't come to a suprise to those outside of the gaming industry. Sony has been moving their system towards a media device for a while now, away from gaming. They are failing in the gaming realm but the PS3 has been driving support and blu-ray sales since day one. Adding to that DVR abilities at some point in the near future, it's a system for media, that plays games on the side. Sad thing is, it really should be remarketed that way to save face in the eyes of the gaming community.
Sep 28th 2007 12:44AM #6, Not a fanboy post here, but there were more copies of halo 3 sold in 24 hours than there are playstation 3 consoles sold in the US. So unless 100% of the Blu-Ray watching people (cause that's about all u can do at this point with it) buy it, your MGS4 dream will never see the light of day.
May 12th 2007 1:32AM Easy fix. Full account, not a problem. They spam, they get banned. If needed add the outgoing limit for the first 5-10 lvls. Trial accounts are the big issue. They create one, use it, and delete it. Trial accounts should never be allowed to whisper out unless whispered first. Disable the /say and /yell commands on Trial accts. They want to talk, let 'em buy the game.
