Servers coming back up

Maintenance has been extended until 4 p.m. EDT (1 p.m. PDT). This will give us all more time to debate/rage about the upcoming official forum changes.

We'll keep you up to date with any changes to the realm status.

In the meantime, let's talk about something nice and calm and not controversial. Which character are you making first? Goblin or worgen? I will be making a goblin shadowpriestess first thing. I haven't decided on a name yet, though. Any suggestions?

Update 4:05 p.m.: Servers are being brought up in batches, according to the login screen and all should be up in 15 minutes.

[Thanks for the tip, Brandon!]

Maintenance extended by two hours

Not that this should be a surprise to anyone...

But maintenance has been extended until 1:00 p.m. PDT / 4:00 p.m. EDT. There is no indication why the maintenance has been extended, but that's the norm as well.

You can find out what's in the patch over on the Patch 3.1.1 Patch Notes and Bug Fix List, as well as by checking out our updated Guide To Patch 3.1.

We'll update this post with the latest news / server status when we have it.

3.0.8 maintenance extended to 1 PM PST

Sorry, folks. You'll have to wait just a little bit longer for 3.0.8. The new and stylish Launcher just informed us disappointed players that maintenance has been extended to 1 PM Pacific time.

But don't let your anticipation get the best of you! In the meantime, why don't you read some of our other extensive 3.0.8 coverage and get yourself pumped for it, or do Alex's crossword? Idle hands, and all that.

Downtime extended to 1 O'Clock PST

Bornakk just posted that the downtime has been extended until 1:00 p.m. PST / 4:00 p.m. EST. This is never a good thing when maintenance gets extended, but at least Blizzard is hard at work on the servers.

We haven't received any information that there are any new hotfixes being applied. So we'll probably have to wait to log in to see if any of the bugged quests are fixed or not.

WoW Insider will update you when the realms are up... a few hours from now.

Maintenance extended by two hours

Maintenance has been extended by two hours today. The realms are scheduled to come up at 1:00 p.m. PST, or 4:00 p.m. EST. The opening in game announcement told us about this, and is accompanied with the message that they've experienced some issues while maintaining things.

But never fear! WoW Insider has you covered for this downtime with all the latest patch 3.0.3 information:
So sit back, read up on some class changes, and take this extended-extended down time to go and vote if you haven't already.

Extended maintenance tomorrow

All U.S. realms will be offline for extended maintenance tomorrow from 5:00 a.m. PDT until 11:00 a.m. PDT. This came from an announcement via the login screen.

Servers have been mostly stable this past week after a series of rolling restarts Blizzard did a few days ago. Hopefully this won't cause too many problems for those hoping to enjoy the game Tuesday evening.

Stay tuned to WoW Insider for the latest on realm issues and other WoW news.

Extended downtime for Tuesday May 6th

The announcement on the login screen tonight tells us that the realms will be down for extended maintenance on Tuesday May 6th, from 3:00 a.m. PDT until 11:00 a.m. PDT. It's curious how extended maintenance used to last from five until eleven, but now lasts an extra two hours – from three until eleven.

Today we've seen the PTR (Public Test Realm) go down, and then come back up again. Earlier we thought this was a good indication that patch 2.4.2 was going to be released on May 6th, however with the PTR still being up, we don't believe that will be the case. Of course I could be completely wrong here – and we all might get a shiny new download screen tomorrow morning.

Only time will tell, and stay tuned to WoW Insider for the latest. We'll also keep you abreast of when the realms come back online, and any lingering issues that may arise.

Extended maintenance [Updated]

The in-game breaking news text just announced extended maintenance for tomorrow. This again, is a strong indicator that patch 2.4 is on the immediate queue. We can expect the down time to be at least until 11 a.m. PDT. This normally is substantially higher on patch days, usually lasting until around 1 p.m. or 2 p.m. PDT.

WoW Insider staff will be burning the midnight oil to make sure that you have a good list of patch mirrors and addon information ready to go when you wake up tomorrow morning.

Additionally, Belfaire has said that the patch is more around 300 megs, not the 900 megs that is showing up on Gamespot. Further more, the Gamespot download is a 2.0 to 2.4 update, which very few people will need tomorrow.

Updated 12:20 a.m. PDT: Belfaire is having fun with me. First he confirms, then he edits, then he edits again...

Updated 1:12 a.m. PDT: Updated Gameespot info, thanks to those who left comments on tonight's posts. And a fix for Belfaire. =)
