The first reports are in on Cataclysm
sales, and the expansion appears to be doing quite well. In the first 24 hours of the game's release, World of Warcraft: Cataclysm
sold 3.3 million copies (compared to Wrath of the Lich King's
2.8 million). This is only a good thing for Azeroth, as it's seeing this expansion be even bigger than the last -- and for a six-year-old game that's three expansions in ... that could be unprecedented.

This milestone eclipses the previous record of more than 2.8 million copies sold in 24 hours, set in November 2008 by Blizzard's second World of Warcraft expansion, Wrath of the Lich King®.
