Will Sunsong Ranch fade into irrelevance in patch 6.0?

Will Sunsong Ranch buy the farm with 60
We've had some good times and some bad times with the Sunsong Ranch. Its original owner was more than just a little annoying at times, and there were issues with virmen and birds and all manner of extremely tiresome weeds, but it seems like the torrid affair may be coming to a close with patch 6.0. Blizzard Lead Systems Designer Greg "Ghostcrawler" Street tweeted the following over the weekend:

So, it seems like the good news is that the ranch definitely won't be gone for good. It will remain on Pandaria, in its peaceful setting, for you to visit whenever you see fit, grow some herbs, watch the virmen and the birds, kill a weed, or just shoot the breeze with your pets. However, it doesn't sound like it will continue to be updated in the new expansion.

What does this mean for the farm's success? Did it perform how the devs had hoped? Did it kill herbing? Were players too reliant on it? It would certainly be interesting to see whether this means an enhanced farm, or even something more akin to the much-desired player housing might appear with 6.0. It is also possible, of course, that the farm might go the way of other features that have been left for dust, and never reappear.

Bringing the SW:TOR legacy system to WoW

Last names in WoW
I had a lot of fun during my brief stint as a Sith Inquisitor in Star Wars: The Old Republic. The leveling was great, the storylines were compelling, the instances were interesting, but I eventually went back to World of Warcraft in the end. SW:TOR didn't feel very unique, it didn't have enough to grab me and hold me, to suffocate me with its content and keep me away from Blizzard.

Even so, there were a few differences between Bioware's entry into the MMO space and our site's namesake, one of them being the concept of a server-wide legacy. SW:TOR's legacy system, if incorporated into WoW, could be a great way of introducing leveling bonuses and the like, something WoW has historically done via heirlooms and guild perks. Personally, heirlooms have always left me feeling a bit too overpowered and take some of the fun out of the leveling process -- I've even leveled characters without heirlooms, just because it's more challenging and, thus, rewarding.

Patch 5.2 PTR: Triple turkey stack gobbled by pet battle crowd control nerf

Pet battle cheese comps beep boop

Now that MoP has been out for a few months, I find myself enjoying pet battles far more than I thought I would. That being said, it was only a matter of time before griefing made its way into this part of the game as well -- even if it is by turkeys. Yes, turkeys.

It all started with the rather harmless sounding "Triple Turkey." Unfortunately, it's not a sandwich I can nom on, but is instead something much more sinister in the world of pet battles. The Triple Turkey comp quickly became the flavor of the month for trolls in PvP pet battles, using abusing the irritating Food Coma ability to the max. If you've never encountered it before, Food Coma puts the opponent to sleep for two rounds, on a five round cooldown.

But that cooldown only applies to the turkey who casts it. So, we were left with creative individuals who would use Food Coma, swap to a second turkey, use Food Coma, swap, and so on.
