PAX East 2010 Gallery

Penny Arcade creators Gabe and Tycho brought the ever-growing Penny Arcade Expo to the Bay State this weekend, with nerdfolk from all over pouring into Boston, MA for PAX East. As the sole WoW.com rep at the show (with Spiritual Guidance's Fox Van Allen in attendance as "just a dude" instead of "dude with a press badge"), I stomped the floor with the Joystiq and Massively crew, who squeezed every last drop of relevant info from the expo at record speed. "Hello my boss Chris Grant of Joystiq fame," I would tap out on my smartphone, "here's a pretty hot gaming scoop just revealed moments ago!" He would reply three seconds later with "Already posted," with an image attached of his frowning face.
As for my site's particular field of interest -- was there a lot of Blizzard-related news? Not really! Thankfully, on top of news about other MMOs, there was some other stuff going on, which you can see in this gallery. There was WoW-related stuff worth writing about though, which'll be posted in the next day or so.
A special thanks to all the readers who stopped by to say hello to me! We love you guys, and we'll see you at BlizzCon in full effect.

Some new WoW-related tattoos in our gallery

This is the only new license plate addition at the moment, but if you happen to have a WoW-related plate on your car that we haven't seen just yet (or can grab a picture of someone else's -- just stay safe if you happen to be driving at the time), be sure to send us a note on the tipline. Saving the old world with wallpapers

TMA is even taking requests, so even if you just have a suggestion for a great view, you can send it along and it'll get into the wallpaper database. Only a matter of time until the world is completely shattered; probably a good idea to admire these old zones while we can.

Yes, that's Arthas admiring his own title on a license plate -- Kallis of Silver Hand sent us this shot, presumably before his head was chopped off by Frostmourne. Trust us, if you think celebrities are angry when the paparazzi come by, you don't want to see what the Lich King does.

The sights of Stormwind Harbor

What was I talking about? Oh right, I have here a beautiful gallery of screenshots of Stormwind Harbor, its boats, and a lighthouse that seems to be on the way out of the city. The Harbor will offer non-stop trips to the Borean Tundra in Northrend, as well as to Auberdine (the current boat in Menethil is being re-routed, and Menethil will now connect only to Theramore). This should make it much less painful for low-level Alliance characters to travel between the Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor – "no more Wetlands Deathflop," as one Blizzard CM put it.
I really like the look of the the boats, too, with the big paddle wheel and the gryphon prow. It's always nice to see a little more steampunk in my WoW. Come on in and check out the beautiful scenery, and thanks to Kevin from WoW Macros for providing all these lovely screenshots.

Gallery: Stormwind construction

With the release of Patch 2.4.3 today, construction has commenced at the docks in Stormwind. It's located between Cathedral Square and The Park, at the end of the canals. If you talk to the workers in the area, they'll tell you that they are preparing to bust out the wall to create a new entrance to the city. There's lots of life bustling around the construction site, and here's your first tour.

Around Azeroth: Worst date ever

Solanum of <Sovereignty Warcraft> on Frostwolf thought he had the perfect date idea; a night on a secluded boat, fishing under the starry sky, entertained by dancing trolls. However, his guildmate Lathiria clearly thought otherwise. Need more proof? Well, she had to pay for her half of the flight to Everlook. And when it was time to make the jump into Darkshore, Solanum found out that he'd forgotten his protection (aka light feathers.) Nothing spoils an evening like resurrecting your boyfriend. And then, finally, they're sitting in the romantic boat on the romantic lake, she's wearing an outfit that barely covers anything, and he's ... looking the other way and leveling up his fishing skill? But really, I'm sure Solanum and Lathiria had a wonderful time out. You can't help it that blood elf female look half-naked and constantly bored.

Around Azeroth: Indiana Jones and the Mask of Denial

NOTE ON WHAT HAPPENED HERE: Basically, I thought today was the 21st and scheduled this post as such. When I realized I was wrong, I somehow managed to click the wrong post and reschedule ... YESTERDAY's post for today. So that's why this morning's AA was yesterday's. It has been removed to its rightful home, and this has been brought forward in time to today. Sorry to all who thought they were going crazy, and a special apology to Nycterun, who had his thunder stolen (and moved through time repeatedly.)
If you've read a cursory account of the lore of racial origins -- or if you've been waging a massive war against night elves in Alterac Valley -- you know that many scholars believe that night elves and trolls evolved from a similar ancestor. And knowing night elves, I suspect that Nycterun of <Kiss of Death> on Arathor was not looking to underline the similarities when he "put on" a mojo mask decorating the outside of Zul'Farrak. Nevertheless, if the mask fits, you must equip. *rimshot* Nycterun certainly looks like he could have troll ancestors. A little more slouch, a little more radical of a hairstyle, and a lot more Visine and he could fit right in in Orgrimmar. What do you think?

Around Azeroth: Rubber ducky, you're the one

Oh yeah. This is just what I needed after a long day. A hot bath, a couple of candles, and you. Oh, rubber ducky, you're the only one who truly understands me. You're the only one who doesn't make fun of my massive, oversized arms, or call me a space squid, or mock my cousin who tried to take an exfoliating lava bath. If only we could be together! But alas, the anchorites frown on that sort of thing. Don't they understand that a manly man like me has to find something to relax with?
