WoW Moviewatch: The Search for Hope

It's been a little while since we've heard from Croftzi, so when I got a mail from her, I was pretty excited. This is a fairly straightforward video, but I can't tell you anything about it. You have to experience it. However, it Croftzi's word, she tried to make it "a very dramatic story." So kick back and take a couple minutes to watch The Search for Hope.

WoW Moviewatch: Vashjir Harvest Moon

Whoa, trippy. It's occasionally nice to put on some chill background music while you're working around the house. It's even better when that music is accompanied by gorgeous, interesting visuals. I think Vashjir Harvest Moon by Croftzi just became one of my favorite videos for that.

Harvest Moon by Dan Stone is fairly compelling trance music, and Croftzi coupled it wonderfully with amazing visuals from WoW's token underwater zone. While I wouldn't have expected to get entranced by another camera-roams-landscape-wandering-samurai video, Croftzi's excellent blending of music and imagery did surprisingly well. This is a pretty fun video.

WoW Moviewatch: RP-PvP events on Defias Brotherhood

This video is a roundup of various world PvP events on the roleplay server Defias Brotherhood (EU). While we generally don't do a great deal of PvP videos around here, this was enough of a unique snowflake that I wanted to bring some attention to it.

A common complaint on official forums is that world PvP is dead. (For those who don't know, world PvP is the phenomenon wherein multiple characters flag and fight wherever they happen to be standing. Tol Barad doesn't really count.) I'm a big fan of this video because it proves world PvP is still viable; it can happen, if you're dedicated enough to getting out there and doing it.

Thanks to Croftzi for the tip; I was really happy to see this video.

WoW Moviewatch: Bitten

Croftzi's previous video, Edge of Glory, was a fun romp featuring music from Lady Gaga. While that was a fun bubblegum romp of pop music, Croftzi stepped up her game by approaching the gothic genre of Worgen.

Bitten is a fairly simple plot for a video. A female Blood Elf seems to carry the wolfen curse of Gilneas. Her boyfriend shows up, does some dramatic posing (as Blood Elves are wont to do ), and then finally gets bitten by the woman. I'll avoid spoiling the video, but here's a hint: Nobody dies.

I liked Bitten, even though I think the plot could have used a little more exposition. While the video is fun, I hope to see the plot moved forward in additional videos.

WoW Moviewatch: The Edge of Glory

Croftzi created this Azeroth-themed music video for Lady Gaga's The Edge of Glory. While I am a reluctant Lady Gaga fan, this song never really wormed its way into my heart. It's a fine song, as far as pop culture music goes, but it just didn't have any particular beats or lyrics that captured my imagination.

This video, however, illuminated the song for me. Croftzi's video is fun and engaging; it works well with the natural motion of Gaga's song. It's also nice to see a love story for a pair of trolls; somehow, we just don't see many of those.

I'm excited to see more from Croftzi. This is my first real exposure to her work, and I hope it's not the last.
