WoW comic podcast with Chris Metzen from Comicon

The weekend before BlizzCon, Chris Metzen (Blizzard's Vice President of Creative Development), Jim Lee and DC Comics were at Comicon discussing the new World of Warcraft Comic Book.

Blizzplanet has an excellent synopsis of the panel, but DC Comics has the hourlong podcast available as well in case you want to hear about lore and the comic book straight from Chris Metzen's mouth.

Pictured here is Valeera Sanguinar, a Blood Elf Rogue Action Figure that is not available until October 24th. She is a character that is introduced in the comic book along with the other Action Figures: Thargas Anvilmar, Rehgar Earthfury and Meryl Felstorm.

The thing I find most interesting is that the comic book is a way that Blizzard is introducing new lore to be added to the game in future patches/expansions.

Chris Metzen is highly entertaining and passionate about the wonderful lore he has created. I highly recommend giving the podcast a listen, if you have the chance.

Thank you Dark Yoshi and Onnix for the tip!

Diorama sculpture #1 unveiled at Comi Con

Most of our news of late has been about BlizzCon, but as anyone interested in comics knows the mother of all comic conventions began today in San Diego, Comi Con. Blizzplanet today posted about one little bit of WoW-related news released at the convention today: the first in a series of WoW sculptures. This particular sculpture is based on that spectacular mural we saw at the first BlizzCon (okay, so maybe this story is related to BlizzCon after all) featuring the battle between a Blood Elf and a Draenei.

This series of sculptures, created by Sideshow Collectibles, will be available next year, so we have a while to wait, but the images sure are amazing. I'm not one for statue collections, but I will definitely have to pick this one up, especially considering the collector's edition will feature a Nether Whelp.

Warcraft novel author Richard A. Knaak will be at Blizzcon

Blizzplanet got word from Richard A. Knaak himself that he's going to be at Blizzcon next weekend. Knaak, you may know, is the author of the War of the Ancients series of Warcraft books, as well as the author of other Sci Fi and Fantasy books, including a few books set in the Diablo universe.

He'll be hanging at the Tokyopop and Pocket Star books booth showing off their Warcraft Manga book, the Sunwell Trilogy, as well as promoting the upcoming release of the reprint compliation of the WotA trilogy. Knaak's blog also says he's going to be at Comicon this week, if you're in San Diego for that one, and has another interesting little tidbit: apparently the first book of the Sunwell Trilogy has been picked up as an SAT study book. So you can read about Warcraft and study for the SAT at the same time.

Anyway, no word on whether Knaak will be actually signing or not, but he seems like a nice enough guy, and will probably be happy to discuss any of the ins and outs of Warcraft lore with you. And if you are going to Blizzcon, don't forget-- we'll be happy to discuss them with you too!

Thanks, Chadwick!
