Mylune cosplayer Lyz Brickley hugs a bunny right now!

The first memorable interaction I had with an NPC in Warcraft was with a dryad. The starting night elf quests in classic beta were fairly cut and dry until I was asked to speak to Tarindrella. Clicking on her elicited not the staid and composed response of the night elves, but an incredibly enthusiastic and entirely out of place "Hi!" that made me simultaneously laugh hysterically and fall in love. One of the best moments of Cataclysm was meeting Mylune and reading the hysterical quest text to save all the wee little animals, and seeing her again in Firelands was equally entertaining.

Of all the likely characters one might see at the BlizzCon cosplay contest, the last I expected to see was cheerful and bubbly Mylune. Thank goodness I wasn't the only one who loved the character so much. Cosplayer Lyz Brickley came through with an utterly amazing, fully articulated costume of everyone's favorite critter enthusiast that is less a costume and more a fully mobile work of art. Follow after the break for a few words with Lyz and the creation of a four-legged masterpiece of costuming.

World of WarCrafts spotlights art and creativity by WoW players, including fan art, cooking, comics, cosplay, music, fan fiction and more. Sample the whole spectrum on our Arts and Crafts in WoW page.

This year's winners for the BlizzCon costume contest were all incredibly amazing efforts, such as the winning costume above, but the contest isn't over for the runner-up costumes! Crafter Kirei transforms WoW characters into works of art

World of WarCrafts spotlights art and creativity by WoW players, including fan art, cooking, comics, cosplay, music, fan fiction and more. Sample the whole spectrum on our Arts and Crafts in WoW page.

If you've ever played LittleBigPlanet, you're probably familiar with the Sack People -- crocheted little characters that can be customized with assorted bits of wardrobe to look however you'd like them to look. For crafter Bobbi, otherwise known as Kirei of Artistic Gaming, the Sack People of LittleBigPlanet have taken on a life of their own in full-out, three-dimensional, cuddly crocheted sackdolls. But Kiriei's taken the idea of crafted sack dolls one step further on her blog, crafting recreations of characters from all sorts of video games, including World of Warcraft.

The dolls shine right down to the last detail -- whether it's the tiny tusks on a Troll shaman or the delicate jewels and crystals adorning Tyrande Whisperwind's gown. Check out the gallery below for a look at the Warcraft sack dolls, and follow after the break for more from Kirei!

Vanessa VanCleef cosplayer shares experience balancing big cosplay projects

World of WarCrafts spotlights art and creativity by WoW players, including fan art, cooking, comics, cosplay, music, fan fiction and more. Sample the whole spectrum on our Arts and Crafts in WoW page.

Vanessa VanCleef is something of a fan favorite at WoW Insider. Appearing in not one but two seasons of Two Bosses Enter, Vanessa managed to trick her way up the brackets for a shot at winning it all. Needless to say, I was hoping to see at least one Vanessa cosplayer at BlizzCon this year, and I was not disappointed. Meet Kristie, otherwise known as KittyCatChi on Cosplay.com. Kristie's been doing cosplay of various anime and comic book characters for years, but this year, she decided to devote her time to creating two costumes for BlizzCon -- Vanessa VanCleef for herself and a very nice Harrison Jones costume for her boyfriend Wren.

Given Kristie's background, it's no wonder the final product turned out to be accurate, detailed, and gorgeous! Take a look at the gallery for some of the process behind creating the Vanessa costume, and follow us after the break for more from Kristie.

World of WarCrafts: The stunning cosplay of Christina Sims

World of WarCrafts spotlights art and creativity by WoW players, including fan art, cooking, comics, cosplay, music, fan fiction and more. Sample the whole spectrum on our Arts and Crafts in WoW page.

BlizzCon just wouldn't be BlizzCon if it weren't for the cosplay -- and this year's costumes were absolutely stunning. We were lucky enough at BlizzCon this year to get a chance to meet up with Christina Sims, who won last year's cosplay competition with her startlingly accurate reproduction of the Diablo 3 monk costume. Christina hasn't been resting on her laurels since last year's win. In between Alexstrasza appearances at the Darkmoon Faire, she constructed yet another elaborate and exceedingly detailed costume for this year, based on the paladin tier 12 set.

Check out the gallery below for a look at Christina's previous costumes, as well as some in-progress shots from this year's entry, and follow us after the break for a few words from Christina about the art of costuming and Warcraft.

We've mentioned Niki Casselberry before -- otherwise known as Edenvale, Niki is responsible for the cooking blog The Gamer's Fridge, which hosts a variety of gamer-themed recipes. It turns out that Niki isn't the only one who's got crafting skills! Her husband Ray, otherwise known as Neotaeo from the guild DunderMifflin of Anvilmar (US-A), also takes part in the crafting fun. Along with tanking on his Night Elf, Ray creates tiny trinkets and crafts from Sculpey and other items.

Take a look at the gallery for Ray's work so far, and follow after the break for more about Ray, a look at some amazing papercrafting, and a tiny amigurumi Venomhide Ravasaur that you can make yourself!

World of WarCrafts: Making a custom RPG, Warcraft-style

World of WarCrafts spotlights art and creativity by WoW players, including fan art, cooking, comics, cosplay, music, fan fiction and more. Sample the whole spectrum on our Arts and Crafts in WoW page.

Longtime readers may remember Murloc RPG, a game we featured way back in 2006. The game received an update earlier this year with the release of Murloc: Stranglethorn Fever. Hot on its heels is the latest release, Murloc RPG 2, all by Unmediocre. The game looks just like the World of Warcraft we know and love, with one small exception: Instead of playing a mighty Tauren or a Dwarven hero of the Alliance, you play ... a murloc.

That's right -- this Flash-based game lets you play as one of those fishy pests we've been killing off in WoW for years. Complete with quests, dialogue, combat, and the occasional chest to loot, Murloc RPG 2 isn't just an idle day's worth of messing about in Flash; it's a full-fledged gaming experience. So how did this all come about? Follow after the break where we have a quick chat with the maker of this incredibly detailed Flash homage to WoW.

World of WarCrafts: Crafts from around the web

I love getting random submissions for World of WarCrafts, but sometimes I get a backlog of interesting and fun links to check out. Today I'm going to clear out some of the backlog and share a few of the submissions I've gotten over the past several months, like the adorable and fearsome Magmaw hand puppet shown above. Created by Glow over at Glow's Branches, Magmaw isn't just incredibly cute, he's also incredibly easy to make. Glow posted a how-to guide on creating your very own Magmaw for instructional raid purposes. Or just because he's charming, of course.

Speaking of cute, the next submission on the list is a pair of prancing ponies customized to a Horde and Alliance theme. Check out the ponies and other crafts after the break!

World of WarCrafts: Recipe roundup

What's cooking? We've posted a ton of Warcraft-inspired cooking recipes over the years. In fact, the Warcraft recipes didn't just begin with World of WarCrafts. We used to have a column called Well Fed Buff that exclusively covered Warcraft-inspired recipes, and that column was merged with World of WarCrafts a long time ago -- well before my time here at WoW Insider.

Needless to say, that's a heck of a lot of recipes out there! One of the most frequent requests I receive is that we provide a list of all the recipes we've covered to date. I like requests, and I love cooking, so today we've got exactly that -- a roundup of all the recipes we've posted. From Barbecued Buzzard Wings and Murloc Fin Soup to Essence Mango and Fizzy Faire Drinks, we've got you covered. Follow after the break for a cavalcade of cooking recipes sure to inspire.

World of WarCrafts: Dalaran Doughnuts

Azeroth has a variety of sweet treats to choose from. Some will make you feel better, others are meant to be shared with friends, and others ... well, you can just hog them for yourself. Mages are known for concocting sweet treats out of nothing, but today we've got a confection sold only in the Kirin Tor base city of Dalaran. We've got no clue whether these doughnuts are conjured up by mages or not, but today's recipe is about as easy to conjure as making a Mana Biscuit or Strudel.

Everyone knows doughnuts are best when they're fresh, and when you wander to your local bakery, you've no idea how long the doughnuts there have been sitting on the shelf. So what would you say if I said I have a doughnut recipe that's so easy that you can have fresh, warm doughnuts in your greedy little paws in the matter of about 10 minutes or so? Interested? Let's get to the kitchen and make some magic!

World of WarCrafts: The fanciful cosplay of Svetlana Quindt

World of WarCrafts spotlights art and creativity by WoW players, including fan art, cooking, comics, cosplay, music, fan fiction and more. Sample the whole spectrum on our Arts and Crafts in WoW page.

BlizzCon is coming, and it's already sounding like it's going to be a good one. Last year was my first BlizzCon experience, and besides being dazzled by the lights, panels, and sheer number of people wandering the convention hall, one of the things that caught my eye were the costumes. They were everywhere. I'd seen photos of years past, but nothing really compares to seeing these costumes live and in person. Every little detail that goes into creating an authentic-looking piece of armor is astounding.

That said, I put a call out on Twitter last week asking for cosplayers who'd like to be interviewed, and goodness, did I get a reply. Svetlana Quindt may be a familiar name to some people and a familiar face for others. European fans of the WoW TCG may recognize her as none other than the Dragonqueen Alexstrasza from Darkmoon Faire: Köln earlier this year.

Mind-bogglingly intricate and exquisitely constructed, Svetlana's costumes include both armor and weapons, running the gamut from Warcraft to Diablo and even Aion. And if that's not enough, she blogs about the process and even has tutorials on her site! Check out the gallery for just a few of Svetlana's gorgeous works of art, and follow after the break for more from Svetlana.

World of WarCrafts: The musical compositions of Daniela

World of WarCrafts spotlights art and creativity by WoW players, including fan art, cooking, comics, cosplay, music, fan fiction and more. Sample the whole spectrum on our Arts and Crafts in WoW page.

When I was a kid, I always wanted to play an instrument, but my parents couldn't afford to get me lessons, so I tried the tactic of teaching myself to play on an old keyboard. I never got anywhere with it, but in the process, I did develop a great deal of respect for those who can play instruments, whatever they happen to be. It's a lot harder than it looks! Today, we've got a musician who plays and sings her way along with tracks from video games, original song compositions, and parodies of contemporary music, to boot.

Daniela, or Starwarspunk as she's known on YouTube, has been gaming for a long time and creating music even longer. In addition to creating songs, she also collaborates with other YouTube artists who remix her work with an electronic flair -- I love watching the contrast between raw version and remix. Dani was kind enough to sit down and have a chat with us about her musical background, her influences, and of course, World of Warcraft.

World of WarCrafts: The musical work of Katethegreat19

World of WarCrafts spotlights art and creativity by WoW players, including fan art, cooking, comics, cosplay, music, fan fiction and more. Sample the whole spectrum on our Arts and Crafts in WoW page.

Sometimes fan music comes in the form of parodies or remixes of contemporary music. And sometimes we get covers of music from the game itself. Today, we've got the latter -- haunting and beautiful remixes of original Warcraft music. Katethegreat19, as she's known on YouTube, has been creating breathtaking covers of gaming music for several years now from Warcraft and from other popular gaming titles. Her moody and evocative tunes highlight a background with a Celtic influence and show off some serious skills with composition and mixing.

We've featured katethegreat19 on WoW Moviewatch before, including her first foray into machinima with her Temple of the Moon cover. But Kate's covered a lot more than just Warcraft tunes, and she's got a definite talent for composing, mixing and creating original lyrics -- even songs that never had lyrics to begin with. Kate was gracious enough to sit down and have a chat with us about her musical background, composing, the process of creating tracks, and of course, Warcraft.

World of WarCrafts: T-shirts and more from Julia Minamata

Who doesn't love a good T-shirt, especially if it's got great design? I know I do, although my T-shirt skills lean toward clicking an appropriate link on Jinx and typing in my credit card information. Creating T-shirts can be a time-consuming process, but the end result is ultimately satisfying, especially when one has the skills to back it up. Today we've got a crafter who is particularly talented when it comes to creating Warcraft T-shirts -- but given her background, this really isn't too much of a surprise.

Meet Julia Minamata, a freelance illustrator who is no slouch when it comes to art. She's worked for clients including BusinessWeek, The New Yorker and The National Post. Don't let the big names fool you; Julia's art lends itself to whimsical color and dreamy characters, something that works perfectly with a game like World of Warcraft. Julia's been creating Warcraft T-shirts, art, and sculpture for friends and family for years, and now she's sharing it with us! Check out the gallery for a look at Julia's Warcraft work, and follow after the break as we sit down to have a chat with Julia about her background in art, her T-shirts, and World of Warcraft.
