WoW Moviewatch: Circus

At this rate, Demachic's gonna give me a complex. I now know far too much about the current happenings of Britney Spears. My knowledge of Britney music has quickly become my dark, secret shame. The kind of shame you keep quiet, tied up and gagged under the bed, where polite company needn't see it as they come by to visit. Which is a roundabout way of saying Demachic is back with another Britney Belf music video -- Circus.

This video is as astoundingly well done as Demachic's other Britney offernings. I suggest watching the WoW version first, before going back to see the Britney version. I have to admit that I think Demachic did a better job of characterizing the music. I do think that the blood elf model chosen by Demachic is a great representation for Britney, and operates in the confine of the video very, very well.

I particularly like the glamorous circus Demachic built for this video. It would have been an easy cop-out to simply use the Darkmoon Faire as a setting for the "Circus" video. Instead, she built the entire set piece by piece, to emulate the actual circus environment from the Britney original. It must have been a painstaking effort, and one that paid off for her.

WoW Moviewatch: Britney Spears - Piece of Me

If you'd told me two days ago that I'd be featuring a WoW music video based on a Britney Spears song, I'd have called you a bloody liar. But. Well. Here I am, featuring a WoW music video based on a Britney Spears song. Real life is stranger than fiction, I guess. Check out Britney Spears - Piece of Me.

This video was posted anonymously on Machinima.com. I didn't really expect a lot from the video. First, it was anonymous. Usually, that means the author is expecting to get flamed and burned for their efforts, and don't want to associate his or her identity with the piece. Second, the anonymous author also said it's a first-time-out piece, and that he or she is learning the ropes. Lastly, it's a Britney Spears song. I mean, c'mon.

I was pleasantly surprised. No, shocked! While I can't say that I loved the song and that it's going to change the world, the quality of the video absolutely astounded me. The Blood Elf singer is an obvious choice to represent Spears, but the screen glows, white-outs, and effects are perfectly suited to the persona. The graphics and settings are well chosen and cleverly pieced together, exactly as I'd expect a Spears video to go.

So, while this might not be your schtick, exactly, you've got to applaud the incredible first effort from this Anonymous author. Well done, and here's hoping for more. My only real note to the author is that you should go ahead and reveal your identity with this -- you've got some growing skills, and should be proud of what you've done.

EDIT: As commenter Stalwart has pointed out, this is a video first created by Demachic, and reviewed by Moo Money. Still, the video's worth another watch.

WoW Moviewatch: Piece of Me

You're going to have to keep an open mind for this next video, Piece of Me. It may be based on a Britney Spears song, but it's really well done. I know that you might want to pass up on it just for the music, the same way I do with Linkin Park videos, but hear me out.

The machinimator, Demachic, is a 13 year old girl from Ireland, and this is her first machinima! She managed to do better than some people on their tenth work, so it's surprising that it wasn't spotlighted on Warcraftmovies. She modeled it to look like the original music video, but it's not an exact replica. While I normally hate on excessive varying transitions, her use of them only enhances the video. I'm eager to see what song she machinimates next!

WoW Moviewatch: There Will Be Cannibalism

It's only been about a week since we posted Gnomechewer's last machinima, Back In Your Head, but he's already back with a new one! There Will Be Cannibalism could be the closest thing to PvP that I'll ever enjoy posting here. It is a parody of There Will Be Blood, with Daniel Day Lewis, set to the disturbing sounds of a Britney Spears tune, Toxic. Given Gnomechewer's track record with the crowd, and his ability to produce quality entertainment consistently, we're thrilled that he abandoned Age of Conan and came back to WoW.
