WoW Moviewatch: World of Gnomecraft 2.0

You can only push a good gnome so far. For years, the Alliance and Horde punted gnomes, used them as garden decorations, and denigrated this most destructive of races. And then Baron Soosdon issued the call to the pint-sized purveyors of perfection, and we entered the World of Gnomecraft 2.0.

Kick back and enjoy the revolution. This contest-winning video from 2010 will show you why the good Baron is so far ahead of his time.

WoW Moviewatch: Oh Great, Yet Another WoW Harlem Shake Video

The official title of this video is "Oh Great, Yet Another WoW Harlem Shake Video :(" And while I've sworn of the meme forever, this one was created by the legendary Baron Soosdon. How can I possibly pass that up? If ever there were a heroic figure of machinima, it would be Soosdon. So let's kick back for yet another Harlem Shake video. You won't be disappointed.

WoW Moviewatch: Raid Together, Die Alone 4

Raid Together, Die Alone is the good Baron Soosdon's series of hallmark raiding video. With his unmatched eye for machinima design and unutterable sense of humor, Raid Together, Die Alone always feels like a testament to each raiding tier.

Kick back with a cuppa tea, and enjoy the fourth installment in the Baron's series. And just in case you're a Soosdon veteran, don't worry. The most epic raider of all time rolls you at the end, exactly as you'd expect.

WoW Moviewatch: Fear and Loathing in Pandaria: The Dread Wastes

There is one sad bit of news with the nearing release of Mists of Pandaria -- namely, we won't be seeing any fresh Fear on Loathing in Pandaria, like this newest episode focusing on The Dread Wastes. Regardless whether he's near or far, the good Baron's machinima will live on.

The video for the Dread Wastes is obviously a little moodier than previous editions. Whether or not Baron Soosdon has truly captured the feel of the zone is up to you, but this is certainly one hell of a video. Take the time to check it out and enjoy your favorite beverage. I find IPAs pair well with this one.

WoW Moviewatch: Fear & Loathing in Pandaria: Townlong Steppes

Baron Soosdon's Fear & Loathing in Pandaria series does two things. First, it shows off the good Baron's amazing machinima chops. His masterful ability to put together beautiful, moving imagery coupled with striking music is unparalleled. Second, it shows off Blizzard's own artistry. Just kick back with a frothy beverage an enjoy this preview of Townlong Steppes; you won't be sorry. Since you'll be helping the Shado-Pan, fighting the mogu, and otherwise doing the do in the zone, this gorgeous video will give a good idea of what to expect.

WoW Moviewatch: Fear & Loathing in Pandaria: Kun-Lai Summit

Kun-Lai Summit is Baron Soosdon's favorite zone in Mists of Pandaria. A relaxing romp along with this video makes it simple to see why. Somewhere between the sublime comfort and the rapid bokeh and tilt-shif-like focus, it makes the zone feel like a wild, ridiculous dream.

Kites? Did we mention kites? Soosdon breathes new life and animation into these panoramic views. It's too easy to chalk up the vision in these work to landscape videos, but that's kind of like calling the Olympics a sports meet. Check it out; you won't be sorry.

WoW Moviewatch: Fear and Loathing in Pandaria: The Wandering Isle

You know what today is a good day for? Eye candy. And when you want eye candy, you know who you go to: the good Baron Soosdon. The Baron is the undisputed master of turning WoW's graphics into a delightful mash of "What the hell am I watching?"

He's tackling The Wandering Isle in the latest installment of his Fear and Loathing in Pandaria series. But don't worry, we can't stop here -- this is panda country!

WoW Moviewatch: Sin City Azeroth

Sin City Azeroth by Baron Soosdon is an old video. Originally released in 2007, this HD version was released by the good Baron in 2009. That means that kids born when he first created this video are now in kindergarten.

The video's still awesome. It still looks amazing. It's a testament to the good Baron's skill and eye for image that Sin City Azeroth is so good. It feels a little choppy, but I took that as part of its composition; your mileage will vary, of course.

WoW Moviewatch: Fear and Loathing in Pandaria: Ragefire Chasm Repopulated

In Fear and Loathing in Pandaria: Ragefire Chasm Repopulated, the good Baron Soosdon jumps into that ancient demonic realm, Ragefire Chasm. (It's not just a clever name.) Exactly how different is the MoP Ragefire Chasm versus what we have now?

The architecture and basic design of RFC is pretty much the same. You won't walk into it and spontaneously not know your way around. However, the old mobs have been replaced with a shiny new array of critters -- lava worms, orcs, and all the other little hallmarks of a brand new experience. We'll probably still get burned out on the place after a while, but RFC will certainly feel new-ish to most of us.

WoW Moviewatch: Fear and Loathing in Pandaria: Scarlet Monastery Reloaded

Baron Soosdon didn't let his stone gather any moss. Fear and Loathing in Pandaria: Scarlet Monastery Reloaded came quickly on the heels of the previous FaLiP, focusing on the recreated bastion of the Scarlet Crusade.

Of course, the in-game version of SM won't look exactly like this, thanks to the animation magic Soosdon lays over the video. Still, this is the most exciting trailer for the new dungeon I've seen so far. Also, the gnome? Awesome.

WoW Moviewatch: Fear and Loathing in Pandaria: The Jade Forest

Baron Soosdon is kind of a legend around here. His videos always feature incredible music and an amazing eye for mind-blowing scenery. Soosdon delivers beautiful graphics and an unmistakable experience, over and over.

That's why I was more than a little excited when I saw Fear and Loathing in Pandaria: The Jade Forest. The master of machinima is tackling the beta zones with the artistic eye you would expect. Check out the video to get a gorgeous look at The Jade Forest. You won't be sorry.

WoW Moviewatch: Sex, Moonkinology and Space Culture: Fear & Loathing in Moonglade

The good Baron Soosdon describes this video as a scientific reproduction of what you feel being hit by Moonfire. Instead of a few seconds of analysis, however, Soosdon provides a long, 7-minute review of the strobing, painful experience.

There's no sex in Sex, Moonkinology and Space Culture: Fear & Loathing in Moonglade. It's a long, trippy right through Moonglade and elven forests, completely with dancing Moonkin and spectacular colors. This video should be avoided by those with epilepsy. Everyone else with an appreciation for Soosdon's unique and powerful style should click right away and go for an amazing ride.

WoW Moviewatch: The Device Has Been Modified

When it's a slow, rainy day around WoW Moviewatch headquarters (as it is), we occasionally look back to the inspiring machinima of yesterday. The Device Has Been Modified is one such video. The song is from Victims of Science from the game Portal.

Baron Soosdon took that inspiration and created an entire world for his protagonist to enter, explore, and shoot up. Using a mechano-strider to personify the computer's voice was a particularly brilliant stroke of inspiration. All in all, The Device Has Ben Modified is still one of our favorite machinimas. Thanks to Adam Holisky for the suggestion!

WoW Moviewatch: Total Escapism vol. 5

We got our first look at the trailer for Total Escapism vol. 5 last week. Good as his word, Baron Soosdon has now made that full movie available on YouTube in the United States. This is the last movie in his Total Escapism series. The Baron will still be around creating machinima, but he felt it was time to close the chapter on this particular series.

Total Escapism vol. 5 is a gorgeous 15-minute romp through the world of Azeroth. You not only get to see some astounding views of places and landmarks in the World of Warcraft, but you'll see some high-quality footage of characters casting spells and living in the game.

Really, though, talking about the subject material of this video does it a disservice. The point isn't the literal narration of what's happening on the screen; instead, the point is to watch the beautiful animation and astounding graphics. It's an experience more than a story, and it's one the Baron has executed marvelously.

WoW Moviewatch: Unlimited Escapism Vol. 5 trailer

All good things must come to an end, including the Unlimited Escapism series by the masterful Baron Soosdon. This is the trailer for Unlimited Escapism Vol. 5, the final installment.

This trailer shows off the same hallmarks as the rest of the Baron's videos. You can see his astounding eye for beautiful, engaging graphics as well as his tongue-in-cheek reflections on his own work. While this is technically just a trailer, it's as beautiful and engaging as many full-length videos we've seen.

You can see the whole video here on Vimeo. It's worth every moment you watch.
