Reminder: It came from the Blog's Winter Veil

Reminder It came from the Blog's Winter Veil 2012 event is tomorrow
Ho ho ho! It came from the Blog's Winter Veil 2012 event is tomorrow and all are welcome!
  • When: Tomorrow, Saturday, Dec. 29 at Noon EST (9 a.m. PST, 10 a.m. server)
  • Where: Meet under the Winter Veil Tree in Orgrimmar on Zangarmarsh (US-PvE-H)
  • Who: Any Horde character level 10 or above
  • How: Ask Tizzi or any It came from the Blog member for an invite, if you are not already part of our family of guilds
We will be traveling around via mage portal, which is why you must be level 10 or above to join us -- as you can't join raids at lower levels. You'll also need a Gaudy Winter Veil Sweater and some Snowballs. Both can be purchased from the Smokywood Pastures vendors for mere coppers, but if you are lacking the cash, we'll hook you up. The only other preparations you need to make are to carry your sense of humor and banish your fear of death.

So join us tomorrow for holiday festivities guaranteed to jingle your bells!

Please join us on Zangarmarsh (US-PvE-H) in It came from the Blog. All guild ranks can invite, so /whisper Tizzi or any online member. You are all welcome as long as you play by our simple rules -- basically, don't be a funsucker! Visit the guild FAQ for more details.

It came from the Blog Join us for Winter Veil 2012
This Saturday, join It came from the Blog for some Winter Veil fun. I've planned some non-traditional holiday activities which are guaranteed to include the following: achievements, mortal danger, virtual beer drinking, travel. I'm hoping to avoid nudity this time around, but no promises. Here are the particulars:
  • When: Saturday, Dec.
If you have snowballs and a Gaudy Winter Veil Sweater, you'll want to bring those. Otherwise, they are available for just a few copper from the Smokywood Pastures vendors. Money will be provided if you don't have enough coins in your pockets.

So join us for our last event of the year. We hope to see you there!

Please join us on Zangarmarsh (US-PvE-H) in <It came from the Blog>. Guild ranks of Blog Lurker or above can invite, so /whisper Robiness or any online member. You are all welcome as long as you play by our simple rules -- basically, don't be a funsucker! Visit the guild FAQ for more details.

Breakfast Topic: What are your Feast of Winter Veil goals?

Breakfast Topic What are your Feast of Winter Veil goals SATURDAY
Happy Feast of Winter Veil!

Last year, we in the It came from the Blog family of guilds put on our Gaudy Winter Veil Sweaters in order to get the feat of strength achievement: A-Caroling We Will Go. We called it Caroling Carnage, only there was far more caroling than carnage. Still, as usual, it was a good time and we succeeded in our goal.

For this year's event, I hope that Blizzard has another fun surprise present and accompanying achievement. My goal will be to have just as much fun as last year with the It Came From the Blog gang. But we won't have that gift in our hot, little, virtual hands until Dec. 25, so I'll just have to wait to plan.

Otherwise, I have the Feast of Winter Veil meta, and I'll probably ignore everything but the gift opening. I don't know, maybe I'll get an unforeseen flash of festiveness. I do have my new pandaren to take through the quests. I wonder how she'll look in that Santa outfit ...

Are you going to be joining in the festivities this year? If so, do you usually start right away, or wait until toward the end of the holiday? What do you think this year's present and achievement are going to be?

What are your Feast of Winter Veil goals?
I want to get the meta.610 (19.4%)
I have the meta, but I will still participate.597 (18.9%)
I'll participate, but I have no goals.706 (22.4%)
Bah humbug!1238 (39.3%)

Blog Azeroth's Furtive Father Winter gift exchange begins

Blog Azeroth's Furtive Father Winter gift exchange begins
Do you blog about World of Warcraft? Are you excited about the Feast of Winter Veil? Do you like giving and receiving virtual gifts? If so, get on down to Blog Azeroth's Furtive Father Winter forum post and sign up for their 4th annual gift exchange. You just need to provide your name (doesn't have to be your real one), your blog URL, and your email address in order to participate.

How it works:
  • Participant information is accepted until Saturday, December 15.
  • On Dec. 16, we find out who our gift recipients are via email.
  • Deliver your gift via email between Dec. 20 and Dec. 31.
  • Publish the gift you receive on your blog, crediting the gift-giver.
The "gift" is a blog post with inspiring content for your recipient, which could include "prose, poetry, music, graphic art, screenshots" or anything else that you think your recipient would like to receive. You'll of course have to read your recipient's blog, twitter feed, etc. in order to get to know him or her enough to create a good gift.

Redcow is organizing the event as usual, and it looks like it will be a festively good time. I'm going to be a Furtive Father Winter on my website. Will you be joining me?

It came from the Blog: Caroling Carnage event snapshots

Feast of Winter Veil Achievement Event
At the end of last month, It came from the Blog held its Caroling Carnage event in order to get the feat of strength achievement A-Caroling We Will Go. This involved putting on our Gaudy Winter Veil Sweaters and using them to carol in each Alliance city.

We met under the tree in Orgrimmar, and the world server crashed. There were only around 40 of us, but maybe the normal population of the Horde capital city couldn't handle so many under the already busy tree. So after we reconnected and dusted ourselves off, we zipped out to the front of Orgrimmar.

Our plan was to get to the area formerly known as Auberdine in order to get to Darnassus. A few of us were under level 20, so that meant hoofing it. We traveled to Razor Hill, sloshed through the mire to the Northern Barrens and then gathered at the Mor'shan Rampart. Then we stayed on the road, making our way to the Zoram Strand and then on the beach up to the wasted coast across from Teldrassil.

The gallery of our travels, as well as the continuation of our story, are after the break.

Reminder: It came from the Blog's Caroling Carnage tonight

Gaudy Winter Veil Sweater
Tonight is the night that the It came from the Blog family of guilds will be singing in dangerous places while wearing the Gaudy Winter Veil Sweater. A-Caroling We Will Go is this year's unique achievement and involves caroling in enemy cities while wearing the sweater. There will be death and destruction -- mostly ours. But there will also be fun, as usual.
  • When: Tonight, Dec. 30, at 11 p.m. EST (8 p.m. PST, 9 p.m. server)
  • Where: Meet under the tree in Orgrimmar on Zangarmarsh (US-PvE-H)
  • Who: Any level Horde character, the higher the better
  • How: Ask anyone in It came from the Blog for an invite to the guild, if you are not in our family of guilds already.
  • What: Caroling in Darnassus, The Exodar, Ironforge and Stormwind
If you decide to make a death knight in order to join us, please make sure you are welcomed into the Horde before the beginning of the event.

We will have an event chat channel to coordinate our activities, so even if you are in another guild on Zangarmarsh, you may still join us. The more the deadlier merrier!

See you tonight!

Please join us on Zangarmarsh (US-PvE-H) in It came from the Blog. All members can invite, so /whisper Roblinator or any online member. You are all welcome as long as you play by our simple rules -- basically, don't be a funsucker! Visit the guild FAQ for more details.

It came from the Blog: Join us for Caroling Carnage

Gaudy Winter Veil Sweater
This year's unique Winter Veil gift is the Gaudy Winter Veil Sweater. You can wear this lovely sweater while caroling in enemy cities in order to earn this year's unique achievement: A-Caroling We Will Go. If you don't get this Feat of Strength by the second of January, then you will have received an ugly holiday sweater for nothing. (Well, almost nothing. You still get the Gaudy Winter Veil Sweater achievement, but that's not as exciting.)

So the It came from the Blog family of guilds will be singing our hearts out (probably literally) in enemy cities this Friday night for our Caroling Carnage event.
  • When: Friday, Dec. 30 at 11 p.m. EST (8 p.m. PST, 9 p.m. server)
  • Where: Meet under the tree in Orgrimmar on Zangarmarsh (US-PvE-H)
  • Who: Any level Horde character, the higher the better.
  • How: Ask anyone in It came from the Blog for an invite to the guild, if you are not in our family of guilds already.
Warning: As our delightful singing will take place in enemy cities, we will not be welcomed as cheerfully as carolers are in shelters and assisted living facilities. There will be death -- our death -- and lots of it ... hence, Caroling Carnage.

If you decide to make a death knight in order to join us, please make sure you are welcomed into the Horde before the beginning of the event.

For one night, don't wait in those long Raid Finder or space opera queues. Instead, join us for some dangerous singing while wearing fashionably questionable clothing.

Please join us on Zangarmarsh (US-PvE-H) in It came from the Blog. All members can invite, so /whisper Roblinator or any online member. You are all welcome as long as you play by our simple rules -- basically, don't be a funsucker! Visit the guild FAQ for more details.

The OverAchiever: Guide to Winter Veil 2010

Winter Veil 2010 runs from Wednesday, Dec. 15 through Sunday, Jan. 2 this year. Unlike November's holiday, Pilgrim's Bounty, the Merrymaker meta is required for What A Long, Strange Trip It's Been. If you've already got a Violet Proto-Drake or just don't care about the meta, Winter Veil will also give you the opportunity to turn your mount into a reindeer, become a snowman with a unique dance animation, and get noncombat pets and snowballs. Of course, if Santa RNG thinks you've been bad, you'll just wind up with Coal.

Though not always. Keep at it! Even Santa RNG has a heart.

Past the cut, I've revised and expanded our 2009 guide for anyone looking to complete the meta (and earn the title) Merrymaker. Cataclysm has almost certainly affected how you'll do this holiday, but unfortunately, there's no hard information yet as to how. I doubt that Blizzard had the time to tinker extensively with Winter Veil in the crush of work surrounding a new expansion, but we'll see. As always, I'll be around as the holiday goes live to check and update the article. For the moment, I've included some commonsense speculation on likely changes (such as when an NPC's probably changed locations due to city/topography upheaval).

It came from the Blog: Winter Veil snapshots

At the very end of last year, It came from the Blog got together to celebrate the Feast of Winter Veil. We slaughtered dragonhawks for their young in order to bake cookies. We bribed Greatfather Winter. We pretended we cared about what the real message behind the holiday was. And we threw snowballs at Cairne. But mostly, we had fun!

Upcoming for It came from the Blog: Questions about WoW.com's guild? Please see our FAQ. Enjoy the holiday snapshots below!
