Nov 21st 2007 6:21PM The Aspect of the Viper re-buff is very, very welcome. The recent nerf (when was it, 2.2?) was annoying as heck.
Nov 16th 2007 4:01PM @9 Buying pet food is for suckers. Get a pet that can eat fish, level your fishing and cooking up to something reasonable, then spend an hour fishing open water in Outland. You'll have more stacks of Blackened Trout than you can use in a month.
Nov 3rd 2007 4:15PM The sheer tedium of harvesting strange spores for sporeling snacks makes this an attractive alternative.
I really don't get the complaints about the whole pet-snacks idea, though. Pet FOOD is what you feed your pet to keep it happy. Pet SNACKS give a special buff. It seems pretty obvious to me, but maybe I'm weird.
Oct 5th 2007 11:49AM If you play the Horde side and you don't have your bank alt in Thunder Bluff, you're missing out. The mailbox and the auction house are about a six-second walk from each other, and there's a vendor right there who'll buy anything you don't want to auction off.
Plus, given Thunder Bluff's proximity to the Tauren starting area, it's easy as heck to run a level-one toon into town to be your banker.
My main (level 70 now) is a Tauren hunter, and when I was leveling I always portaled back to TB to visit the trainers. I know it's cheesy, but Mulgore and the surroundings always felt like home, because that's where I spent my first few hours in the game.
Aug 23rd 2007 5:45PM A Precisely Calibrated Boomstick dropped for me in the late 40s off of a random harpy in Ferelas. I tried for weeks to sell it on the auction house at a fair price, but ended up letting it go for way under market value.
A couple levels later, I picked up a Dwarven Hand Cannon for a steal on the AH, banked it until 58 and have been using it ever since.
Jun 10th 2007 10:57AM I like the idea of pay-for-gold servers. It sounds like a good outlet. And hey, maybe it'll be a revenue stream for Blizzard.
I also like the emphasis on reputation in the expansion. You can buy gold, but you can't buy rep.
Of course, I'd like it if the reputation grind were mixed up a little. Random world events, maybe, along the lines of the elemental invasions in Azeroth. You happen to be in a capital city when a yell goes out than an invasion force is on the way. Everybody in town gets five minutes to form up into groups, then a few waves of mobs start coming. You get a little rep just for surviving the battle, and you get more for taking down foes. If you're in a party with lower-level players, you get even more rep, giving the end-gamers an incentive to team up with the littles.
It could be fun. It might also be an unbelievable investment in developer time that could never pay off. I really don't know.
Jun 9th 2007 2:57PM The welcome-back party and barbecue in Shattrath just broke up, after a climactic 'round-the-city conga line and snowball fight. A good time was had by all, and we hope the innocent and faintly bewildered citizens of Shat will forgive us for the lag spikes we caused with all our AOE fireworks.
Thanks to everyone who attended.
Jun 6th 2007 10:19AM Unfortunately, the site seems to be completely flummoxed at the moment.
Jun 5th 2007 2:39PM We have a player in our guild who managed to get all the flight points in Azeroth and Outland (thanks to a summon) without doing a single quest or killing a single mob.
The trip through the tunnel into Winterspring took him like three hours.
Last I saw him, he was like level seven or something, on discovery XP alone.
Personally, I'd love the ability to outsource quests. Kill 20 Scarlet Monastery bad guys to level this alt, you say? Let me just round up a posse of other players who are willing to do it for me in exchange for some extra XP.
Hell, let players put tasks up on the auction house with reverse bidding. The player who'll do the job for the lowest XP wins the right to do the quest.
Jun 3rd 2007 9:49PM Don't get me wrong, I don't want to sound like Mr. Complainy Guy. But the never-ending series of "Some Guild Killed Some Guy You've Never Heard Of" posts aren't examples of the very best content on this site, in my opinion.
