WoW Moviewatch: Moonglade Beat

Today's video is a treat from Greyfoo and Brunhila. While hosting an all-leather rogue show, the intrepid duo opts to seek out the meaning of life and the inevitable allure of druids. Specifically, they address the mystery of the Moonglade Beat.

Greyfoo created the machinima, and Brunhila provided additional vocals. As we've come to expect from Greyfoo, this video offers some incredible, gorgeous visuals. The song is smart and fun with a subtle, catchy beat. It's always exciting to see new material from him. Brunhila is a favorite of ours, also, and I'm particularly happy to see her collaborating with Greyfoo. It seems like a great match.

Kick back, relax, and enjoy a hippy-trippy time with Moonglade Beat.

WoW Moviewatch: My Baby's a Quest NPC

Work warning: This video contains sexual themes and references.

Greyfoo is back with a brand new video called My Baby's a Quest NPC. This original music tells the story of a man who discovers his girlfriend is actually a quest giver, which means he needs to perform some Herculean tasks to win her back. Of course, that's much harder than it seems, and he eventually decides to find love in Dolanaar instead.

This video has the trademark vocals, smooth rhythms, and laid-back feeling possessed by all of Greyfoo's music. The song was actually written way back in classic WoW, so you might pick up a few oddities while you listen. If your'e a fan of Greyfoo's music, you can find his complete album over at CDBaby.

WoW Moviewatch: Scarlet Toy

We reviewed Greyfoo's new movie, Archaeology, last week. There were a surprising number of folks who had never seen Greyfoo's work until then, so I wanted to feature another one of his works. Scarlet Toy was written and created by Greyfoo for a contest. The rules for that contest kept him from using many fancy machinima tricks, so he focused on the story for this video.

The music and lyrics for Scarlet Toy really stick out in my mind. This kind of lament adds another layer of depth to the characters of the Scarlet Crusade, even if you think it all feels a bit tongue-in-cheek. It's a fun addition to the lore and background of the game, helping us draw out a little more of the play experience.

WoW Moviewatch: Archaeology

I sometimes feel like no portion of the game is really real to me until it's featured in machinima. Until someone's put the game dynamic to music and video, it just doesn't tend to stick out in my head. I've been pretty successful at ignoring Harrison Jones in Cataclysm, but thanks to Greyfoo, I'll have to learn Archaeology.

Greyfoo has put his immortal stamp on Harrison Jones. For the first time, I actually care a tad about the master of WoW antiquity. And Greyfoo's explanation of why Jones does what he does makes the character a little more empathetic.

This isn't the first time Greyfoo has changed our opinion about the game. "I hated the draenei until Exodar Disco," says Mat McCurley. "I love Velen now, and I like their story."

WoW Moviewatch: Exodar Disco

Gray let me do Moviewatch today for some reason. Delirium, most likely. It happens to the best of us. The space fever.

Let me tell you a story. The date is Oct. 21, 2010. Draenei enthusiast Mike Sacco, liquor enthusiast Adam Holisky, ImmaTree enthusiast Michael Gray, and Mat McCurley enthusiast Mat McCurley were all busy getting the pre-Blizzcon reader meetup ready to roll at the Anabella hotel. Gray and I began to discuss some of the more ... esoteric WoW machinimas out there. I then proceeded to show Mike Sacco Exodar Disco, because he is a draenei enthusiast and if draenei were real, he'd probably buy one of those Japanese body pillows of one.

But I digress. Exodar Disco is a rerun of Greyfoo's amazingly catchy and fun draenei dance-fest that does a better job with draenei lore than anything in the last four years. This video single-handedly made me appreciate Velen and the draenei race, if only because the visuals were fun and the quality is top-notch Greyfoo polish. Go forth and watch, and remember, many lives were lost to bring you these tab collars.

Ozruk breaks some mad beats upon his body

There's not much to say other than Ozruk, body-breaker incarnate of the Stonecore, has got some beats he wants to share. I absolutely love boss remixes and cannot wait what this new expansion brings in terms of entertaining songs from the WoW machinima and remix communities.

WoW remixes and songs sometimes have a very powerful effect on me. I've never been a huge fan of the draenei, for instance, until Greyfoo's awesome Exodar Disco, which made me appreciate the race somehow. MrVoletron constantly amazed me with his collection of hits, most notably my favorites "U Face Jaraxxus" and "Bad Girls." There's something about crafting music that makes me appreciate the game even more, especially what all of these creative minds do when they get hold of the game's sound files.

Ozruk has laid down the first mad beats of the expansion. The best part is that it only gets better from here.

Don't forget to check out WoW Insider's guide to the Stonecore so you too can break yourselves upon his body.

WoW Moviewatch: Dead and Loving It

Dead and Loving It is a song and machinima by Greyfoo and EmberIsolte. The human noobie in the frame story is voiced by Bullworth. A video with all three of those folks just can't go wrong, and Greyfoo's animation is as awesome as ever.

The interesting thing about this video is that it has a frame story. A human noobie wanders up to an undead warlock, who's busy rocking out to some "fine music." The human is curious, accepts the price to hear the Forsaken melody, and only later cames to regret his action.

While the song is beautiful and probably should take up its own throne in iTunes, the end result of story plus song makes Dead and Loving It special. EmberIsolte's voice is gorgeous, and Greyfoo nails his overall composition. Really, this video was just a breath of fresh air.

WoW Moviewatch: No Place Like Gnome

I'm not sure how I missed this video for so long, considering my unending devotion to the Greyfoo. Maybe it was the video's lack of belf rap; I'm not sure. But No Place Like Gnome is some fantastic singing, lyrics and machinima to help you stay excited about Operation: Gnomeregan. This is going to be a favorite video to go back and stare at after Cataclysm, to remind ourselves of what those old, glorious Alliance cities used to look like.

As tipster Matt points out, this is probably Greyfoo's most visually stunning video. While the Greyfoo is not always as prolific as many other movie makers, I appreciate the patience, time and quality he puts into his original work.

WoW Moviewatch: Exodar Disco

Do you like dancing space goats? I hope so, because we here at WoW.com love us some dancing space goats, especially if it's to some smooth, groovy disco. The great news for us, then, is that EmberIsolte and TheGreyFoo have teamed up to bring us Exodar Disco.

In this epic masterpiece of space goat disco, you get to hear the Prophet Velen spell out his vision for defeating the forces of evil. If you weren't expecting that plan to include sequins and tab lapels, then you were sorely mistaken. I hope this video will usher in a new age of combat for WoW. An age of groovy, funkadelic beats. An age where we get to watch the Draenei show the other, lesser races what it means to feel disco in your soul.

Seriously, though, this video was a darn lot of fun. TheGreyFoo and EmberIsolte are always a lot of fun, and I look forward to their stuff. This video is just amazing, though, and far exceeds any expectations I could have had. The choice to actually involve Velen in singing was superb, and I can't applaud them enough.

WoW Moviewatch: Pally DPS Song

It could be hard to imagine that our favorite four-button face-smashing Retribution Paladins were once less than superstars. However, the long-lived among us remember that in vanilla WoW, Paladins were largely buff dispensers in dresses, armed with a couple heals and the super-sexy Tier 2 Judgement set. In memory of the Paladins of that bygone era, Greyfoo has written the Pally DPS Song.

Greyfoo's song definitely has a handful of chuckle-worthy moments. I have to admit that it really drummed up some nostalgia for me. And while my Paladin sure isn't rocking the Arena ladder, I still have to acknowledge that he's doing about a billion times better than he was in the original game.

I found Greyfoo's animation suited just fine to his song. The music is fun and low-key, but satisfying. I hope Greyfoo had a good time creating this video, and that he comes back around to do more.
