BlizzCon 2011 virtual tickets potentially giving out last year's pet {WoW}

Aug 4th 2011 4:50PM Really? Was this for signing up for this year's Blizzcon DirectTV package?

BlizzCon 2011 virtual tickets potentially giving out last year's pet {WoW}

Aug 3rd 2011 5:21PM If you remember, it probably took something in the order of 3-4 WEEKS for our Deathy redemption cards to show up in the mail last year, AFTER Blizzcon.

Here's my suspision: Whoever is in charge of setting up the DirectTV virtual package never updated it for this year, so people who signed up for this year's were probably automatically flagged in the system as "still" needing to have their pets mailed to them.

All they need to do is change their settings so nobody gets mailed last year's pet. At this point, they will also need to make sure that people who received last year's pet will still be reset so they receive the 2011 version.

The Classifieds: Truly epic, real-life jewelcrafter creates Horde pendant {WoW}

Jun 2nd 2011 3:32PM I don't think I see anything showing unity in the piece... but if that were the goal, shouldn't the gemstone have been a purple amethyst?

The Classifieds: Truly epic, real-life jewelcrafter creates Horde pendant {WoW}

Jun 2nd 2011 3:25PM The pendant is too "top-heavy" in the way it was designed, but the jeweler could've used a smaller gemstone and set it a little "lower" on the Horde logo. There's actually a couple of different Horde insignias out there, including ones that are thinner and longer. This one looks very squarish, and I can see how it might have been difficult to hang, with all the weight near the top. In my opinion it's the original design that's flawed.

BTW for the person who said the two points shouldn't be balanced, I've seen the insignia that way, too. Take a look at the big Horde decal that J!nx sells at their website. And that's an authorized version.

The Classifieds: Truly epic, real-life jewelcrafter creates Horde pendant {WoW}

Jun 2nd 2011 3:19PM @Persephanie -- Those were my thoughts exactly! I mean, if you wanted a star-shaped pendant but the crafter turned it upside down, some people would say that was a pentagram. Can you imagine what people would think if a person wore a Christian cross... upside down? Eek! If the insignia doesn't balance right, then do something besides hang it upside down. It's like an effigy. Sheesh.

But most of all, that using blue was completely wrong. As a died-in-the-wool Horde player, I'd be pretty embarrassed to wear that. It's like getting a tattoo that said "FOR THE HOARD!" or something.

$10,000? That hurts. I agree with others who have joked that the jeweler is actually an Alliance player.

Spiritual Guidance: A first look at patch 4.1 for priests {WoW}

Feb 28th 2011 7:43PM Gawd. Engineers, PLEASE change the tier bonuses so we don't have mastery, then. You keep sucking the life out of our shields, the least you can do is give us tier bonuses that are helpful. Thank you.

Insider Trader: The trick to farmable Maelstrom Crystals {WoW}

Jan 20th 2011 3:44PM Basil -- I really think the article needs an update notice stating that the alchemy trinkets are no longer disenchantable. Unless someone scrolls down to read all the comments, you're setting people up for a lot of fail.

Officers' Quarters: Speechless {WoW}

Jan 17th 2011 4:37PM @Rob -- Your best solution is to wear a headset with a built-in mic. And use push-to-talk when you need to speak. If you are worried about not being able to hear your wife when she speaks, buy a headset with only one headphone, or just take the phone off of one ear. Be aware, however, that during a raid, you will need to put your gameface on and focus on the encounters... so unlike questing, you can't just stop at any point to have a conversation with your wife.

As for people who wish not to speak into a mic, there are various reasons (speech impediment, home environment too noisy with screaming babies, heavy accent, dead/mute, etc.). For the purposes of raiding, I'd word the requirement the way I'd write up a job description. That is, instead of saying "Candidate must be big and brawny," you say, "Candidate must be able to deadlift 100 pounds and carry the weight 20 feet across a room in less than 10 seconds." If the healer cannot use a mic to explain when she's OOM and needs another healer to help, maybe she can set up a macro that either yells or sends a message to the healer channel that says "I'm OOM, help with my target" or somesuch?

Bottom line, though; it sounds like she is not ready for serious raiding.

Spiritual Guidance: The calculus of shadow priest hit in Cataclysm {WoW}

Dec 29th 2010 7:13PM How is it that an article about gearing for spell hit by shadow priests doesn't even mention the single most important talent to augment this: Twisted Faith?

In raids I heal, and I've been loading up on Spirit. When I switch to my Shadow off-spec, do you know how much +hit I have? Well over 2,000. Because of Twisted Faith, I don't need a DPS set to do dungeons or my dailies.

Drama Mamas: Family or fun? {WoW}

Nov 12th 2010 3:48PM Football analogy time!
#1: The brothers formed a new NFL football team. Invited the groom and bride to join as pop warner players.
#2: When the groom and bride were old enough, they wanted to play football, but they were still playing amateur football when the team (guild) was playing against the Indianapolis Colts.
#3: If the groom and wife want to be members of the brothers' NFL football team, they have to play as well as other recruits. Allowing anyone to be a first-string player when they are not ready for NFL action means the team will lose, and the other players will get angry at the front office for allowing a weak player to be on the team just because he's related to the owners.
#4: Kudos to the groom for figuring out how to be a good football player. But he sounds a little sour that the team didn't help him become his own good player. The thing is, the team isn't *supposed* to teach people how to play. So he shouldn't have sour feelings. That said, he peeled aggro off of the tanks? To me that is NOT a good DPSer. Part of being a good DPSer is knowing how to walk the fine balance between wielding a ton of damage, without pulling aggro. Apparently the groom hasn't learned all his lessons/plays yet.
