Good Tuesday Morning everyone! We have a long maintenance ahead of us today, from 3AM to 11AM PDT. This downtime is in part to install new hardware on the Dunemaul realm in preparation for Wrath of the Lich King. Adam speculated a bit on what it may mean for the release date, but what it means in the short term is that those of us who play around now have to find something else to do.

Since we have somewhere in the neighborhood of 8 hours to wait until we can play WoW again, this is the perfect time to do a little bit of browsing on WoW Insider. Here's a recap of just some of the great content from the past week.

The World Wide Invitational was the big event of the weekend, of course, and there we had a team on the convention floor gathering all the news. You can check out our giant WWI roundup for all the liveblogs and reports on the class panel, the PvP panel, the dungeons and raids panel, and the Q&A panel, and event coverage. In addition, we posted even more Worldwide Invitational news and analysis on Monday:

While WWI did take up a lot of everyone's time and imagination this past week, there was other non-WWI news to be had... for example, the splash screen that appeared in the days before WWI!

Here's a heads-up to all our North American night owls early risers and Oceanic readers: It's Tuesday morning, and that means maintenance. Luckily, it's a short one today. Bornakk has said that they expect most servers to only be down a half hour, starting at 5AM PDT and ending a 5:30AM PDT. There are some extra servers that will be down slightly longer, until 6:30AM PDT. Those servers will be listed after the break. Aussies can rejoice as well, as any Oceanic servers not on this list won't be taken down until 5AM AEST (Which is noon over here on the American west coast).

Monhay of Dunemaul-EU writes to us with a rather interesting story about a guildmate of his. According to Monhay, Oasie, an undead warrior in Rigor Mortis, decided that he wanted to level up to 70 without ever setting foot in Outlands.

He chose to grind on the level 60ish mobs available in the game, from Winterspring to Silithus to the Plaguelands. When those stopped giving experience, he headed to the mobs in front of Karazhan and running the Caverns of Time: Old Hillsbrad instance. To upgrade his gear, he PVPed and surfed the auction house. At 4:07 AM his time this Friday, he walked through the Dark Portal for the first time.

Most people probably have the same question right now as I do: Why the heck would you do this? Most of us found it painful enough to get through levels 20-58 of post-BC alts, knowing that Outland was there with its tantalizing quest rewards and good experience. I can't imagine buying the expansion and waiting six freaking months to see any of the content. But Monhay said that Oasie had a very good reason: he heard how much money you got for doing Outland quests at 70, and wanted that money to buy his sister's epic riding skill. Awww.

Thundgot has announced upcoming server transfers and new transfer-only realms to be introduced over the next month.   These are still subject to change, but hopefully will give EU players an idea of what to expect.
