Jul 8th 2010 1:38PM Teleportation scrolls that can be traded and bought/sold on the AH.
Even Runescape has this (they inscribe theirs onto tablets) - and yet we... don't.
Actually, there are a number of things Runescape does right, for all that it's a free-to-play game with not-as-good graphics. Wish WoW had Runescape's Grand Exchange, too. Sure beats the pants off of our AH.
Jul 5th 2010 2:42PM FINALLY they get some things right!
All pets have the same damage, allowing us to choose the skin we want to play with? CHECK!
Stables have boocoo slots for pets that we just want to have, for the sake of having them? CHECK!
BM gets revived from the ungodly nerf bat? CHECK!
AND BRK IS BACK!! :)
May 18th 2010 12:36PM For anyone else who was overwhelmed by the number of events listed at the end, here's a roundup of what's presented on the video. If anyone from the server could speak up on how to get more info on what the "random locations" are for the next events or who to get in touch with, it looks like some commenters would find it handy!
White Dove - Monday @ 6 - Stormwind Park Tavern - Solace
Weekly Sermons - Wednesday @ 7 - Random Locations - Conclave
Alliance Clinic - Thursday @ 5 - Random Locations - Pillar of Honor
Roleplay Night - Friday @ 5 - Random Locations - Solace
Weekly Expedition - Saturday @ 3 - Random Locations - A.E.G.
Tavern Night - Monday @ 7 - Ratchet Inn - A.A.M.S.
Da Clinic - Tuesday @ 7 - Valley of Wisdom - Da Doctas
Homeland Welcome Walk - Wednesday @ 6:30 - Random Locations - Homeland
Fishing Night - Thursday 6:30+ - Random Locations - Wardens of Ysera
Black Hand Society - Monthly - Brill - Modas Il Toralar
Storytelling Night - Monthly - @ or near Thunder Bluff - Ishnu Por Ah
Excellent video, btw - and I'm astounded at the amount of cross-faction cooperation it took to put the whole thing together and that it actually got done! On any of the servers I've been on, trying to get the horde and alliance to work together is an impossible task.
Mar 16th 2010 9:22AM Ugh, see so many people advocating Loot Council.
I was subjected to this hell of a loot system once - never again.
Here's how they did it...
Each raid there would be a loot council made up of 3 Officers and 2 Raiders. The Officers did a /roll to see who would be on the council, then the non-officer Raiders would do a /roll to see who ended up on it. This was done, supposedly, to make sure the council rotated and there was never a chance for Raiders to "kiss up" to the Loot Council members and invoke favoritism.
Thing is, it's totally random. So you could have all 3 healers ending up on Loot Council. Now you can't continue to clear trash while loot is being distributed, because all of your healers are in a little huddle arguing about loot. Or both of your tanks. Or all of your DPS... you get the picture.
Just downed a boss? Congrats! Your reward? You get to sit on your thumb for the next fifteen minutes while a bunch of people argue over every single piece of loot that dropped. After that, you get to sit on your thumb for the next 5-10 minutes while the people who didn't get loot argue, whine, complain, or give reasonable justifications as to why the loot should've gone to them - and then discussions within the Loot Council of "well should we make the loot winner trade to this guy who's speaking up?"
Let's say you've got 3 clothies in the raid, and no clothies on the Loot Council. A piece drops. Loot Council decides to award it to Raider A. Thing is, Raider B would get a bigger boost out of the piece because his spec gives him mega-crit from Spirit or somesuch - but no one on the Loot Council has any idea about that because they don't play that class. Drama ensues, more sitting on your thumb is in store for you.
No favoritism? HAH.
Raider A could barely use the piece as an upgrade, but for Raider B it would be a major upgrade. Now, Raider A has been in the guild for 2 years. Raider B has been in for 2 months. Everyone on the Loot Council knows Raider A better and has spent more time with them, while they barely know "the new guy". Don't be shocked if the loot goes to Raider A, even though it would be a better upgrade for Raider B.
I will never, ever, EVER again be part of a guild that uses Loot Council.
The most successful and most common "system" I've seen is deceptively simple:
- Roll Main Spec.
- If no rolls for Main Spec, roll Off Spec.
- If no rolls for Off Spec, it gets DE'd.
- You get one Main Spec piece of loot per run, unless everyone in your role/armor class has gotten something, then it starts over.
- Patterns may only be rolled on by people who have that profession and link it in raid chat showing that they can learn the pattern and don't have it already.
- Crusader Orbs, etc are open rolls and you can't win two in one run.
- BOE: If people claim to want it for an upgrade, then it's treated as a Main Spec roll and they must equip it immediately. If no one wants it as an upgrade, it's open roll.
It's fair, it's easy, it's quick, and no drama.
If someone won an item and turned around and tried to sell it to guildies, that person would be /gkicked instantly. First time I've ever heard of that level of douchebaggery... guess I should consider myself lucky.
I don't see a problem with the guy getting tank gear - after all, he IS tanking the runs. The guild is making him tank the runs already even though he'd rather be DPSing or healing. If you're going to force me to play a role I don't want to play, you'd better let me roll on gear that will allow me to do it better. However, I do have a problem with him winning ALL of the tank gear. Rotate the gear through the tanking team.
Mar 1st 2010 8:30AM I've tried to use Auctioneer's Enchantrix to do the auto-milling or auto-DEing, but can't get the darn thing to load. My Auctioneer is v5.x and Enchantrix keeps telling me Auctioneer must be v4 or higher so that it can load. Argh.
Anyone know how to fix this, make it so the two will talk to each other? They came from the same "Auctioneer Suite" download, they *should* work together automatically.
Feb 23rd 2010 7:58AM @JB
Just go to Moonglade and hang around a few minutes. You'll typically see someone in chat saying "whisper me for Omen" or "LFM for Omen". If not, start saying that yourself... you'll have a cluster of people in a minute or two.
Also, you don't *have* to participate in the fight or "tag" Omen to complete the quest. When he dies, a shaft of light is cast down upon his body. All you have to do is stand in the light to complete the quest. You'll often see Horde and Alliance all banging on Omen together to kill him and then everyone jumps into the light and /cheers and /thanks each other.
I've gone there on my alts ready to form a group up and found Omen's body dead and the light still on him. Hop into the light, done - and didn't even have to fight him.
Feb 5th 2010 5:11PM For the second question - a tool that shows instances by level - yes, there is one!
This chart shows each instance, what the level required to walk through the portal is, and then the recommended level to do the instance. (Recommended level is in parenthesis.)
This page was my bible when hubby and I were leveling up a boatload of toons using the refer-a-friend program.
Feb 3rd 2010 4:17PM I LOVED it! Pure awesome.
Like one of the above commenters, I'd have like to have seen some different video segments but the song itself was great, and the singing was spot-on.
I also loved her ninja raiders cover, and I'm looking forward to more from Emberlsolte!
Feb 1st 2010 9:52PM I won't fight Bolvar.
He should've been king, not that pansy emotard brainless lump Wrynn.
Bolvar acted like a king, while Wrynn just continues to act like some 13-year old on a caffeine high.
Bolvar deserved a king's helm, but not this one... and if Blizz has us fight him, it's one fight I won't take part in.
Jan 8th 2010 2:33AM To all of you who keep saying "I can't get one here, they won't ship to me..."
You've been playing this game for how long now? Do you honestly mean to tell me that in all that time you've never met anyone in-game who has become a good enough friend to let you Paypal/snail-mail them $8 or so and then they'd buy an authenticator and mail the damn thing to you?
It's not that freaking difficult, people. Stop being stubborn, or childish, or just plain lazy and figure out how to get it done.
If I were still the GM of my guild, I'd have a standing offer to do this for any of the guildies.
