Win EveryAir for your iOS device from WoW Insider

EveryAir is a really cool app for iOS devices that acts as a remote desktop -- but the reason why we like it is because it lets you play World of Warcraft on your iOS device. That's right! Play WoW on your iPad or even your iPhone, with minimal latency. We interviewed the app's creators (dedicated WoW fans themselves) a few months ago, and they were kind enough to give us a lot of coupon codes to get EveryAir for free on the App Store.

And now they're doing it again! WoW Insider is happy to give our readers the chance to win one of 50 copies of EveryAir. And all you have to do is leave a comment on this post before Sunday, Feb. 13 at 11:59 p.m. EST. This contest is valid for readers from the United States and Canada (excluding Quebec). You must be 18 years of age or older to enter. And make sure your email address is up to date, because that's how we'll contact you if you're a winner!

Letter from the Editor: Of contests, comments and columnists

Hello. Your friendly neighborhood editor-in-chief here to fill you in on what is happening on various parts of WoW Insider. We get a lot of emails on our tip line, and often they are asking the same question: Where's Mankrik's wife? No, I kid. Kind of. Instead of spam answering those emails every day or cluttering up The Queue, I thought I'd clear up a few things by using the magic of posting on the site.

Contests

Notification emails to the 12 Days of Winter Veil winners are still going out, and if we don't hear back, we have to pick new ones and start the process over again. With over 100 prizes given away last month, it's taking some time. We will be posting the names of the winners when all those winners have been confirmed.

Commenting and profile system

We have have received quite a few complaints about readers not being able to comment or change their profile password, etc. Unfortunately, the current commenting system has some well-known, long-standing bugs. The good news is that we will be migrating to an entirely new commenting system soon and that will solve many of those problems. Your current profile information will be transferred over into the new system. We will post new information when we get closer to that transition.

Officers' Quarters: Accelerating guild achievements

Every Monday, Scott Andrews contributes Officers' Quarters, a column about the ins and outs of guild leadership. He is the author of The Guild Leader's Handbook, available from No Starch Press.

News broke last week of a new Cataclysm beta patch that added a host of guild achievements to the game. MMO Champion has the full list. Some of these achievements -- such as looting 200,000 gold from creatures -- you may decide to allow to simply accumulate over time. After all, most of them can be earned through the natural course of events, assuming your members participate in all aspects of the game.

However, if you'd like to pursue these guild achievements aggressively, this column is for you. Let's take a look at how you can accelerate some of these achievements and how you can motivate your guild to help.

First of all, let's talk about the motivation that the game itself will provide. Earning guild achievements, according to August's guild advancement Q&A, provides "nice, fat chunks of experience [that] feel great when you get 'em." We also know from blue poster Mumper that "anything that grants guild XP will also grant guild faction." Putting two and two together, we can conclude that earning a guild achievement will also award the players who earned it a hefty dose of guild reputation. This extra guild rep and guild experience may be motivation enough.

But why stop there? Let's take an active role, as officers, in providing organization and incentives.

Win one of three free FigurePrints Busts

Bad news, folks -- some of you are in for a day-long maintenance period today, which means no WoW for you until tomorrow. We know, we know, life is hard to bear sometimes. But we've got just the thing to cheer you up!

We're teaming up with FigurePrints to give away three of their new busts -- customizable high-detail statuettes based on your WoW character -- for free! How can you get in on the action, you ask? All you have to do is comment on this post between now and 11:59 p.m. EST on Friday, June 11 with the answer to this question: "What would be engraved on a statue of your character?"

We'll randomly pick three winners who'll receive gift certificates for a free FigurePrints bust. It's that simple! Of course, there are some other rules. Winners must be legal residents of the United States or Canada (except Quebec). You may only enter once, and winners must be 18 years of age or older. Maintenance day loot from WoW.com

WoW.com is giving even more loot cards away today, thanks to an extremely generous donation from WoWTCGLoot.com. Today you have a chance to get your hands on one of two Slashdance codes, one of two Tiny codes (these are horses for the Alliance and raptors for the Horde), or one Path of Cenarius code.

All you need to do is leave a comment on this post. Make sure you comment using an email address you check frequently, as that's how we'll be contacting our winners. You may only enter once or you will be disqualified. The deadline is this time tomorrow morning. To be more clear, the deadline is May 26th at 6:00 AM EDT. Comments will be disabled at that time, and winners will be chosen randomly (and so will the prizes).

Good luck!

Blizzard manga giveaway from Lorehound

Lorehound.com once again continues to offer up all things good and manga-related by putting up a fun little contest. Look at your bookshelf. Is it barren of any Blizzard/Tokyopop manga titles? Does it weep silently in the night, wishing it could be graced by the volumes of Warcraft Legends and the Starcraft titles? Hope no more, dear bookshelf, for if you enter Lorehound's Incredibly Short Story contest, you have the potential to win every single Blizzard manga title in existance.

Put on your robe and thinking cap and write a 150- to 300-word story on why you think you deserve the book collection. It can be anything: sob story, comedy, thoughtful introspective, a shopping list or whatever. Submit your story, and Lorehound will narrow down the runner-ups. From there, the community will vote on which one is the best.

Considering this is nearly $70+ worth of manga, I'd say that's not a bad deal. Best of luck to all who enter!
